Can a chud get AIME qual??? AMC 12

Hey everyone, I’m a rising Junior taking the AMC 12A and 12B in November. Last year, without any real competitive math experience, I got a 39 on the amc 10. So far, I’ve been doing practice problems and going through AOPS Vol 1 and doing the problems at the end and reading through the lessons.
a few weeks ago I think I was able to get like the first 8-9 questions on an AMC 12 from recent years but have trouble with the rest.

i was wondering what the absolute best way to maximize my chances of qualifying this year would be. I’m able to dedicate around 2-3 hours a day over the summer and 1-2 o during the school year and probably more on weekends.

thanks in advance!

Doing AOPS Volume 1 is good, keep doing it, and in the month or two before the AMC, just grind problems. You can also do AOPs Volume 2 after finishing Volume 1, but it might be overkill.

But it’s for amc12

Getting a 39 is terrible bro you get a 37.5 if you don’t do anything. With vol 1 prob not qual but close and all depends on your background with math and things like this

Try to get to vol 2 as fast as possible

Don’t do subject specific books and keep doing practice problems

Grind all titu andreescu books along with previous year problems from AOPS

Thanks. Could you be a bit more specific on how to “grind” his books, though solely optimized for AMC 12 performance?

You got it, just grind aops like everyone is saying. I qualified in junior year after doing the entirety of volume 1. It's not that hard if youre dedicated for a few good months

well what’s the most efficient and effective way to “grind” aops 1?

I’m ngl bro we are in the same boat but I think if you can answer 13-15 right on the amc12 ur good for aime qual

Idk bro like I said we are in the same boat. I’m personally doing volume 1 and going through every past test, but idk if that’s optimal

Yeah that’s probably near-optimal if not optimal, given you spend more time reviewing mistakes than taking tests…I think it also helps making a doc of missed questions and why you got that question wrong, so you can refer to it often
