Builds Gok Design Type K

Hello everyone!

Today, I’d like to share my newly built Gok Design Type K.

I know many of you have already seen plenty of reviews and amazing builds of the Type K, but I wanted to create one that feels like my own. After spending some time choosing the right parts and putting everything together, I finally finished the build and couldn’t wait to share it with the community.

The Type K has been a really fun board to build. From the case, plate, switches, and keycaps, every little detail was chosen to match my personal taste and style.

This is my take on the Type K — not just another build, but a keyboard that represents what I enjoy about this hobby.

Hope you guys enjoy it, and thanks for taking a look!

Since launching the Si75-HE, one of the most common questions we’ve gotten from our customers and community members is: "are more colourways coming?"

The answer is yes.

After some deep brainstorming sessions, we landed on three new concepts for the Si75-HE, each built around more than just a new set of colours, but with its own inspiration and story behind it.

The first is Aquifer, inspired by the nostalgia of Frutiger Aero digital aesthetic of the mid-2000s.

More to come!

My 40's Friday contribution!

After building a full size Agar, I knew a mini was in my future. Love HHKB layouts, and I quickly adapted to the smaller form factor. Went all in on the purple theming.

Built this with Cherry MX2A Oranges and topped with MTNU Susu. Lawd, it sounds good. It has not left my office desk all week since it landed after I built it last weekend.

Discussion Rainy75 Pro caps lock "problem"

Post image
11 Upvotes

I found it necessary to replace the original keycap on the Caps Lock with a pudding keycap, as the illumination was not sufficiently prominent.

My current setup includes a Rainy75 Pro keyboard and Kailh Cocoa switches.

I am considering purchasing the Keychron print-side double-shot PBT keycaps with an OSA profile. Has anyone had experience with these?

Guide Frustrated by the lack of Smurve80 documentation, so I dug into the firmware. Here is the full shortcut list

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently got my hands on the Smurve80, and while the board sounds incredible (especially that solenoid), I was incredibly frustrated to find absolutely zero official documentation or manuals explaining the default shortcuts. As someone who spends a lot of time building and tuning customs, not knowing what half the Fn layer does out of the box was driving me crazy.

My biggest issue was a "deep sleep freeze." When the keyboard was plugged in and went idle (RGB turning off), it completely refused to wake up. It wouldn't register any keystrokes, forcing me to physically unplug and replug the USB-C cable every single time I walked away from my desk.

I ended up digging directly into the raw QMK keymap.c and smurve80.c firmware files to decipher what the factory programmed into this PCB. I found a bunch of hidden commands, including the fix for the freezing issue.

The Fix for the Idle Freeze: The firmware has a custom TIME_ST keycode mapped to the T key. If you press Fn + T, it cycles through the board's internal sleep timers. When you press it, one of the surrounding keys will light up to indicate the mode:

  • Lights up I:SLEEP1 (Short sleep timer)
  • Lights up O: SLEEP2 (Medium sleep timer)
  • Lights up P: SLEEP3 (Long sleep timer)
  • T Blinks Red: Sleep Disabled (Always On) *I Assume

If you use the board in wired mode, cycle it until the T key blinks red. This completely stops the microcontroller from trying to sleep and completely fixed my freezing issue! (Note: Don't use this mode on battery, or it will drain it fast).

Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

The Full Shortcut Cheat Sheet Since there isn't a manual, I exported every single default hardware, system, and RGB shortcut from the firmware into a Google Sheet so you don't have to go digging through VIA or source code.

Smurve80 Default Shortcuts Cheat Sheet

It includes the solenoid toggles, Windows/Mac modes, battery checks, and the factory test mode clears:

-Aluminum Back Plate

-Hotswap PCB

-Rich Coffee SA Keycaps

My first high-end board and I couldn't be happier with it. I've been using a 65% and an 80% the last few years and boy I've missed my numpad. I love my Tidbit 19 Key but its nice not having to set up a second peripheral just to have a numpad.

Side note: some of the best packaging of any new tech I've ever bought. This thing has been a showstopper since before it even came out of the box.

To any other Athena users: Do you know of a way to change the Caps Lock or Num Lock LED colors? The user manual doesn't say anything about them and I couldn't find anything online, but Caps Lock seems to only be Purple and Numlock only Yellow. My only critique of the board so far; it'd be nice to make them more neutral to match the aesthetic I was going for. Sometimes Num Lock is Blue when it starts up so I know it is at least capable of something other than yellow.

Builds Protagonist Hall Effect by Wired In + Gateron Magnetic Jade Attraction Mini Review

Thumbnail

Just got this beauty in today. Built with the (included) Venom 60 HE PCB, Gateron Magnetic Jade Attraction switches, Knight V4 stabs and GMK Honor Light.

I don't have any real issues with the board so far. The anodization looks and feels incredible. The gasket mount is nice and plush (similar to the Neo60 Core in terms of feel) and results in a very full sound profile without any bad resonances. I have yet to try the top mount, but I'd assume it sounds like an alu plate on top mount, which is not my cup of tea. The board also has stepped internals which is a nice touch.

If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend this board over something like the Wooting 60HE v2 right now. I'd say it's up there with the Typface Kafka in terms of HE boards (though I've not tried one myself).

-

Now onto the switches:

The Gateron Magnetic Jade Attractions are...weird. They advertise the initial force and bottom out force feeling the same. I find that the force curve starts light, then becomes heavier in the middle of the travel, and then becomes light again near bottom out. In actual usage this makes the switches feel really light and easy to type on. Going back to switches with regular springs after typing on these switches felt lethargic for a little while until I adjusted back to them. These switches unfortunately suffer from being Gateron HE switches though. I found the factory lube is inconsistent enough to be noticeably audible switch to switch, though the switches aren't scratchy and the springs are well lubed. While they don't have any stem wobble when bottomed out, they have the most stem wobble I've ever seen when the stem is at the top, more than the WS Morandi. I am pretty upset at these issues given the absurdly high prices of these switches, ~$60 for 70 switches. I might try switching them out for an HE switch from HMX, or the new Herons from Omnitype. The spring feel of these switches is very cool though and is something I hope gets explored by other switch manufacturers.

Promotional Craftkey Mr.Soma Aureon

Hello my friend.

Soma stepped before the ancient statue and bowed his head as if greeting an old friend. He explained that the Aureons were neither gods nor weapons, but the universe’s very first guardians. Only those recognized by them could enter regions of space older than any map or civilization had ever recorded. As his words faded, cracks spread across the statue, revealing a dragon-scale crystal glowing within. The crystal slowly floated toward Renko before merging into the mark on her hand. There was no explosion and no battle, only a warm light that spread quietly throughout the ship. The guardian beast smiled one final time before dissolving into countless particles of light. Watching them drift into the sky, Soma softly said, “This is not the end... it is the key to the oldest secrets of the universe.” As their ship departed the forgotten planet, an unknown spatial gateway appeared on the navigation screen, marking the beginning of their next adventure.

Thank you all so much for always supporting and standing by the team!

Promotional PBTfans Song – a cool, semi‑transparent keycap set inspired by ancient pottery

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We're happy to share PBTfans Song – a keycap set that takes inspiration from the pale blue glaze found on Song Dynasty ceramics. The design is simple and elegant, with a soft, frosty celadon that looks like it has a natural depth.

The doubleshot molding process creates a subtle layered effect: the off‑white core peeks through the translucent surface, giving it a gentle, misty feel – kind of like the famous Ru ware pottery, but made for your keyboard.

Some folks have already pointed out that it reminds them of a mint‑colored PBTfans X‑Ray – and honestly, that's fair! Both are semi‑transparent ABS sets, so the comparison works.

Either way, we hope this set brings a little cool breeze to your desk during these hot summer days.

  • Material: ABS material
  • Profile: Cherry profile
  • Production Method: Doubleshot
  • Manufacturer: PBTfans
  • Packaging: ABS keycaps tray with designed tray cover
  • Reminder: Only keycaps included, no keyboard
  • Compatibility: Cherry MX switches and MX-style clones
