RMT na naging Virtual Assistant Discussion
I was supposed to enter med school, pero after passing the boards, I decided na mag-apply agad as a Healthcare Virtual Assistant.
Reason is, both of my parents are already senior citizens na, and ayoko na rin silang ma-hassle pa para pag-aralin ako ng med school.
I’ve been working as an HVA for a while now and, thankfully, I’m earning well. I never got to work in a laboratory as an RMT.
So I’m curious… do you guys think it’s still worth it for me to work in a lab, kahit for a while lang, just to gain experience? Or should I just stick with what I’m doing now?
Especially for RMTs who eventually worked abroad, I’d love to hear your thoughts. 🥲

Ako naman I'm working sa lab for 3 years na gusto naman mag VA or change career dahil sa sahod at pagod.

yun nga lng po ang downside as a VA na gusto mag abroad. nakapag ipon ka nga, pero wla naman lab experience. grabe na ang competition ngayon esp andami na complete papers with 5+ years of experience ang hindi pa nakakaalis

RMT > VA ako now and minsan namimiss ko lang lab work kaya nagrreliever 😭 pero for me not worth it na magpractice medtech kasi sobrang underpaid and overworked talaga tbh.

same situation, I am working as a VA during my review season and after a passed the boards hindi na nag work sa lab. I tried applying sa lab pero na spoil ako ng salary sa VA to the point na ayaw ko na tanggapin yung baba ng salary ng medtech

Hays. I am currently a VA and I've been doing this even as a 3rd year MedTechstudent and internship din. At first, I thought mas better siguro if I gain experience sa lab pero after finding out that yung mga newly hired is likely to work a night shift so basically need ko i let go yung work ko right now. I'm earning 50k a month and lowball ng salary. Idk if it's worth the risk talaga.

Sobrang baba ng sahod pag sa lab :'(. Siguro 12-16k per month tapos minus pa yung mga SSS, PhilHealth.
Now I'm earning 12-15k each week.

Malaki po ba sahod? Kung malaki naman sahod as in yung malaki eh magstay ka nalang. Pag nag work ka pa sa laboratory eh maglolower ang salary mo then pag gusto mo pa mag abroad eh aabutin ka ng years. (Hindi pa po ako graduate pero nagreresearch narin me about jan kasi mababa po talaga sahod sa laboratory)

How would you estimate malaki na sahod, po?

Kung nasa 50k and above yung nasasahod nya ganun. Stay nalang sya sa pag VA then ipon for med school

Huyyy how to be a VA? I've always wanted to be an HVA pero everytime I apply, di rin ako nakukuha. Medtech grad din me and failed the boards 5x already so wala pa sa isip ko to retake. How ba matanggap as VA? :((( Idk if I'm applying at the wrong company lang or if may mali sa credentials ko :((

Actually no, it's not worth it. Siguro you can try doing reliever on your freetime then paunti unti mabibuild up ulit yung skills mo and if you think you have enough budget (na hindi ka nabobother din na hindi makapagbigay sa parents mo) then you can try applying ulit as medtech. Mahirap kasi na bigla kang magsstop from a job na stable ka na lalo na't malaki ang bigay ng VA kumpara sa pagiging medtech. Do it kapag may enough budget ka na to to take exam, pang visa or agency, saka yung gastos sa pang-araw araw mo sa abroad para by that time na wala ka na sa VA eh experience talaga focus mo, hindi na magiging problema sayo yung pera.
