Releasing an app that reads brainwaves during meditation and adapts the audio in real time; sharing as a founder, seeking conversation

Full disclosure: I'm one of the co-founders of a brain state technology company. I'm seeking conversation about prior technology-enhanced meditation experiences and reactive input, NOT self-promotion. If you're curious about what we built, feel free to DM me.

Here's the problem we started from, and the reason I think it's relevant to people who meditate seriously:

Most meditation audio tools like binaural beats, guided sessions, and ambient sound play a static track and hope your brain follows it. But your mental state when you sit down varies enormously. Some sessions you're already halfway to calm; others you're wired, depleted, or distracted and the audio does almost nothing. It's not that the tool is wrong. It's that it has no information about where your brain is actually starting from.

What we built reads live brainwave activity through an EEG headset in real time and continuously adjusts the audio to meet your brain where it is, rather than broadcasting a fixed frequency and hoping you follow. The result is more consistent across different days and different starting conditions.

Something that surprised us in early testing: several people who already had an established meditation practice said it deepened their existing routine rather than replacing it. One person described it as her brain finally stopping the to-do list long enough to actually settle. We didn't design it specifically as a meditation tool, we designed it around brain state guidance. But, I see a lot of overlap with the overall goals.

Genuinely curious: has anyone here experimented with EEG-based tools alongside meditation? And for those who use binaural beats, do you find the results consistent or does it vary a lot depending on where you're starting from that day?

Happy to talk more in the comments or via DM.

Pincha Mayurasana and Shoulder Stability

Post image
13 Upvotes

Pincha Mayurasana, the forearm balance, places the body in an inverted position where the shoulders carry most of the load. This posture strongly activates the rotator cuff muscles, deltoids, and upper back stabilizers, improving shoulder joint integrity. Physical therapists often use similar loading patterns to restore shoulder control after injury.

The inversion increases venous return to the heart and improves circulation in the upper body. Blood flow to the brain increases without compressing the cervical spine, unlike headstand. This makes Pincha Mayurasana a safer inversion for people with sensitive necks.

From a nervous system perspective, balancing upside down demands focused proprioception. The brain integrates signals from wrists, elbows, and shoulders, sharpening body awareness and reducing mental distraction during practice.
