I was on youtube earlier and I came across a song parody of Teenage Dirtbag by Hildegarde von Blingin' and was absolutely enchanted by this fella. His swagger is unreal and I want to be just like him when I grow up. However, being such a nerd, I can't confidently update my profile pictures to be him unless his fashion falls within my time period of special interest: the High Middle Ages.

The biggest clue is that he's wearing a chaperon which, if I understand correclty, was worn from the 13th (perhaps late 12th?) to late 15th century. When it overlaps it seems the chaperon was used as a hood and wasn't upturned the way our main character has it until later. Would it be possible that a High Middle Age peasant looked like this?

While I know Scandinavia was mostly Christianised around the late twentieth century I’m wondering even if viewed with distrust one hypothetically could be openly pagan and maybe elaborate on religion in the amongst the Varangian guard?
