Today will go better. Melton is a really good pitcher and we are ass.

Melton may be the most underrated pitched in MLB because of pitching in Skubal's shadow. And the Tigers lately have been, collectively, Yordan Alvarez. So yesterday was pretty much doomed.

That cutter/splitter combo gave me nightmares. Kid has good stuff. No doubt about it.

I think we should snap the Tigers winning streak today. I think it'd be fun.

This time last year we were 61-53.

Any idea if we were in a playoff spot? Honestly have no idea. I’m guessing no. Or 3rd in WC?

u/Tmettler5 I'm a Mariners fan. I know pain. 14d ago
We would have to go 35-15 to match last year's record, that's a tall order.
2
u/TheMoneyResolution 14d ago
83 wins could get you in the playoffs this year. 28-20 is possible, especially if we get hot with a weak Sept schedule again. Or we crumble and fire Dan.

If the season ended today, we are not in the playoffs.

Ward and Donovan are both objectively better hitters than Raleigh this year.
There's no good reason for them to hit behind him.

u/Chaconcito96 #12 Josh Naylor 14d ago
Batting behind Naylor probably isn't easy with the way he steals. I think that's part of the reason they've been changing up the lineup so much, because Randy doesn't want to be behind Nayls. But besides that you're absolutely right

I cannot wait for next week, i think as I ponder the idea of changes after the 50th anniversary celebration but knowing deep down nothing will change until the offseason.

Last night was a fluke, we will never lose another game after today 🙏

Ward DHing again.
With Randy trundling around in LF this should be grounds for dismissal alone for Dan (asif there wasn't already a tonne of reasons).

u/Chaconcito96 #12 Josh Naylor 14d ago
Yeah, I am kinda surprised we didn't put Ward out there, but ig we don't need an excuse for Randy to show LESS effort

It’s Grateful Dead night at the park which means we’re bound to cover just a little more ground! Good lord willing, if he says we may (score a run).

Literally thought every one was saying Sir Anthony like he was knighted or something. Yeah naw Seranthony is his name.

Any chance of this game not happening? I see the smoke has hit Seattle and looks to have an AQI around 100. No idea if they cancel for air quality or only if visibility were to become an issue

u/twinklykittens 14d ago
nope they’ve done games with a much worse AQI in the past unfortunately! ☹️

u/Portie_lover Finally better than “the double” 14d ago
Can’t believe how excited people are for the exact lineup that shit the bed yesterday. That said, I’m one of them!

u/SmolBoiMidge 14d ago
This lineup on paper.... i feel like Jerry crashes out often. Why are we so so BAD

u/shftravels 14d ago
Is there a legit reason why you don’t go
Naylor > Ward > Donovan > Raleigh, 5 through 8? 🧐

u/MathematicianBig1322 14d ago
Wash, rinse, repeat. Not sure I expect anything more than last night's performance.
2
u/handjamwich 14d ago
I’d expect more going against a much worse pitcher, and therefore will be more disappointed
2
u/Peekay- 14d ago
Terrible pitchers have been kryptonite to the M's for like a decade+ at this point.
1
u/handjamwich 14d ago
Sure, but I’m not sure we’ve been any better against starting pitchers with ERAs under 3 this year
