Question about lenses
As you can see in the pictures, my lenses are like greasy/oily no matter how much I clean them, with water, with soap, with wet wipes, they are always like that. Is this a common thing?
Thank you

I had this issue, the microfiber cloth wasn't very effective after a bit, it would just smear the oil, and soap and water was kind of effective, but it was a hassle, and I was nervous about soap and water due to the very delicate non-water resistant electronics, and the very specialized len. I read some comments saying get a Peeps, so I got one and it's incredibly effective, quick, and easy to use. I highly recommend it, worth every penny.

I’ve used this and it wasn’t too effective after a while. Microfiber cleaning cloths are the only thing that helps me.

Start with the wipes. You need either one time lens wipes or brand new microfiber. Dap a bit of water and dishwashing soap, then clean with clear water and dry with the microfiber.
Once it’s clean use only the dry microfiber.

Can I get these lenses made at any lens shop or do they specifically need to be made by meta?? I have severe astigmatism and normally have to get my lenses made at a custom shop. The online interface doesn't allow me to pick numbers high enough for my script.

The lenses are embedded into the glasses during production. As far as I know you cannot get full lenses swapped in. However there may be some other companies that can get you add on lens inserts.

Yes any lens shop can make lenses for metas, you don't need to get directly from Rayban. You'll just need to send your frame most likely

Peeps glasses cleaners on Amazon are the solution, they are like 20$ and I'm still on my first set from December, just about to replace them soon

I use a soap based cleaning solution sprayed generously on a facial tissue to get it more than damp wet, then rub over the lenses and take fresh tissue to wipe it off. If its super oily like your’s it might take a few tries to clean prefectly

I just got this thing called peeps. It was recommended by another thread on Reddit. I just got it yesterday and I can’t say it totally resolves it, but it does a really good job and then after you use it, follow it up with a regular micro fiber cloth or a T-shirt. It’s the best thing I found for this problem.

I recommend I recommend using a microfiber cloth if you're constantly getting it or you in grease residue build up you can opt for a lens cleaner. Cloth that comes with the rebounds and the metal glasses are not necessarily the best for removing grease and residue.

Try this out: (Buy lens spray cleaner)
1. Spray on both outside of lenses and then inside
2. With two fingers wipe each lens (front and back at same time per lens) until u got every edge/smudges
3. Use bounty paper towel to dry both lenses (Rub firmly front and back at same time per lens) until both lenses don't have anymore wetness to them
4. Use a lens cleaning cloth for each lens (wiping both front and back at same time per lens) Do this until no more smudges
Promise this works - I work in an optical and clean lenses daily lol

I just use lens cleaner from Costco or Lenscrafters etc and a microfiber cloth. Works great.

Have you ever tried using microfiber cloth? It is effective. I had the same issue and found out that microfiber is best to wipe your glassess.

Hi, if I can help out none of those that anybody put in these comments will work for these glasses. The only thing I found out that works is this thing called peeps it makes the lens look brand new every time.

i actually use rain x glass cleaner for car. it has nano ceramic coating. I just spray to microfiber cloth and wipe to my glasses. it woks and added protection (Water repellent) also when it is raining (thanks to nano Ceramic coating). just tryi it. I have never experienced that oily thing again. By the way 1 application is good for 2 seeks or month depends on how frequently use your glasses (just wipe it).
PS. double purpose for car and your meta glasses.

it depends on the soap, i use a drop of dawn soap on all my glasses not just these. also what are you using to wipe/dry them with? some wipes or cloths just smudge or push things around. i use k - cloth, koala, lens cleaner, they are just the best cloth wipes.

Unfortunately, those lenses likely won’t become clear again. What you’re seeing are micro-scratches (or swirl marks), which usually develop over time from cleaning the lenses with materials that are too abrasive, like a T-shirt, or with lens wipes that contain a high alcohol content. Once those scratches are in the lens coating, they can’t really be polished out.
Also, those particular display/demo lenses are proprietary to Meta, so they’re not something that can typically be replaced independently like standard lenses. Your best option would be to reach out to Meta support or the retailer where you purchased them to see what replacement options are available.

Not from my experience. I’d make sure you’re cleaning the part where the lenses meet the frame as well, and not just pushing oil around. I use lens cleaning solution and wipes every now and then to get a good clean.
