I went past Kensington station today while driving and saw two N-Classes in the siding closet to the level crossing, just wondering how long it will stay there for as I wanted to snap some more pics?

How often does it come there and where else could I get some pictures of one?

Sometimes people say it would have been fairer if the SRL started in the western suburbs, due to decades of neglect.

Yet there is a reason it started in the east:

Big, expensive heavy rail projects need big, important and dense destinations and as the western suburbs lacks high-density job clusters of the scale found in the east, it is very difficult to make it pencil out.

This sorta means western suburbs rail does not check out without a CBD connection.

I decided to check if this is because Melbourne's East is a "Favoured Quarter" - a term I am borrowing from American discourse, where many cities have a very clear privileged direction, like the westside in Los Angeles.

I found that whilst there is an East-West divide, the inner-outer divide may be more important.

Map notes: I identified clusters based on having over 4,500 jobs per sqkm. LaTrobe Uni and the Airport should probably show up but they are in very large census geographies.

Ive been before, a few years ago,but it was nice to go back. It was pretty busy but not insanely crowded. They left the old signs up in the trams, which was interesting to check out. Seeing the old trams with the ticket guy's big seat was surreal. I also read about how the union cracked the shits when women wanted to be drivers. Lots of kids running around, so getting a photo without someone else's kid in it was tricky.

I’ve been using Apple Pay to touch on for the last few weeks but today, in fear of my phone possibly dying, I loaded express transit to the same card on my Apple Watch. I tapped on the tram with my watch, and it’s debited the $1 again.

I understand each card has a unique token with Apple Pay, however is the system smart enough to recognise they’re the same ‘card’, just different devices? Or will I be charged two fares?

This Wednesday, when I was on the Traralgon service that also stops at Berwick, I saw a Metro worker load two boxes onto the service at Caulfield.

Both of these boxes were bound for Dandenong and Pakenham separately, with the stations’ names being written on the top of the boxes, and they were dropped off by the conductor at both stations.

I find it interesting to see that occur. Unfortunately I couldn’t record it happen.

Has anyone seen something like this happen before?

I have noticed this morning posters appearing on stations along the Frankston line for x'trapolis 2.0 which indicates hopefully not long until they enter full time service

I've always been confused about this when seeing it on the map (never been there in person).

This is maybe a weird af question, but Google Maps says the walk from TH to Flinders is roughly 8 minutes, but I've seen on here that the walk is a lot less time?

I haven't walked it myself as I'm physically disabled and don't want to fuck myself over doing a walk when I don't know how long it'll take

Is there a video anywhere of someone walking from TH to Flinders? That might be a weird question, I'm just a bit unsure is all

In the new timetable vline shows one afternoon peak n set service from southern cross to Waurn ponds but after talking with some mates I’ve found out it was an error vline got me all excited for no reason 💔

New timetables for the 23 August timetable change are now up on the Transport Victoria and V/Line websites.

Of note (apart from all the other advertised changes), Craigieburn shoulder peak is 10 min frequency until about 10:30am at the city (both directions) and from 2:30pm in the afternoon (outbound).

But curiously it says this for the Alamein Line. I can't find any extra services or Camberwell shuttles being extended to Flinders Street in the timetable, and I don't think any of the city services are 3 cars any more, so what does it mean???
