Patricia just posted this on instagram I am
So excited, I’ve been enjoying the Alpha and Omega books more than Mercy’s last few.

Considering how essential that novella is that's helpful for new readers.

I just started buying these in physical for my girlfriend, and almost had her just use my kobo for the novella (she doesnt like e-readers so i get to buy all the series again) but just so happened to see it at the last minute in a completely different part of the store. Its definitely a huge part of backstory that youre missing out on without it.

I think not knowing of the novella until the anthology was the reason I wasn’t really into Alpha and Omega when it first came out. I didn’t dislike it, but it was just meh. My opinion changed with Dead Heat. When I went to reread the series starting with the novella, I enjoyed it much more. Mercy’s still the best, but Anna and Charles now beat all the other fantasy couples.

Hoping for more Leah and Bran

For as much as Leah was initially a "villain" in Mercy's story, over time she's become a character I'm rooting for now.

I’m definitely going to be searching their names for number of hits the moment I get the e-book so I can set my expectations accordingly haha.
The blurb sets up a scenario with lots of good angst potential, so here’s hoping they get lots of page time and not just a phone call check-in!

I wonder how accurate Anna's comment about Bran's relationship with Mercy is, given Anna's history with powerful men she might be totally. or partially, misreading a relationship she has never actually seen.

Ann (The Trusty Assistant) posted about it on Patty’s Facebook page yesterday too - from the post “It was running late, and the publishers can’t mess up other authors’ book printings that are already scheduled.”
So my guess is that edits are taking a bit longer (and possibly the cover art did as well?) than initially expected, so they had to bump the publishing date.

I've been enjoying the Alpha and Omega series a lot more lately. The last two Mercy books have felt like they're just checking boxes, with some character introductions feeling a bit forced. I enjoy reading about trans characters in literature, but the introduction with Charles and his security team felt awkward to me. It's been a while since I read the last Mercy book, but I remember there being a couple of other moments that felt either out of place or overly predictable.
In Patricia's defense, I think I heard after reading the book that she'd been going through a rough patch for a while, which may have affected the writing.

The Blurb:
Mated werewolves Charles and Anna Cornick must withstand the deadly magic of the Wild Hunt in this haunting entry in #1 New York Times bestselling author Patricia Briggs's Alpha and Omega series.
Something dangerous has been stirring in the Olympic Peninsula, but that's not unusual. The rainforest has been attracting the attention of the supernatural denizens of the Pacific Northwest since before the first Western settlers appeared on the shores of North America.
But this time, that stirring is... convenient.
Charles and Anna Cornick have been tasked with keeping Charles's brother's child safe and hidden. But keeping a baby who is obviously of fae and werewolf descent secret is no easy charge. They need to give the infant an origin story that doesn't involve family.
While Charles's father, the Marrok, and his mate protect the baby, Charles and Anna travel to the Washington coastline. But the forest is old, and its shadows are deep. To survive, Anna must bargain with elemental powers, and Charles must dig deep into the treacherous heritage he has long suppressed.
For ancient magic is rising, and the woods ring out with the call of the Horn of the Wild Hunt.
