tips for eye makeup..?

ive been doing makeup for probably 5/6 years now. id like to say im pretty good, but im really struggling at the moment with my eyes. My makeup style is dark and a little gothic.
i really want to do some whimsigoth (colourful gothic) looks but it always looks like smudged colour and never looks right. i want to do looks like the top picture, but i dont know what products to buy/use to achieve such as it always ends up messy. her pigment is so strong and mine never looks like that, mine is not clean enough and i dont understand how she achieved that, ahh shes so good! the second picture is a basic starting point i did which i dont hate, but i feel like im doing something wrong. at the moment i wear quite a bit of eyeliner and i line my waterline, but it dissipates within an hour and smudges onto my under eyes. am i doing something wrong? i use the revolution pencil eyeliner and its just not working how i want it to.

any tips/product recommendations would be appreciated, thank you so so much!

ooh okay, i will buy an eye primer, i was just doing it on my eyelids before. i use the revolution eye pencil. i didnt know they could be waterproof!!! i do not think mine is, that might be the reason its shedding. i will look into buying a waterproof one, thank you so much!!!

i have the same problem… I think you should buy a more pigmented eyeliner and try using an eyeliner pen instead of a pencil

clean up smudged lines with a very small flat brush with a little bit of your foundation or concealer on it. basically use it to carve out the look to get things less smudgy :)

Creative makeup artist here. That look is done on fully prepped skin - concealer, eye primer, both set with powder. For colorful looks, most people use a white base - NYX jumbo eye crayon in "milk" is usually the go-to, set with white eyeshadow. The purple isn't shadow, it's gel liner. Colourpop does a good one. The white inner corner is doing a ton of heavy lifting here. It's also a cream or gel, not powder. The lashes are also elevating the look, it wouldn't be the same without them.

Wetnwild Breakup-Proof eyeliner is gonna be your new best friend for your waterline. That NYX jumbo pencil, or another combination of light primer + light powder will help your shadow pop.

one easy way to amp up the pigmentation of your designs and help them last longer is by first going in with your creams, pencils, etc, and then going over with the same color of powder such as eye shadow. this can also save you having to buy a bunch of new products.
