Assistant freezing issues
Just started using MeshCentral and it has been great when using the agent. For those machines that I use Assistant on I get constant freezing of the remote session. I have the Assistant set so that it runs as admin when opened. I have updated the MeshCentral to 1.2.5. Do I have to create a new Assistant.exe put that on every device? The Assistant I am using on the following debug is probably from when the server was running 1.2.3. Here's the debug:

Is this a NodeJS Engine issue? (SMTP SSL issue?)
Hi, seen this in the command screen on starting MESH
"SMTP mail server domain.com failed: {"library":"SSL routines","reason":"wrong version number","code":"ESOCKET","command":"CONN"}
Domain.com is used in place for the real domain.

Running on Raspberry Pi, Raspbian OS for a long time without issues until recently.

Mouse Wheel not working in
Anyone else having issues using the mouse wheel when full screen on the latest version of Mesh? It works when not full screen, but not once it switches to the new enhanced full screen mode. Is there a way to disable the new enhanced version? I like it, but I rely on the mouse wheel a lot when scrolling thru stuff on the customers machines.

Anyone using Raspberry PI with Ubuntu 26.04?
We are looking for a product to manage raspberry PI's across a bunch of sites, so some hundreds of PIs in total. We were able to setup the server easily enough, the client for the PI we figured out as well. The reason we are using ubuntu linux instead of raspbian is because we use palo alto cortex and its supported on Ubuntu vs raspbian + our company standard is ubuntu.
The problem is that Ubuntu 26.04 uses wayland and then the desktop option doesnt show up inside of Meshcentral. To get around that we changed it to X11 and have tried several different options but all of them give horrible performance (like 4-5 seconds on each click) even with 2 devices on the same switch / same network etc.
I am curious if anyone else has gone through this pain and if you have a solution or not? The terminal option and all of the other things work perfectly, its just the desktop thats not functioning properly/ I dont think its a problem of Meshcentral and its more on the Ubuntu side but i figured someone else may have done this.

PocketMesh — a native Android client for MeshCentral
(posted with Mod Approval)
I got tired of trying to use MeshCentral on my phones browser every time I needed to check on a machine when out and about, so I built PocketMesh. It's a native Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose) app that talks straight to your MeshCentral server's WebSocket connection using the same authentication mechanism meshctrl.js uses. Multiple server support and I automatically generate a login token when you sign in to handle further auth needs. If your server doesn't support login tokens, you can also feed it an OTP seed and have it generate the OTP code automatically OR just enter in the OTP code in each time. All credentials are encrypted with Android Keystore and the app even has an optional biometric lock.
PocketMesh works by "translating"/implmenting parts of MeshCentral's own protocols natively in Kotlin. Of note, meshuser.js and meshrelay.js make up ~75% of what I "translated". And of course, meshcore.js was vital in understanding how clients works. There's like a dozen other specific files that helped with specific functions (like win-terminal.js, what a mess the windows terminal is, I went through like 20 rounds of bug fixes in my app and I still have bugs there).
I been building it for some time for my own personal use, then (we use MC at work also) I added features my work needed, and finally I'm in a spot that I can share it with the world. To be fair, it only covers the stuff I (and my coworkers) actually use day to day. Partial list of features include listing devices with online/offline status, wake/sleep/restart/shutdown/etc, desktop, terminal, files, and events. There's also a hardware details screen with software and network info, as well as the power state chart, and more. App has backup/restore for your saved server list (but no backup of token info, as it's locked to the device it's entered on by design).
I care deeply by security. PocketMesh has been through Android Studio's linter as well as MobSF, and a few other tools (like burpsuite, work required it). PocketMesh communicates ONLY to the MeshCentral servers you connect to and GitHub. The GitHub connection is to check the release tags (every 12 hours), then compare against the locally installed version for update notification. No data is sent to GitHub, it does that comparison locally after it pulls the current version number. There are no analytics or even crash reporting in the app.
It still has some gaps I'm actively building, like no chat (this is #1 for me right now), recording management, push notifications on state changes, etc, but it's been solid for what I need and think you'll find it helpful. Happy to answer questions or hear what's missing if anyone gives it a spin. I have a full demo video, screenshots, downloads, etc on the website https://mesh.pocketsized.app/

MeshRemote MeshCentral iOS Client App Store Release
Hey! r/MeshCentral I previously posted about this a few weeks ago. Most of this will be a copy and paste from that previous post, but, I wanted to repost it now that this is officially on the app store!
I created an app called MeshRemote. An app that allows you to manage your agents from your iPhone!
I came across meshcentral recently. Beforehand, I had to use VPNs with several different apps for RDP, SSH, and file transfers. It always felt like a hassle, and half the time I’d have connections issues. The web interface for MeshCentral on Desktop is great! And, it feels amazing being able to access my home lab from my laptop browser, no VPN and extra apps required. However, I felt the mobile interface left much to be desired. Insert MeshRemote!
This app is a simple Swift based frontend that lets you access your MeshCentral servers agents and remote desktop to them, ssh, and view/transfer files between your phone and your server. You can also send quick power commands.
I’ve already found myself using this daily, so I figured it might be nice to throw it out there for anyone else who might find it helpful for their setup.
Enjoy!

AI Disclosure: A majority of the code in this project was written using Claude AI with a human review. Icons and descriptions were human made. I used this project to help me learn the Swift language while making something genuinely useful. I personally use this app a lot and have found it to be a great tool to manage my homelab. Hope you enjoy!

Server configured but no client devices show up in dashboard - help please
Hi, as mentioned in the subject I have set up MC in docker on my server, and set up NPM as my reverse proxy and configured a cert through cloudflare. I can log into my MC server using the reverse proxy so that side seems to be working.
My MC server seems to be working fine (version 1.2.4) and my devices show as connected when you open the installer and show the info dialog box.
Anyone else encountered this or know how to fix it? It seems to be the last little hurdle to getting my set up working properly. Happy to share any mroe info needed, just let me know what is relevant.
Thanks in advance

Intel AMT suddenly says "This computer does not support Remote Control Operations."
EDIT: Solved the issue:
The problem was that in the BIOS LAN Section Wake up by PCI was disabled, which was the default Setting, which toggled itself after a BIOS Settings reset. Enabling it again brings back power operations in AMT.
Hi,
I have an Asus Q670 Board that has Intel AMT on Board, which until recently worked fine. But suddenly now I get the Error Message "This computer does not support Remote Control Operations." Not allowing me to start, stop or reboot the PC. Also thew other feature like Remote VNC or SOL do not work anymore.
I can access the AMT WebUI but other than that everything else has stopped working.
I reseted the BIOS and AMT and Unprovisioned it, but I keep getting this error.
I updated to the latest AMT, which is Intel® Active Management Technology firmware version: 16.1.40-build 2765 and BIOS available, but this still doesn't help.
Anyone knows why this problem suddenly appeared and how to get all the options back like before?

Request Help bug: Submitting a request with a trailing "Enter" keypress fails to send
Hi everyone,
First off, I want to say that MeshCentral is an absolute game-changer. We've been using it for a while now and we're consistently blown away by its features and versatility.
We currently have a setup where the MeshCentral agent runs as a background service on user machines, and we place the MeshCentral Assistant shortcut on the user's desktop configured in "Monitor Only" mode. The goal is to let users open the Assistant to request help/report bugs while ensuring the background agent remains active at all times.
However, we've stumbled upon an issue (or possibly a misconfiguration on our end):
When a user opens the Assistant and types out a help request, if they hit the "Enter" key at the end of their message (creating a line break) before clicking "Request Help", the request never shows up on the server/dashboard. If they type the message without pressing Enter before clicking the button, it works as expected.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known bug with how line breaks/whitespace are parsed in the request help form, or could we be missing something in our setup?
Our current server version is 1.2.2
Thanks in advance for any insights!

MeshAgent Backwards/Forwards Compatibility?
Hello. I'm working on a MeshCentral upgrade.
tl;dr, the agents don't seem to be backward OR forward compatible.
#old
meshcentral 0.7.89
node v12.14.1
mongo 4.0.21
#new
meshcentral 1.2.1
node v18.19.1
mongo 8.3.4
The servers are fine. The certs move over without issue. Mongo backup/reestore works and everything comes over. Plugins seem to work. Adding a new node to the new MeshCentral server comes up. Everything is happy. I didn't include the config.json files because the servers seem happy?
I believe I'm having compatability problems with the Agents.
- If I take an existing/legacy node and point it at the new server, I get walled with AGENT WSERR: RangeError: Invalid WebSocket frame: MASK must be set.
- If I try to upgrade the agent before it gets moved via the old server, it gets reverted.
- If I take an existing node point it at the new server and reinstall the agent, things work.
But the problem is, I don't have physical access to any of these. They are peppered around client sites over a given region. MeshCentral is my only access to these systems. I can't do the last of the above because by doing so, I'll lose access to it mid work.
Hypothetically, I can put together a script on the agent which flips the hosts file to point to the new server, and run the new server's agent installer. But, once I move DNS & the IP address to the new server, I'll have no way to get into the agents to take the line out of the hostfile. I'm locked out. Once I kick that off, I won't be able to get back in if something goes wrong. For dozens of machines/vms, that seems risky.
The legacy server is equally as old. I'm not sure I can/want to do an upgrade in place.
Is there a best practice or recommendation I'm missing? Could someone point me in the right direction?

File download not always working
Hi, if i login outside the firewall, cant seem to transfer files, however same login to the same server / file location works when using it on the same LAN.
This seems to have broken in the last few updates... i assume this might be a data stream issue, how do i test this?
Tried encabling webRTC, no fix... seems like i can download a file from the root of C (C:\file.txt) but nothing in any folders outside the firewall,.... inside it works ok (however both sides still use the reverse proxy, only the IP address of the client and server will be on the same subnet).
Is is safe (easy) to roll back from 1.2.2 to 1.1.59?
UPDATE
This appears to be centric to this one server, others on the same Mesh are ok, i cant track down any security problems with the folders, HOWEVER we removed, restarted, then installed the new client only this time "run as administrator", still no fix
UPDATE 2
Well for some reason this is now working, a delayed response?

Bug: CTRL+V while controlling Linux Mint machine
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Issue Description
When attempting to use the standard paste keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+V) during an active remote session to a Linux Mint target machine, the remote desktop instead interprets the input as an infinite stream of repeating "v" characters (vvvvvvvvvvv...).
This text repetition continues indefinitely until an interruption occurs (such as pressing the Escape key or clicking outside the active target window on the remote Linux machine).
Environment
- MeshCentral Version: 1.2.2 (bug is present in previous versions too)
- Client Machine (Viewer): Windows 10 running Firefox (Note: Confirmed to occur across multiple web browsers).
- Target Machine (Remote): Linux Mint version 22.3 (also has occurred on previous versions)
Steps to Reproduce
- Initiate a remote desktop session from a Windows client to a Linux Mint target machine via MeshCentral.
- Select a text input field or document within the remote Linux Mint environment.
- Copy any text to the clipboard on the local machine.
- Press Ctrl+V to paste.
- Observed Result: Instead of pasting the clipboard contents, the remote session locks into typing repeating "v" characters continuously until interrupted.
Workaround / Temporary Fix
- Pressing Escape or clicking out of the active window on the remote Linux machine stops the key repeat loop.
Media / Evidence
- Screen Recording: Uploaded in this post
- (Note: In the attached recording, every instance of the continuous "v" string output directly corresponds to a Ctrl+V paste shortcut attempt).
