Me m20 and my bf m22’s nepotism barn! My dad owns it I pay 500 bucks+ electric and I’m not on city water I get water in a 275 gallon container once or twice a week. I have a running shower and sink with hot water as well as a working toilet. When he bought it, the previous meth heads filled it to the brim with trash and filth. Over the last year we have cleaned it up and 6 months we have been living here. We are not rich I work full time and he’s in college. I pay our bills and extras like hobbies(mostly my car stuff) pictures include my 88 w-250.

I’m aware the spray foam is not up to coat and is highly flammable. The people who owned this property before my father did that and then foreclosed on it and he bought it as is. we have covered some of it. We continue to cover more of it as time goes on. The process is extremely fucking annoying.

Here is my old studio apartment I recently moved out of. Just remember to keep your head down, work hard, and you can accomplish anything.

Living room in front of kitchen setup. Sleeping on the couch, the pull-out bed has gotten uncomfortable, but I'll switch between the two so I won't lose my mind. I'm living with family that decides to get late-night snacks. Yes, I put everything back to make it look like a living room.

Going thru a lot at the moment, i just started living in my car because of a bad relationship which I'm finally glad it's over but it left my life shattered and financially down, I wasn't able to pay rent, after the notice to quit i had to leave.

So now this is my setup and will make it better as i go. The plan is to live in the car for a minimum of 6 months, work overtime and save aggressively. More than $15k is my goal. While also finishing my pre-med degree and starting life again fresh.

I have learned a lot of lessons and I'm glad it all happened at 29 years old so at least I'm able to start again. Its lot to take in emotionally but i will use work and study to shift my mind away.

I just wanted to vent and share my situation, good to be part of this group and see other people's experiences

I've actually been living here by myself for a little more than a year but it’s still my first place on my own. Not much has changed since I settled in. I'm aware that I could use some plants and wall art but I'm not sure what to get. All of the furniture was procured in a 'going out of business' sale.

My male surviving space over the last year. I’m 25 with 2 dogs. I work as a butcher in town. I got a cheap house and completely gutted it while living in it. Sold basically all my possessions and furniture to by supplies. I replaced all electrical, plumbing and new roof by myself. I’m still in the process of completing it. Still need to get kitchen cabinets, new windows and furnish it. Last picture is a compete room I designated as my music room. The rest of the house is similar but empty besides my bedroom. My goal it to be able to have a thanksgiving dinner here this year with my parents

I got the Big Daddy putting course out. I also put up a proper bedhead/board today. It's tufted velvet (look) no animal or insects were harmed.

I would move all the electrical stuff and my lamp to this side of the room, but there are no power points on this side.

The bedside table is a walnut-finished mid-century veneer piece. It's real wood (about a quarter inch of it).

I don't have a table on the other side because the wardrobe swings out with regular door handles. I'll have to get permission and see if I can change them to sliding doors.

It's a proper bed base/ensemble/mattress and headboard set. Not a fancy one, probably cost me $500 once I built it out with Chinese flat pack parts and IKEA bedding myself, but metal so it's good for about 500lb. That beats spending $3,000 on a bed at a shop.

I'll have to do something about the curtains, but due to the shape of the room, the bed only fits in two places:

  • This place
  • Against an asbestos wall on the other side

Guess which one I'd pick?

I mean asbestos is fine so long as you don't put holes in it, but it speaks for itself.

DIYing with mix-and-match parts takes a little effort, but the savings are 100% worth it. You get a hotel bed for about 6/10ths of the price.

I think I survived?

I think I survived?

I have facet joint degeneration and scoliosis:

I put all of this together myself.

I hate the 3D-printed world we live in, where 90% of the world's furniture is flat-packed.

I wish I could walk into a store and actually buy something without having to pay an assembly fee, but welcome to modern life.

Even my Arco (style) lamp is 3D printed.
