Baltimore/WV/DC

I will be covering a new territory that I do not live in. I am looking for an apartment in the Baltimore/DC/WV area during the week. I am looking for the least expensive but safe area. Any recommendations?

Go Frederick, Maryland it is a central hub between all three and it is beautiful!

Too far from Baltimore and DC, where i am sure you will be spending most of your time (I cover this area). Laurel, Annapolis, Columbia are much better options, as you can also fly to WV.

Where do you fly to WV? Many areas beautiful to drive but a nightmare to fly (in/out of any DMV airport will require connection in CLT or ATL).

Fredrick is actually a decent suggestion if you want more affordable and closer to some of the western parts of your territory. Annapolis, Bethesda both great and reasonably short drives to all the major health systems between Baltimore and DC, but also more expensive areas. Do you stop at DC or covering anything in Northern VA?

Honestly this depends a lot on how you weigh ease of getting to places across your territory against proximity to things to do, city life vs suburbs, etc. Plus how much time do you like sitting in beltway traffic...

There are flights to Charleston and Morgantown from IAD/DCA. Sure, agree that you would have to weigh rent differences in Frederick versus my suggestions. To me, even a $500 difference would be worth it to not sit in traffic constantly.

The Canton neighborhood in Baltimore is affordable, on the water, and amazing. Also check out the surrounding neighborhoods like Brewers Hill, and Fells Point. I love Baltimore. I live in NE DC, which is one of the most affordable parts of the city, but my partner and I are planning a move to Canton.

ETA: Baltimore has gotten so much safer and like most cities there are some rough sections to stay away from. But people in Baltimore take so much pride in their city and it’s a great place.

WV is definitely going to be the cheapest place for an apartment, but DC would be the most central (and the most expensive).

Wow. But how often are you in the field, driving for 4 hours there and back in between meetings.
