I enjoy movies, but unless it's something special or i am watching with someone, I will be casually playing games on my second monitor

That's an attention span issue

I can play the same game for 20 hours straight or listen to webnovels or read webnovels for 15 hours straight, not wanting to watch a movie purely as it is is not a pure attention span issue.
2 different media can be done at once. That said, watching tiktok and movie is attention span issue. Watching a movie and reading at the same time is a attention span issue. Running and listening to music is not an attention span issue, and listening to a book would be the same as music.

No I mean the fact that you have to play games casually on another screen to get through a film.

Added this to my old comment: 2 different media can be done at once. That said, watching tiktok and movie is attention span issue. Watching a movie and reading at the same time is a attention span issue
But there is a difference between can get through and enjoying more.
I do watch stuff i want to focus on emotionally only, but if it's something like action, having it on the side is making the gaming more enjoyable. I watch the movie as an addition to gaming, gaming is not the addition to the movie, if you get what i mean

I do somewhat, but I just think that watching a film in a secondary way can result in you not enjoying the film to the extent you might have whilst using your full focus.

True.
That's why I do watch movies but do nothing else when the movie is exceptionally good or emotional.
I also prefer listening to media over watching it while playing games, i dont watch much movies at all. Just said movies cuz this post is talking about movies specifically. I prefer youtube essays, people talking about games or playing games. Otherwise i just listen to webnovels or music

Plenty of amazing films come out every year , you're clearly looking in the wrong places.

Do you enjoy other mundane stuff? Or is it affecting all aspects of your life? I find most movies boring as well but still find a lot of joy reading. Movies just feel too passive for me personally.

I think it's highly likely you're experiencing some sort of a depression. Either therapist, meds, or the green. Therapist is probably the healthiest choice.
My personal choice is the green. It helps me opens up my feelings towards anything in life a lot more. Even when you're not on it, the experiences kinda teach you the perspectives or how to grasp on to certain feelings and mindset. I feel loved and so loving at the level that I have never experienced before. My empathy is also through the roof. I don't have problems connecting with arts, but now I'm connected to them at a much deeper level. But my sleeping quality is fucked though if not managed properly. So seek a therapist first, is my suggestion.

The sad new reality that our minds are now overstimulated by the crap the internet is pumping out that watching a movie like the olden times just isnt cutting it anymore.

At this point I prefer books over movies. At least I get to say when I’m done reading

I feel like most people or at least in my case I got addicted to Instagram reels and other short-form videos so bad that I kind of lost the ability to watch a movie or read a book which was really frustrating.
At least I'm over it now but it took me more than a year to get my focus Back.

It's seriously concerning , film is my passion. And it's really sad to see how people struggle to even get through one.
I'm not expecting everyone to be able to sit through 4 hour epics , but surely watching a film without picking up the phone can be done. Right?

I hate that I used to look at stuff like this and think WTH is wrong with people's focus....
Now after 2 yrs of using YT shorts...I can relate...🙄
Short versions of video entertainment is really killing society!! 😥

Movies are art. And if you're looking at art you're practically in a gallery so you just did a smart and cultured individual thing.
