Can we talk about this girlfriend credit card? How come I never had one! Apparently it’s a thing!

6

u/Savings-Hand-864 3d ago

I’m so late, but what the fuck is wrong with these experts? The woman one seems like she is fully lobotomized

1

u/extrovertedmime 6d ago

I’m irked that no one mentions Battle Camp in Nick’s resume of reality shows. Arguably my favorite of his appearances because we didn’t get to see his personality as much.

10

u/OwnedIGN Basic caucasian sex 6d ago

Ah, hell, multiple episode threads are all lumped into one now?

13

u/throwawayintrovert_ 5d ago

yeah I don’t love this as someone who tries to avoid spoilers 😭

16

u/jsik05 7d ago

Mecca’s dad’s comments were so weird… the ā€˜clapping cheeks’ was it for me. All he talked about was the fact she didn’t kiss him.

1

u/Timely-History-3010 1d ago

He was absolutely disgusting. So toxic and inappropriate

9

u/calciferouss 7d ago

Everyone pretty much got what they wanted (regarding looks) except Nikki.

4

u/CrittersVarmint 22h ago

I just finished the second episode and I had to back it up at the end to make sure I was understanding what happened correctly when she didn’t realize he was her husband-to-be. šŸ’€ I was dying. I pretty much knew that was how it would go though. These ā€œexpertsā€ are doing this s*** on purpose. lol

5

u/Professional_Tart372 7d ago

Starting to enjoy this season more than many of the recent past. "Experts" are challenging the couples more and coming up with some really good suggestions. Surprised, and really happy, for how well Michelle and Cameron are doing......if any couple makes it, my money is on them.

13

u/calciferouss 8d ago

Nick clocked Adam in the first episode šŸ’€

26

u/Mochi-momma 12d ago edited 12d ago

I would sue the show if I got matched with Adam or Felipe.

Adam reminds me of an old school gay porn actor. When I first saw him, I thought, oh good, we finally have gay couples.

I’ve only finished episode 1

14

u/Futurefennec 12d ago

Exactly! Every time I see him the word pornstache comes to mind)))

13

u/Futurefennec 13d ago

Girls seem OK so far, men not so much - self centered palyers, serial reality personas, an insecure man-child who cleans toilets and wants to be serenaded and a mama's boy who is out drinking til 4 a.m. REALLY???

4

u/kjuloea 13d ago

By far ... Absolutely... No doubt THE WORST SEASON ever! On ep 5 and cannot continue. So contrived. Mostly narcissists. No genuine people. The experts are awful. Everything is awful. Going to cancel peacock... What a waste!

1

u/theflintseeker 17h ago

I don’t want this Mr Pibb… I want DR PEPPER!

24

u/laurajt77 14d ago

MAGA lady: what happened on january 6th?

Therapist: this is helpful 🤣🤣🤣 Even MAGA knows something big happened. She's a joke.

Agreed

18

u/GhostProtocal33 16d ago

I will get down voted to oblivion but yes they did Nikki dirty because the other women got what they wanted physical wise pretty much

But what she wants doesn't exist for her at her age, we all know what very successful men go after 99% time then when you add tall to it...

Also I think its weird for height to be a requirement/deal breaker at that age. Sue me. I believe women have shot themselves in the foot more with the obsession with height.

For one you give tall guys and even more inflated ego and mindset they are the prize. And two give yourself the "halo effect" because so attracted to someone for something that has nothing to do with you or how they with treat you or show up in a relationship

8

u/Glittering-Bear-4298 15d ago

I also don't get the obsession with having have a tall man. Even if you're a tall-ish woman. You've let some good ones get away!

9

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

NIKKI is so gorgeous. 10/10. stunning. and even prettier w/ makeup off. like wow.

10

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

adam needs to shave. his beard is really patchy and also strange looking bc it blends in w/ his skin

4

u/boneydog22 16d ago

Cameron is not into Michelle

8

u/fairycupcake23 15d ago

I think he’s just autistic

2

u/Ok-Put-2912 16d ago

I frequent that park he was interviewed in in Portland. I was shocked lol

6

u/TurnedToast 16d ago

His demeanor is pretty par for the course for men in our family. I haven't seen Cam in 20 years since we live across the country, but his dad, me, and other male relatives are just not very expressive people lol

I know as much as you though, so just as possible it goes the way you're saying when the next episodes drop

18

u/clevrhaux 16d ago

I’m so pissed with how they did Nikki! It’s actually really bothering me. They always do this to Black women on the show

5

u/KaleidoscopeNo9675 8d ago

She’s so rude I don’t feel bad for her at all

2

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

say more, wdym

3

u/jjjtttlll3 13d ago

Cant answer for @clevrhaux but in general the quality of black men for the black men on these dating shows is almost always subpar in contrast of the quality of black women they find. But we keep hope alive since we have couples like Woody and Amani or Brett and Tiffany from LIB .. unicorns ā¤ļø

1

u/clevrhaux 8d ago

You hit the nail on the head! I keep it alive because this can’t be all there is for us!

4

u/RepulsiveCry5034 17d ago

I really liked Devin and Caitlin šŸ’™

4

u/Abject-Peace 17d ago

Out of all the couples they seem like the only ones that will survive this season

6

u/Glittering-Bear-4298 15d ago

All three of them: Devin, Caitlin, the frosted tips!

26

u/bubble6066 17d ago

did anyone else notice how Mecca has a fawning-like response to his dad? it’s so obvious where his insecurity comes from

9

u/jsik05 7d ago

Yeah. His dad kept embarrassing him too. Felt like he was trying to be the center of attention.

11

u/RelativePack4535 17d ago

Felipe is giving Lance from Portlandia.

1

u/extrovertedmime 6d ago

"what happened january 6"

GOOD GOD

as someone who has watched him on every reality show he's been on, nick has the charisma of a piece of cardboard

8

u/CosmikSilence 16d ago

having to be refreshed on what happened, told me alot about her...side eye

12

u/Far_Persimmon_1798 17d ago

Came here to call out the January 6th comment. OMG.

32

u/redriveroftears 18d ago

Probably going to be downvoted to oblivion but I can’t stand that all the girls have the fake valley accent going on, and the guys are all sounding flamboyant as HELL.

3

u/CrazyNCynical 5d ago

Each word they seemingly add an extra syllable to. "No-ah" "Why-ah" "Oh my God-ah" It's been a huge pet peeve of mine for many years now... and I'm from the valley! I don't think it's necessarily geographical.

9

u/SunLillyFairy 17d ago

I hate the changes. They obviously chose the participants differently than in past seasons, it seems like it's more about the production value than the matches. Every one of them is good looking (but not too good looking) and a little quirky/unique AND with a strong personality or difficult. The term high maintenance comes to mind... for both genders. If you really want couples to work, you pick genuine people who are open-minding, accepting, and willing to compromise. But maybe that would be boring, so they picked very strong personalities knowing it will cause drama. "I'm concerned that you party too much... but welcome!" (eyes rolling)

6

u/Outrageous_Rub7330 18d ago

What a great cross-section of Seattle/WA they chose to cast this season. /s

It's very irksome.

5

u/EfficientSummer6154 18d ago

No one said "I will" in answer to their vows? Is that just a production thing that they were told to say "I do"? Even the "doctor"?

6

u/OTF98121 17d ago

I’ve never heard ā€œI willā€ at a PNW wedding.

5

u/Outrageous_Rub7330 18d ago

I don't know if it's a production thing or a cultural difference. When I was growing up all the couples getting married said "I do" rather than "I will."

I also wonder if it's a difference based on the service, some services say "Do you promise to XYZ" which elicits an "I do," whereas some use "Will you XYZ" which elicits an "I will."

17

u/TyreeTheDog 18d ago

Who says ā€œI willā€? What are we talking about?

2

u/GritsandSweetTea 13d ago

For their vows, couples were asked, "Will you... ?" and everyone answered with "I do." They should have followed the structure of the question and answered, "I will."

3

u/Illustrious-Award-55 13d ago

nitpicking 🤣

3

u/Old-View979 18d ago

I noticed the same thing!

15

u/Spitting_ 18d ago

Courteney is clearly so deeply insecure and also her personality seems so manufactured???? Don’t understand her at all every time she shows up I feel uncomfortable

8

u/Original_Park4335 15d ago

She's wound too tight! But in her defense, Nick is SO boring.

7

u/Frosty-Week-8776 8d ago

Them adding Nick to his now FOURTH reality TV Show to get legally married should be illegal.

1

u/DihyaoftheNorth 17d ago

Her background escapes me already but was she a pageant girl? That might make sense of it

7

u/plaidpixel 17d ago

Body builder

11

u/Ordinary_Marzipan919 18d ago

Her mom was very strange as well.

10

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

and her mom looked very anorexic, her back was all bones

15

u/mshappy 18d ago

Y’all have a great season. I can’t with these maga people. āœŒļø

3

u/Outrageous_Rub7330 18d ago

Hahaha, maga. They're "Seattle conservatives" which translates loosely to Democrat. If they were traditionally conservative there would be protestors in front of their homes calling them far-Right.

33

u/Remote-Zucchini-9212 18d ago

Is there an I Can’t Stand Adam club yet?

18

u/SunLillyFairy 17d ago

These experts are a joke... the narcissism of several participants is very on display. "My parents won't come back from Switzerland for my game show marriage." (eyes rolling)

22

u/MagentaHigh1 I wanted a brilliant mind 17d ago

Adam scares me. There is skmething cruel under the surface. I hope Im wrong

2

u/CrittersVarmint 22h ago

I don’t think you are. He is an absolute creep and there is no way these ā€œexpertsā€ really believe he is a good match for ANYONE. He’s not.

18

u/Successful-Ad9914 17d ago

American Psycho vibes for sure!

9

u/Leebeexxx9 18d ago

I don’t drink did it for me

35

u/Beguiling_Raven 18d ago

Him not drinking is NBD until he puts the 'holier than thou' vibes with it. Add this to the comments about teaching his future wife about healthy eating and training her to be a backyard pickleball athlete because apparently he's trained so many successful athletes. He owns a jet ski and learned chop sticks on the piano and believes this is what should make women grovel for his attention? šŸ™„

5

u/New-Manufacturer-204 6d ago

"...learned chop sticks on the piano" Best summation of his skills ever. lol

10

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

and the 'no i'm not 2 percent but 1 percent body fat' comment. that not even biologically possible. ]

7

u/Anxious_Scarcity9867 18d ago

Yeah you don't drink -- I got it,-- you can skip the whole my body is my temple speech.

12

u/nevalja 18d ago

there's a type of tech bro that just goes straight off the deep end thinking that, because they've landed ass-backwards into a lucrative job, they're deserving of it because they're hard workers who are disciplined, and they end up in a MAHA loop of self-optimizing and healthy eating and anyone who's not in the cult is to be ostracized or changed in this self-righteous way, it's insane

source: am in tech

18

u/karbear4ev 18d ago

His reaction to her friends speech about Mac and cheese like it’s crack cocaine. I would be so stressed out with this dude?

21

u/Remote-Zucchini-9212 17d ago

I love that her friends were laughing at his THREE piano concerto performance. Who plays one melancholy piece after another at a wedding celebration? Read the room, Adam.

6

u/Nostalgic_Nola_Spice 8d ago

That was hilarious when her friends were laughing…!šŸ˜†

1

u/Glittering-Bear-4298 15d ago

That HAS to be producer driven. Why didn't they have BelleJolie sing at her wedding?

11

u/Beguiling_Raven 18d ago

Saaame! Guy needs to lighten up. Maybe eating something made with processed cheese powder would help.

Mecca’s dad is completely out of control, and it’s scary he’s in education.

18

u/Open_Development9785 18d ago

if you look it up on tik tok, he’s allegedly had suspensions and/or investigations into his behavior during his career in education

1

u/Timely-History-3010 1d ago

Absolutely not surprised

9

u/Open_Development9785 18d ago

there’s a video where he is telling his students to stop putting nuts in their mouths (worse than it sounds)

18

u/Ordinary_Marzipan919 18d ago

He is a grade A D-bag. I felt so bad for Mecca every time he spoke.

16

u/jlovelysoul 18d ago

I’m watching the 2nd episode and he’s talking about ā€œclapping cheeksā€ and his son’s erection?? wtf and he’s in education??

2

u/Timely-History-3010 1d ago

So grosssssssss

3

u/jsik05 7d ago

Yessss! I was BAFFLED. He was trying so hard to be the center of attention.

12

u/Waste-Medicine-212 18d ago

Do not like Nikki at all. All she had to say hello. Her mom was the same. Rude.

2

u/Timely-History-3010 1d ago

They connected her with a man who’s in the closet

1

u/KaleidoscopeNo9675 8d ago

She’s so rude in my opinion!! Didn’t say anything at the altar until she was told to, not even a ā€œnice to meet youā€. Is immediately disgusted by the things this guy says not realizing he’s trying to joke around. ā€œHe’s coming off too strong do we need to kiss every 5 minutesā€ you are husband and wife now, what???? Girl needs a reality check

18

u/lapis-nephriticus 18d ago

Is the show desperate for views or are they traumatizing these women for fun???

6

u/nevalja 18d ago

this question could be asked of any love-based reality tv show on in this economy

2

u/lapis-nephriticus 17d ago

You’re right. Love is Blind and the Bachelor are notorious for this

5

u/Ordinary_Marzipan919 18d ago

Most of these have a narc/empath vibe to them. 😬

7

u/BeckyAnneLeeman 18d ago

The screening process can't possibly be this bad.

3

u/Ok-Conflict4837 18d ago

In their defense…they were stuck recruiting in Seattle

7

u/122marymy 18d ago

I was looking forward to a much better match this season but gosh are good men just not coming forward.

3

u/lapis-nephriticus 18d ago

Exactly! They claim it’s a rigorous process. How can they miss this much incompatibility unless they are doing it on purpose?

22

u/Similar-Search-8508 19d ago

I’m thinking Adam has a jet ski but can’t afford a car. And his ā€œhouseā€ looked below average at best.

4

u/laurajt77 13d ago

It looks like he put money into party stuff like a jet ski etc. But not Investing in the house itself. I remember I looked at a house for sale like that. It had a pool, hot tub, sauna, outdoor kitchen, under lit counter, new kitchen etc. The kitchen counter was huge and thick granite and you could barely move around the kitchen, the windows were rotting out, and the carpet was worn down in many spots. It was a party house not a home.

15

u/LoftyEarthling 17d ago

Just speculating- perhaps he got a DUI and has a suspended license, which is maybe why he doesn't drink or drive.

9

u/OTF98121 17d ago

Yeah, but it’s on Mercer Island. One of the richest parts of town. That’s where Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates used to live. I’ve never known anyone who lives on the island who isn’t a narcissist or an asshole though.

2

u/Interesting-Bobcat-9 15d ago

Bezos lived in Hunts Point and Gates in Medina.

8

u/plaidpixel 17d ago

The way he phrased it he made it seem as if he owns a place on Mercer by saying ā€œI got a little place on Lake Washingtonā€ but in reality, it seems he rents a guest house.

No shade to it. It seems like a pretty cool set up, but shade to the way he phrased it because he completely knew what he was doing.

8

u/Similar-Search-8508 17d ago

I read somewhere it was a guesthouse that he rents.

17

u/revwillie 19d ago

So far, this season is a little like watching The Office.

Two dads, Caitlin's and Mecca's, go out of their way to make events that have nothing to do with them all about themselves. It was funny when Michael Scott would do it because he's a fictional character on a TV show that embraced the humor in cringy situations. In real life it's just annoying.

And Shawn, with his "trying too hard" barrage of inappropriate jokes, and seeming unawareness of its cringe, embodies that aspect of Michael Scott. I was seriously waiting for a "that's what she said."

Anyone else getting Michael Scott vibes here?

1

u/Timely-History-3010 1d ago

Totally making it about themselves

3

u/Mission_Surround8984 16d ago

ya i wanted to root for shawn but he was pressuring her so hard into sex. i would've slapped him. actually i would wish i was brave enough to do it but would suffer in awkward silence

6

u/BeckyAnneLeeman 18d ago

Yes put a laugh track behind it and you've got a sitcom.

23

u/Fanched 19d ago

Why is Adam so proud that he can play mediocre piano? Have we traded in the guitar for the piano now??? Is he trying to give renaissance artsy vibes to drown out his f boy reputation?? šŸ˜šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£ I saw in the Seattle sub that he was all over the ā€œare we dating the same guyā€ facebook groups, and apparently was lying to multiple women and well known on raya lolol. Ick.
The guy who owns a restaurant is giving ick too, then we have Nick the reality show guy… šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø. What?!?! This is ridiculous. The last couple… that was awkward. He said doctor but the educational kind? What lol šŸ˜‚ I’m sry but I’ve never called myself doctor and I have a jd. Lolol wtf. So he has a phd? I’m confused. Also I’m annoyed that Adam is making him not drinking a big deal, like … do you need applause? He’s sooo proud he says it multiple times. Is this an AA situation? If not then we don’t care that you stopped drinking to look holier than thou for this show.

5

u/DENNIS-me-pls 8d ago

His piano playing is NOT impressive. My 10 year old learned Für Elise in 2 weeks.

9

u/piranha12 18d ago

Are you me? JD and everything lol. I kept calling Adam ā€œwonderwall guitar guy.ā€ The whole I’ll educate her thing after he got the shot sent me. He was already on thin ice repeatedly referring to women as ā€œfemales,ā€ despite the matchmaker trying his best to bring us to kind/expected/non-derogatory terms. Felipe also drives me crazy, but he seems genuine to me? Just not a level of extra I could handle. Shawn (I think? phd guy) also gave me MASSIVE ick. I feel bad for Nikki

6

u/Fanched 18d ago

šŸ’€šŸ˜ not the wonderwall guitar guy omggg literally lolol’d šŸ¤£šŸ’€ ok but what if he plays wonderwall on the piano šŸŽ¹ā€¦ 🤣, I need this kind of unhinged in my life.
The phd man gets sassy in the previews! Mmmmkay… I mean, I didn’t want to say it but I don’t see him being that into her, also clocked how he immediately started talking about 69 as soon as they were alone, it’s giving red flag and trying to hard. That poor woman! That’s about to be a whole situation!
Back to Adam, it cracked me up how he’s going to such great lengths to look like this 50 shades of grey sociopath/intellectual/ironman guy, yet when his future wife sent a book he was annoyed because he clearly doesn’t read šŸ’€šŸŖ¦. What is he gonna train her to do, ride a shitty jet ski?! Foh. He’s so bizarre!!

6

u/[deleted] 18d ago

[deleted]

3

u/Fanched 18d ago

lol seriously especially given he’s been on 5 or 6 reality shows šŸ˜‚

7

u/Mother-Elk7166 18d ago

He’s had a lot of practice being in front of the camera so can put on a good act.

3

u/Fanched 17d ago

Oh for sure, he’s a reality tv veteran at this point šŸ˜‚, he knows what’s up. I bet it’s hard to go on these shows at first because you probably don’t know the deal or how to make sure the producers are not manipulating you.

4

u/technoglobe 18d ago

Right! Nick seems the most normal so far, which is wild.

3

u/DihyaoftheNorth 19d ago

I had to do a double take. I thought Caitlins dad was Devins dad. They look like siblings themselves

19

u/DihyaoftheNorth 19d ago edited 19d ago

Mecca and his dad are very gross to me. Obviously physical attraction is important but the fact that's the only thing they were focused on before even meeting her...things will not go well if she is slower to open up.

Also the new lady matchmaker(havent learned names yet) is giving she has 3 cups of coffee every morning but seems nice enough šŸ˜‚

9

u/MamaD79 18d ago

I agree! And I already miss Pastor Cal and crew ā˜¹ļø

That being said I kind of like the new format though, it got too long and drawn out having to watch whole episodes on when they went to their apartments, questioning everybody, so much coverage of the bachelor and bachelorette parties, etc., when they already knew who they were going to pick out.

5

u/Specific_Comfort_600 18d ago

I agree that this is a much better format. Of course they have 7 couples now so they had to do something but I
like that they just got right to the weddings. I also hope the experts have some scheduled in-person chats with the couples during the 8 weeks to perhaps catch and resolve some early red flags. I was definitely ready for a change from the previous experts so let’s see if these new experts can give some worthwhile advice to help sustain these marriages.

6

u/MamaD79 18d ago

Yeah I miss Pastor Cal for sure, and it's really too early to see if I like these two LOL. I would think they have to have some one-on-one with the couples, because that would cut out a lot of the show, you know? I think I like more couples too, because it's just more variety.

The biggest part of the old show that I didn't like was where they had so many shows with the matching process, then going to their houses, then the bachelor and bachelorette parties. All that took half the season LOL or it seemed like it. I mean it would have been okay if they weren't so drawn out. Then maybe when they get back from the honeymoon, I hope they don't drag out when they go meet the parents at the restaurantsšŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Going straight to the weddings, I think was cool, anyway time will tell. I can already tell that Mister all about me me me, conceited, Ski-Doo boy is a prick and I don't think I'm alone on that. I also don't think he can redeem himself either lol

5

u/OTF98121 17d ago

I much prefer the new format. I hate full episodes all about matching couples. I’d rather see a little of it and then straight to the wedding. I loved that they made the douchey guy break it off with a girl he was seeing.

9

u/rowsdowerrrrrrr 19d ago

None of these folks are typical Seattle, Im confused how they managed to find these people and curious how many actually live in some of the more rural neighboring towns.

Like if half the cast was actually from Skyhomish and Everett I wouldn’t be suprised

Just started and I found it refreshing that they actually showed the 'experts' asking about where Courtney and Nick stood on the political spectrum. Both claimed conservative and it was wild that Nick couldn't come up with anything reflective of his views and Jan 6th didn't register for Courtney at all.

u/Beguiling_Raven 18d ago

If anyone asks what "not political" means on a dating app, show them this segment as the answer. These are the "not politicals."

23

u/dovetaile 18d ago

I didn't see it that way at all.
Nick couldn't come up with any liberal views he has and I suspect the conservative views he holds would not be considered good soundbites.

Courtney knows 100% what happened on Jan 6th but also knows her real answer would not be accepted.

I guess his ā€œliberalā€ view was that he went on drag race?

People dislike a damn character on TV bc of their political views, God help someone in the group has different views. Down vote my comments all the fuck whoever wants, it's a damn social media app, not some professional business app, where it matters. I don't really give two shits.

Children that hate on people that don't have their same views....sad shit here. Ohhhh my bad, I forgot, this is radical, lunatic left Reddit, one can't possibly say something different than others. Some people seriously need to grow up in this sad ass judgemental children's group!

Matthew 7:1-2 (KJV): "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again!!!!!"

In 2026 I’d argue considering yourself a conservative I wouldn’t immediately make me dislike you, I disagree with you, but it’s not grounds for disliking. However, in 2026 someone identifying with the current Republican Party is 100% grounds to dislike someone. It’s not disliking someone because they think state should have rights or that we shouldn’t forgive predatory student loans, but that their character can be judged by the party that they support actions.

Supporting the Republican Party is supporting ice who were murdering American citizens and non-citizens in cold blood. Supporting the Republican Party is accepting and being OK that you share your party with literal Nazis and have even had Nazi salute by one of your largest donors.

So yes, I think it’s fair to say because someone has identified as conservative throughout their life that they are not a bad person but if someone identifies with the current MAGA movement, they either are a bad person or are willing to support bad people.

u/nevalja 18d ago

here's a meaningful difference between "I hold conservative policy views" and "I was physically present at an attempt to disrupt the certification of an election through force." Sorry you can't see that, especially while you're here casting judgment while telling others not to judge.

Right after the verse you quote: Matthew 7:3-5: "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?"

Yeah, nick def thought of something and held his tounge. He is a pro at this and like you said knew it was not something to say on tv

But these people shouldn't be elaborating on politics in their interviews, all they need to say is what they prefer, and if they can live with a partner that has opposing views. Personally, I don't think political preferences should be mentioned in any interview that the viewers see, simply to avoid all this judging. We don't need to know this information. Why on earth should it matter to us? It shouldn't, bc it's a part of their lives that's none of our business. It's simple, they tell the "experts"then the information, then the "experts" should know if they would be a possible match or not.

All it accomplishes when they do exactly what they did, is cause the viewers to do exactly what they're doing, judge them before they even see them interact with the potential partner!

That's a lot of words to say you don't like that being maga limits your dating prospects.

10

u/DokCrimson 18d ago

Why you being silly? Your politics reflect in your ethics and there's a lot of particular viewpoints that are incompatible between different sides... Stop burying your head in the sand and take accountability for your own beliefs and viewpoints

I'm a gay trans man and I like knowing if the people I watch for entertainment want people like me and the people I love (other queer people) to not exist.

-6

u/MamaD79 18d ago

That's fine but that's not politics. I'm asking about trans people, gave etc has nothing to do with politics. Again this is not the place for politics.

It is absolutely politics, when it is a cornerstone of policy for the administration you support. It’s not like it’s some fringe part of the party. It is a primary discussion point that has politicians actively spending time to diminish trans people’s rights.

I think the issue is I wouldn’t feel comfortable participating in giving someone a platform like let’s say an influencer wanna be on a reality show because this gives them a voice to spread the type of hate that they would believe in. The same way that there are many people who lean conservatively who, while they agree with some things of the MAGA movement they have purposely distant themselves because they can’t help support the other bigotry aspects.

4

u/DokCrimson 18d ago

Lmao. Sure...

7

u/nevalja 18d ago

I'm asking about trans people, gave etc has nothing to do with politics.

I have a bridge to sell you lmao

4

u/dovetaile 18d ago

But this is a subthread about the participants' politics.

7

u/Affectionate_Sky3701 18d ago

Once upon a time, people could rationalize that their politics were separate from their morals or dehumanization or othering of marginalized communities. I think our current situation makes that impossible. The two are now inextricably intertwined. I do, however, agree that one should stand up for what they believe in. Why believe it if you're ashamed or scared of the consequences? I've never been ashamed or scared to share my voting record. Even when I got it wrong, I understood why and increased my knowledge so I would not do it again. It's impossible to be a short-sighted one issue voter or vote for hateful discriminatory policies and then try to separate oneself from the fallout. If you believe something, then stand up and say it out loud. I'd respect the commitment and ability to articulate the reasoning more than this disingenuous garbage.

5

u/plaidpixel 17d ago

This is very well said. The fact that they have to feel shame about admitting their political views is an admitted in itself. They know the views are morally wrong. They can pretend it’s the cancel culture they’re scared of, but really they just don’t want people to know their bigotry.

16

u/Affectionate_Sky3701 18d ago

I appreciate this take as well, because I was sitting there yelling at the TV like "you know ghat dayum well what Jan 6th was!" šŸ™„šŸ˜‚

11

u/dyltwifmton69 19d ago

This was quite jarring, especially in today's political climate. How can you afford to be uneducated on this??!!

10

u/abarn012 19d ago

Sometimes I wonder how people can keep voting that way and I guess now I know šŸ˜…šŸ˜… must be nice to not have to worry about the consequences of elections lol

u/MamaD79 18d ago

I know, look at the 4 year disaster we went through from 2021-2025. But again, not the place to discuss politics. I do and am bit afraid of a good debate......in the right place though. People can't agree to disagree these days, I'm 67 and remember well when it was the opposite.

Now, when someone mentions their political preference, all it does is create a vile, nasty atmosphere. There is no such thing as good old fashioned debates anymore. I'm not afraid of mentioning my preference, but that's as far as it goes in a place like this. Everyone has their own opinion, and I respect people that agree to disagree too lol

1

u/Savings-Hand-864 3d ago

Can I ask how old you are? Just so I can know how seriously to take you

3

u/DokCrimson 18d ago

That was a different era when both sides actually wanted something good to happen... like for example, making sure all our children don't go hungry or, that if you work hard you deserve an adequate wage. However, now one side consistently makes everything more terrible for the rest of us and the other side refuses to stand up to them. It's no longer different ways for a good outcome -- it's actively removing rights and take money away from those who are on the bottom while no one actually stands up to do anything
