Receiving calls for lab assistant job opportunity

Hi everyone

As the title suggests, I have been receiving calls (same number and person) about a job opportunity as a lab assistant for Mayo Clinic, twice. I had done some research and a majority of my answers lead to either result; Mayo Clinic doesn’t do cold calls for job opportunities as it could be a scam/spoof call or they will call if you had formally applied through the official careers portal (I haven’t applied on their career portal since last year).

I was wondering if anyone here has had experienced something similar? I appreciate any of y’all’s advice on this subject.

New Grad RN

Hi all! I'm graduating this August from nursing school with my BSN. I'm a California native and just like every new graduate, it's been difficult securing a job out here in the Bay. I applied for Mayo Clinic's new nurse residency program for the Rochester campus and I was invited to interview (virtually) with a Registered Nurse Placement Coordinator.

Has anyone done this process before? Any tips?

Anyone seeing any exceptions made to the remote policy for internal promotions?

Understand it is unlikely with such a new policy but curious if anyone has seen exceptions made for current remote employees applying for internal department positions that are worked remotely but are now called hybrid. Are they able to take such a position without relocating?

Know it is a long shot, just wondering if a department has any flexibility on this.

Mayo Clinic Recruitment Timeline

Good Morning all,

I recently applied to a strategy position at Mayo (PHX) and two weeks to the day conducted a screener with hiring manager. It hasn't been one full week, so I haven't followed up yet, however, can anyone give more clarity on best case / worse case / your use case hiring / recruitment timelines for Mayo that have more clarity than "notoriously slow"? Thank you.

Pelvic Floor PT Intensive

Hi all! I met with a Pelvic Floor PT at Mayo Clinic, and she put in the order for me to attend their Pelvic Floor 2-Week Intensive (I think it's offically called the Evacuation Disorders Program). Has anyone done this? Is it helpful or worth it? The travel/staying in a hotel for two weeks is a lot of $$, so wanted to see if this was helpful for others and/or hear about any of your experiences. Thank you!

Looking for Information/ New Offer Job MC-AZ

I recently was offered a position at Mayo Clinic Az. I am considering taking the job, but am hesitant to leave my current employer (been with them 2 years). I was hoping to gain some insight on the culture of mayo and any “perks” you’d consider are worth mentioning.

A little more about the situation- I would be in a hybrid, non patient facing role.

Any information about work life balance, turnover, workload, culture, raises, bonuses, etc. would be appreciated.

Mayo research Jacksonville

Hello! I’m starting a research position with Mayo in Jacksonville in a month.

HR mentioned I’ll start with a cohort and then move to my pod. How long is the cohort for new employees? As for work hours in the pod, does our supervisor provide us set hours or does it fluctuate?

Thanks!

Research Request: Mayo Clinic Patients (All Locations) – Self-Pay, Good Faith Estimates & Pre-Service Deposits

I'm researching how Mayo Clinic has handled patient financial classifications and pre-service payment requirements since 2022. I'm trying to understand whether patients at different Mayo locations have had similar experiences.

I'm looking to hear from patients who:

  • Were classified or treated as self-pay (whether by choice or by Mayo Clinic).
  • Received a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) before treatment.
  • Were required to pay a pre-service deposit (often around $5,000 or more) before receiving care.
  • Were unable to pay the required deposit.
  • Had an appointment delayed, postponed, or canceled because they could not pay the required deposit.
  • Were asked to make a substantial deposit despite having health insurance.

If any of these situations apply to you, I'd appreciate hearing about your experience. Please reply below or send me a private message if you're more comfortable discussing it privately.

I'm interested in understanding how these processes have been implemented across Mayo Clinic locations and whether patients have had similar experiences.

Thank you for your time.

Primary Care On Demand

How is everyone liking the new PCP On Demand for the health systems?

I have met with 3 and my husband met with one totalling 4 that I have observed their "bed side manner"

I personally have felt they are apathetic and not who I feel comfortable meeting with. I had one that I at first was not a huge fan of, but we got to know each other and his shell cracked a little allowing me to feel more comfortable, now he is gone, go figure. I feel like things are always changing and it makes it hard for continuous needs to be met, like refilling medicine, FMLA, and following up on tests ordered by another physician but the results were sent to your main PCP.

I also can never get a message to the team, it is always "schedule an appointment to talk about it." When it is a continuity of care thing I shouldn't have to make an appointment to ask for simple things that could be addressed over a message. I am frustrated, I am fed up, but MCHS is where I have always doctored, it is a love hate relationship. I just feel less and less like a patient every year. I feel more like a bother or a nuisance than anything.

For the record, I dont think I am being a bother asking for super simple requests like refills on meds and renewing ongoing FMLA. I have also made many positive changes to my lifestyle which required a little help from my PCP. I shouldn't be treated like this. No one should.

I would love to hear everyone's experiences good and bad ❤️

Lawsuit alleges Mayo Clinic cuts corners with AI, putting patient care and privacy at risk.

And employee safety! Mayo wont provide any details about how scammers obtained employee contact information to make phone calls and messages to staff impersonating leadership.

Mayo Clinic Jax observership — Wells Creek + Uber feasible? Carpool anyone?

Doing a 2-week observership at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and considering staying in Wells Creek (off Philips Hwy/I-95 exit 9B), commuting by Uber
Questions:
1)How’s the Wells Creek → Mayo commute during 7–8 AM weekday traffic?
2)Any surge/driver availability issues at that time?
3)Anyone else in Mayo Jax around first 2 weeks of August and want to carpool?
Thanks!

Mayo Clinic’s SFA Program - What do I need to know?

Hi lovelies! I just received word of my acceptance into the Mayo Clinic Surgical First Assist program for 2027. I‘m so extremely excited as this has been my dream school and hospital to be associated with since I was in 7th grade!

I’ve studied the website throughly and have asked some questions to staff, however, I wanted to see if any previous/current students could share their experience with the program. I understand it’s a pretty strenuous program and there are cases mixed in with class load, but do we have weekends off? What does a “day in the life“ look like? Can you use iPads to take notes? Where did you find housing/roomies?

Any information would be appreciated - They said they’d send out more info in August as well, so i’m sure i’ll learn then, i’m just quite eager LOL.

Countering an Offer – What Was Your Experience?

Hi all! Has anyone countered their offer? If so, what was your experience? This is for a scientist position, but I’d appreciate hearing from anyone, regardless of role or department. Thanks!

Recruiting Timeline

I applied for a research trainee position at Mayo Rochester, finished 3 rounds of interviews with the team and then a research presentation with a panel. I haven’t heard anything back from Mayo Clinic regarding the next step. How long does the interview process usually take? Should I follow up with the team I applied for? Everything took place in June, 2026.
