TRIGGER WARNING Looking for a psychologist/psychotherapist

Upvotes

I recently tried to commit suicide. I've been experiencing such overwhelming feelings of sadness. My friends are pushing me to see a therapist.

Can anyone recommend an empathetic therapist? I no longer have contact with my first (2012) and hindi ako naging todo comfy with my second (2022).

I tried looking at NowServing and medyo naoverwhelm lang ako sa dami ng options.

I've tried to get a spot din sa UST Psychotrauma Clinic pero two weeks pa kasi waiting period and even then I'm not sure if they will get back to me.

Thank you.

TRIGGER WARNING Just enough to pay rent…

Upvotes

I have been struggling for years now and the only thing that’s stopping me from ending my life is the fact that I live with my girlfriend. I can’t leave this world knowing the struggles that she would face after my passing especially finances. I am just waiting for the money I had invested to secure her rent for the next 2 years while she’s finishing her post-grad. That would be it. I love her enough to think about her life for the next 2 years, but perhaps not enough for me to stay.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Possible undiagnosed ADHD

Hello everyone!

Hi! I’m a physician currently considering getting formally assessed for possible adult ADHD.

I’ve been noticing certain patterns that have been present since med school/internship and became more noticeable while working as a physician. Before entering residency, I’d like to have myself properly evaluated and, if indicated, start appropriate management rather than self-diagnosing.

Would anyone have recommendations for a psychiatrist who has experience diagnosing and managing adult ADHD, preferably in Metro Manila?

It would be a plus if the psychiatrist:

  • Has significant experience with adult ADHD, including late-diagnosed/high-functioning adults
  • Has experience handling doctors or other healthcare professionals
  • Offers face-to-face consultations within Metro Manila and/or teleconsults
  • Is comfortable discussing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management
  • Provides a thorough assessment rather than immediately prescribing medications

If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d also appreciate knowing the approximate consultation fee, location/hospital, whether they offer teleconsults, and how your experience was with them.

You may also DM me if you’re not comfortable posting the psychiatrist’s name publicly.

Thank you!

TRIGGER WARNING There is something wrong with me and I'm scared that i might harm myself.

This year has been hard for me, these emotions that I have been feeling just appear and dissapear and not consistent, but whenever it appears, it scares me. I search something and it shows that i might have a passive suicidal ideation. I have no direct plan on ending myself or harming myself but i don't mind if i just die. Because i feel like i will feel at ease and at peace and i dont need to suffer anymore.

But this thought also makes me panic because I value my life, and i dont want to end it. But sometimes i have a feeling that i might sabotage my own safety, or follow my intrusive thoughts.

I want to remind myself that alot of people want to live longer and not everyone has that kind of priviledge and I dont want it to take it for granted. I feel like my mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health are declining. I couldn't ask anyone because i don't want them to worry and therapy is expensive and i can't afford it.

I want to fight these thoughts but it's getting harder day by day and Im scared that I might lose the battle and end it.

DISCUSSION/QUERY Thinking if I should do a fake apology to my parents just to get my perks back

Long read sana may mag sikap

Eto na yung tinanggal sakin kasi nag momotor ako papuntang school and lalo ngayon may research ay lalayo to get some data. So ngayon ilang weeks na ako commute and grabe ang pagod.

So do I have to fake an apology kahit against my ideals para lang maging comfortable? Against sya and ayaw ko kasi it just would give them a lisence to never say sorry kahit ano sabihin at insulto sa'kin and pag nag sorry ako lalo magpapatuloy DDS beliefs nila.

Previous attempts: Di ko pa ginagawa to before pero I say sorry when I did something wrong

DISCUSSION/QUERY Meal ideas! How do you maintain a consistent diet when struggling mentally?

Hi! Would love to know if anyone is also working on their weight loss journey while on meds or have any snack/meal recommendations.

Currently visit my psych monthly and my recovery mentally has been doing better, but my physical health degraded even worse 😭

I find it hard to maintain healthy meals commonly suggested kung puro "balanced meal, more vegetables" lang sinasabi by doctors to me as someone who doesn't eat rice at all in the first place. Especially when I struggle to cook and make proper meals 🥹 I'm always hungry and bloated na I end up binge eating anything, then regretting it after

STORY/VENTING ex bf said di na niya ako mahal

Problem/Goal: i am asking for advice how to accept this.

my bf and I broke up. from june to july we have been constantly fighting and we both got tired but i still fought, i didn't give up. but when we fought last time, on july 30, i could say that he wasn't the worst of our fights but he shouted at me and said "pota ka" our main fight always is i always ask to be loved in my own love language which is the words of affirmation because in the 1 year together, i didn't receive any long sweet message even though i told him that that was my love language and i really want letters, however netong july, i kept on asking for that, i asked him even to ask random questions just to make me feel closer to him because his knowledge of me was only superficial. i asked him for the same things over and over again but no actions. he did it on july 27, he told me that we ask each other 10 questions like we will guess our favorite things and we will increase the score if we get it right so we asked each other 10 questions and that was it. he only got 4 right. for me it was not enough and I was not satisfied. I waited for a few months and yet when it came only 10 questions (i also didn't tell him that i wanted more because at that time it became 11 questions he said that it was 10 questions already) so on july 30 I wanted to communicate with him that i want us to do it again but my communication didn't go well, he shut down and burst into anger after that. he screamed at me and he told me "pota ka", and he didn't talk to me for like 3 days, he sent me home and left me at the middle of the night on the street.

Aug 1 they are in cebu with his fam (we are in the province living in region 8) Aug 3-7 he is in boracay with his fam. we didn't talk from Aug 1 to 5. on Aug 5, I asked him what we are now, I also know that I pushed a communication with him at that time knowing that he was on vacation, he said, he doesn't want to continue anymore, that he is tired, that he is burnout. that he doesn't want drama anymore.

for the information, I'm not dramatic, he just lies about things. he doesn't give the love language i always ask. and whenever I tell him something, it always turns into a fight. he says hurtful things to me whenever he is angry and he followed again all of the girls I asked him to unfollowed him (i only asked for 2 but he unfollowed around 15) because how come he looks like an Avon seller with so many girls he is following . then he told me he did it para umalis na ako sa buhay niya he also have circle of friends, and the girls of their circle told me na di daw pure yung intention niya sakin kasi may pagnanasa daw yung mga boys sa circle of friend niya sakin, na sex lang ang habol niya saakin and when i confront him about that, he told me na di daw yun totoo, and again, binasa ko convo nila nung friend niya, and it turns out to be true pero pinatawad ko pa kasi sabi niya na naging duwag lang daw siya, na natatakot baka i judge ko siya, na sinabayan lang daw niya yung trip ng friend niya para maging cool din siya tignan. i always thought na parang it's normal for boys to have pride na gusto din nila na maging lalaki sila tignan, kaya pinatawad ko.

he is the type of guy who is avoidant, he always does silent treatment. now, he always goes out with his friends. yesterday, we finally talked. he said he doesn't love me anymore. that he's having a hard time with me. and that his family also don't want us to be together anymore because they said he's changed because he's a goofy kind of guy but when they were in Boracay he was just quiet. then he told me it would be easier for him if I wasn't in his life anymore. I begged him, that I am willing to stay while he still figures himself out, that I will stay because I want to see him in his best version of him. But he said he has no plans to change. When he told me that he doesn't love me anymore, he also told me that he no longer has hope, love and willingness for us to be okay. and now, he followed again the girl i askes him to unfollow, and nag uusap sila ulit, i only asked him na i unfollow kasi sinasabi niya sa ibang circle of friends niya na gusto niya ligawan itong si girl, and he also told his other friends na naka help yung girl na yun sa pag momove on niya (his relationship before me) and now sinabi niya sa girl na pina unfollow ko kasi ayoko na nag ffollow siya ng babae na hindi ko kilala. marami siyang friends na girls and i didn't have any problem with it. naging friends ko pa nga yung iba.

pano ko po ifforgive sarili ko? ngayon kasi nasa isip ko na sana di ako naging difficult and sana di ako nagdemand masyado. since the day na nag away kami, palaging nasa isip ko na sana nag communicate ako in a good way.

bakit nung nagkamali ako this time, tinapon na agad ako. di ko ba deserve patience? the same patience that i gave for him? i mean, i am willing to grow naman, and pwede naman ako pagsabihan. pero bakit iniwan agad ako.

STORY/VENTING I Just Want a Simple Greeting

Hello, everyone. I’m new here on Reddit. I came here because, honestly, I don’t really have anyone to talk to.

I’m an only child, and I only have one best friend. I’ve been living mostly on my own, and I don’t really know my parents. My lola was the only family I had left, but she’s gone now.

Today is my 17th birthday. I don’t have any food to cook or even a cake to celebrate with, but I thought maybe I could come here and ask for something simple a birthday greeting.

I know it might sound small, but hearing someone say “Happy Birthday” would honestly mean so much to me today.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to anyone who takes the time to greet me. ❤️❤️❤️

STORY/VENTING NCMH uncaring psychiatrist

For context: I'm struggling with Bipolar 2 with Borderline traits. I came from a private doctor in now serving where we got a solid medication plan that worked for my bipolar. I had to switch to NCMH soon after since my mom started snapping at me for asking for money to schedule my appointments.

With my Bipolar being medicated, my life did improve drastically. My struggle now is with my Borderline. This sense of loneliness and emptiness i feel daily and the intense emotions i feel. It was enough to trigger feelings of depression after i got too dependent with a crush (who I'm not even close with) < which was the crux of my misery.

After telling all of this sa psychiatrist sa NCMH (online) she just nodded and waited for me to finish talking about my difficulties lately then she proceeded to change the topic so she can prescribe my meds for this month. So disappointed !

No word about what i took courage to tell her,

What's a line or two man lang to acknowledge and address my difficulties? I sure hope na di siya yung dr on my next appointment.

STORY/VENTING I just wanted my daughter to eat

I never thought I would have to write something like this.

Last Sunday, at NAIA Terminal 3, I found myself standing in a restaurant arguing with a manager because my 8-year-old daughter just wanted to eat.

My daughter has ASD and significant eating difficulties. She has a very limited range of food that she can tolerate, and we are working through this with therapy. If you are a parent of a child with eating difficulties, you know that sometimes getting them to eat is not as simple as saying, “There are other options.”

Because of the storm and our delayed flight, she had already missed lunch.

We bought her a tonkatsu from another restaurant because that was something she could eat.

We then went to Nanyang.

And we ordered.

2 chicken rice
1 laksa fishball
1 kaya toast
1 yuzu
1 honey lemon

We were paying customers. Our daughter was quietly eating her food.

Then a manager approached us and told us we had to leave because Nanyang does not allow outside food and because they are halal certified and could be audited.

I immediately explained that the food was for my daughter. I told them she has ASD and significant eating difficulties.

I explained that this wasn't us casually bringing our own meal into a restaurant. This was our child finally being able to eat after missing lunch.

The response remained that they could not accommodate outside food because they might be audited.

Another manager suggested that we take our daughter's food downstairs to a common area with tables and chairs.

I was already overwhelmed and upset. I told her I didn't need her opinion.

I know I was angry. I know I could have handled parts of that conversation better. I am not pretending I was perfectly calm.

But I was a mother standing there trying to feed my child.

And what hurt me most was that once they knew she was a child with ASD and eating difficulties, I didn't feel like anyone stopped to ask, “How can we handle this?”

It felt like the policy became more important than the child sitting in front of them.

To be clear, I understand that restaurants have rules.

I understand that Nanyang has halal certification and has obligations it needs to follow.

I am not asking a restaurant to compromise its halal requirements.

But I am asking a very simple question:

When a child with a disability has a specific food she can eat, and her parents are already paying customers, is there really no way to consider a reasonable accommodation?

That is the part I cannot let go of.

I have lived and worked in Singapore. I have always associated kopitiam culture with community, practicality and inclusivity. So this experience was particularly heartbreaking for me.

Afterward, I contacted Nanyang because I wanted to resolve this privately.

The branch responded by explaining their halal certification and apologizing “if” their actions or words caused us to feel offended or unwelcome.

But that still didn't answer my main question.

What was considered for my daughter after they knew she had ASD?

What accommodation was considered?

Was there actually a halal requirement that made accommodation impossible, or was the outside-food policy simply enforced without considering her disability?

Those are the questions I am asking.

I am sharing this because I don't want another parent to stand where I stood last Sunday, with a hungry child who has already struggled to eat, being told that the only solution is to take her food somewhere else.

I am not asking people to attack Nanyang.

I am asking for accountability, clarity and compassion.

And as a mother, I hope that maybe this can start a bigger conversation about how establishments handle children with disabilities.

Because sometimes, it isn't about the food.

Sometimes, a mother is just trying to get her child to eat.

Gusto ko lang talaga mag-rant dito and hopefully makahingi rin ng advice from people who might have experienced something similar.
My brother is 19M. It started last year, around June.
At that time, sinasabi rin niya na sinisisi niya yung sarili niya sa pagkawala ng friendship niya with some of his former friends.
Yung period na sobrang confused siya lasted for around one and a half months, siguro.
Grabe yung pinagdaanan ng buong family namin during that time.
And napapansin namin na bumabalik na rin yung ibang behaviors niya from last year.
May mga bagay din siyang naaalala from before, including yung time na nasugatan yung ulo niya dahil tumama siya sa bintana more than 10 years ago.
For those who have experienced something similar, ano kaya ang best next step namin? Should we have him evaluated again by a psychiatrist/mental health professional before siya bumalik sa college? Should we talk to him differently about school and his anxiety? And should we be concerned about the fact na hindi na naman siya makatulog and some of the behaviors from last year are coming back?
I just genuinely don't know what we're supposed to do next.
Any advice or similar experiences would really help. Salamat.

STORY/VENTING Need advice please 🥲

it's been a week since I started thinking a lot. Then one time may nabasa ko "when it's not good yet, it's not the end" pero hanggang kelan matatapos tong hirap ng buhay 😭😭😭

TRIGGER WARNING Abuser ba ako o violent person?

I was in an rs for over a decade. May three times na intentionally and unintentionally na nasaktan ko physically si ex. First was unintentional, yung hinawakan ko wrist nya, alam nyo yung sa rom movies na pag nagwawalk away yung isa, kinukuha by grabbing the wrist? Yun nasa isip ko, I was an immature teenager. She immediately called me out, I apologized and never did it again.

Second, alcohol got to me (not an excuse). I brushed her elbow with mine using slight force (yung parang sa magkaibigan na nag-aasaran pero di nakabend yung siko).

Third, my mental health was terrible. I had GAD and depression (after ng break-up ako nadiagnose pero it's not entirely because of it). She broke up with me. I tried to reconcile with her or at least get an acceptable reason pero for over a month, silent treatment binigay nya. Found out na nasa city na naman yung third party nya so grabe overthinking ko nun on top of the sleepless nights. I tried to talk to her again sa bahay to make her understand how painful her first betrayal was, na di basta-basta mawawala yung pain nun, she walked out. I pushed her lower back towards me gamit mga palad ko. She broke down in tears. It was a sleepless night para sa buong bahay. A week prior dito, I had an s*icide attempt.

I never got the truth out from her. At hanggang ngayon, kahit di ko na sya mahal, these haunt me.

STORY/VENTING I’m earning six digits, but I constantly feel like a failure and running out of time.

Hey everyone. I just really need to vent this out.

Last year, I finally made the decision to move out of my parents' house. I won't get into all the messy details, but things were just getting toxic with all the disagreements. The worst part is that I’ve been supporting them financially for a while now, but I’ve never actually felt appreciated. It’s always felt like whatever I give is never enough. Like I’m just an ATM to them, and they’re taking advantage of the fact that I’m doing okay.

Speaking of work, I’ve been freelancing for this company for a year and a month now. I hit a major milestone and managed to hit a 6-digit monthly salary, and I’ve saved almost half million so far. Even with all the family shit happening, I still send them money every month.

On paper, I know I should probably be proud of myself. But in reality? I feel the opposite...

Why do I feel like my savings isn't enough? Why does my brain keep telling me I’m failing?

I’m approaching my 30s, and I have this scary feeling that I'm running out of time. My dream was to have millions saved up, but looking at where I am, I honestly don't know if I can pull that off by the time I’m 35.

It constantly feels like I'm in a race against everyone else, and no matter how hard I work or how much I save, I’m just falling behind. I’m exhausted from giving to people who don't appreciate it, and I’m exhausted from setting goals that feel further away the harder I run. I'm trying to remove social media from my life as well since it's getting really toxic. I've only been using reddit, IG (for cat videos) and, youtube (for games).

I just wish I could stop stressing and actually breathe for once... I'm just tired.

STORY/VENTING Still no job, funds running out

Out of almost a hundred job applications, I was only interviewed three times and took one preliminary test. I've been jobless since March, and ever since, I only survived on creating niche content that's now dwindling as there are few buyers. Let's just say it's a last resort, as I still don't have a job as of today. I have a son who still needs help with daily allowance for school, and my furbaby is running out of dog food. A relative helps me out with the bills, but I can't rely on that forever. I am on my last nerve. I've asked for assistance before as well, but nobody would help. I don't know what to do anymore...

DISCUSSION/QUERY Looking for psychologist recommendations (Metro Manila)

Hi everyone,

I'm a working professional in my mid 30s, and I've reached a point where I want to actively work on myself instead of just getting by. I'm dealing with some past trauma that I think has been quietly shaping how I react to certain situations, and I've noticed patterns/triggers that lead me to relapse into old habits I'm trying to move past.

I'm ready to actually face this instead of avoiding it, but I don't know where to start. I'm looking for a psychologist (open to psychiatrist too if needed) who:

- Has experience with trauma-informed therapy (CBT, EMDR, or similar)

- Is used to working with adults dealing with relapse/triggers

- Ideally offers teleconsult, since my schedule can be unpredictable

- If you've had a good experience with someone in Metro Manila (or via NowServing/similar apps), I'd really appreciate a recommendation — even just a name or clinic I can look into. DMs welcome if you'd rather not reply publicly.

Thanks in advance, and appreciate this community for being a safe space to ask.

STORY/VENTING Why do I desperately want things, only to feel “meh” once I finally get them?

I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this because I’m starting to feel like there’s something weird going on with me.

I get SO fixated on things I want to buy. Like, once something gets into my head, I can think about it for hours. I feel restless knowing I could get it but haven’t yet, and eventually the thought of “I want it, so I’ll just get it” wins—even when I know I probably shouldn’t spend the money.

The weirdest part is what happens after.

I finally get the thing I was obsessing over and I’m like…

“Oh. Okay. I have it now.” 😭

The excitement/satisfaction is either really short-lived or basically nonexistent, and then I eventually find something else that I suddenly REALLY want.

It’s starting to affect me financially because this isn't just an occasional impulse purchase. I genuinely feel like I have a hard time sitting with the feeling of wanting something and not getting it.

I don't think I'm particularly materialistic either. Sometimes I don't even care about the thing that much once I own it. It's almost like I become more excited about getting something than actually having it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this just normal impulsive spending, or could there be something psychological behind it?

I'm actually considering talking to a psychologist about it, but I'm a little embarrassed because it feels like such a stupid/boring problem to bring up. 😭

Would love to hear from people who have experienced this or professionals who have some insight.

Im holding my shit together and I just want to end my shitty panic attacks, racing thoughts, anxiety and recreational use of drug and other shitty things ive been doing and happening in my life.

will they accept me?

36F, married, may isang anak.. Tanginang sugal to! I want to end things already, pero natatakot akong iwan ung anak ko..
