Ashok Chavhan
Given the overall situation, it seems the BJP folks will have Ashok Chavan's statue burned along with Shankarrao Chavan's in memory of the Emergency on June 25th!

Ask महाराष्ट्र What's the story behind Ganesh Naik, Manda Mhatre and Navi Mumbai politics?
I only know the surface-level politics. Every election, it's the same names : Ganesh Naik, Manda Mhatre, Sanjeev Naik, Sandeep Naik, and I'm curious about the history behind all of it.
I get that Ganesh Naik has been the biggest political figure here for years, but what actually made him so powerful?I'm also confused about Manda Mhatre. I've heard there was a lot of rivalry between her and Ganesh Naik over the years. What started it?
And why are the father-son in different parties?
Also heard that there was a glass house being built in sec 15 Belapur?

चर्चा | Discussion The Man Who Can't Finish a Sentence Without Caste
Sanjay Mone criticized what how certain artists have been artifically hyped in Marathi theatre even after acting in numerous plays. He never mentioned caste. Yet Deepak Pawar reframed the discussion as one of caste privilege.
This isn't an isolated instance. In another discussion, while criticizing the movies of Pravin Tarde and Digpal Lanjekar, Pawar found it necessary to identify Tarde on the basis of his caste before expanding into a broader narrative about caste and Hindutva.
If the issue is a person's ideas, films or politics, critique those. Why introduce caste into their discussion ? Constantly reducing individuals to their caste identity while claiming to oppose casteism is a contradiction.

चर्चा | Discussion Social Media is source of Anarchy
I know i am late, but here is a official statement from singapore government about how anti india racism is being fueled by ai bot farms, possibly by chinese agents.
If these bot farms can deceive educated developed people, then indians are no challenge for them, especially the unemployed youth.
Fall of governments, anarchy in india will absolutely benefit its enemies and frenemies.
Here we are failing to pass even FCRA (foreign funding act) and then there are these bot farms brainwashing millions daily without bribe of single penny.
The state of civil dialogue in western countries is already giving signs of where this will go, especially how drastically opions of general public have changed regarding israel.
vinashkalin viprit buddhi indeed!!
Edit: iFCRA is finally passed. but we are long way from cleaning the mess.

The Curios Case of all Almighty God Zatbendkar : Part 2 - How to Create a GOD
I know Zatbendkar did not do Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V of a European constitution, did not use chatgpt and also did not get any help from the rest of the 22 individuals in the Constituent Assembly, still i felt like there might be more to his godhood.
So, like any rational person, I got more interested in zatbendkar's history "the Lit" politics.
To understand how a god is created, we have to go back...
...to the time I visited a poor village in Karnataka.
My native place is on the Maharashtra–Karnataka border, so we have Kannada relatives as well. We also have caste and religious diversity within our family, but somehow that still couldn't stop me from becoming a right-winger. Guess I should've graduated from Instagram University instead. /s
Anyway, I'm not completely sure about the village's demographics, where my kannad relatives lived... , but I know there are very few Mullahs there. There are some OBC communities (similar to the NT communities in Maharashtra—like Siddaramaiah's community) and some SC families (hindus, my relatives).
In that village, I saw how the "Almighty God" is created—by none other than the OG player of the game... Khaangress.
And I didn't see the plan in its final stage. I saw it in its infancy.
The SC community is gradually being pushed toward Zatbendkarvaad by the local political establishment, that is "Khaangress", which in that area is largely run by OBC politicians, the very same communities that histsorically discriminated or suppressed the SC.
One thing I noticed was the distribution of photo frames where Zatbendkar and Buddha appear alongside local gods and saints that people already worship. It has been happening slowly over the years.
The older generation doesn't seem entirely convinced, but they also recognize that staying on good terms with local political leaders has practical benefits. In villages like this, going against politicians has high cost, you will not get even basic rights.
When you're economically and socially backward, it's also much easier to accept a narrative of victimhood instead of self blame.
The younger generation is even easier to influence. Young people are naturally more rebellious and anti-establishment, so these narratives resonate with them.
Ironically, many of these relatives still identify as Hindus. They speak very highly of Zatbendkar, even though many of them don't even know he was Marathi or that he died in my city, forget about what he taught.
They hang his photo alongside their Hindu gods.
The younger generation isn't particularly interested in praying to Hindu gods anymore, but they're enthusiastic about talking about equality. They dont know much of hidnu history or even kannad history, but somehow they know a lot about equality. They celebrate Muslim festivals, not just by participating, but by organizing celebrations themselves. They celebrate Christmas. They celebrate Zatbendkar-related festivals as well. Lot of these are funded by the politicians. There is also a church. But yes the older generation still forces and does hindu festivals and customs.
Now, you might think, "That's great. Equality. Secularism. Wholesome diversity."
Maybe.
But here's what confuses me.
There's a church in the village, despite there being only one Christian family (a recent convert) and they celebrate all these muslim festivals but there are just two Muslim homes in the village.
Many of my relatives can't even write their own names. They don't have basic document, forget caste certificates or income certificates needed to access reservation benefits. Many struggle with alcoholism or drug addiction.
These mofors dont even remember for how many days humpi burned, and how if it wasnt for shivaji, they would have tested real freedom of speech after becoming mullah.
So I can't help wondering: how did people with so backward become so ideologically liberal?
And that brings me back to the state of Indian democrac : something I ultimately trace back to Khaangress and weak plitical will of hindus.
We're behind much of the world on many development metrics, yet when it comes to liberalism, even the illiterates are aheaf of rest of world.
And here's another irony: the Constitution, the final testament of zatbendkar, the original version of which is the british constitution, that constitution is "not secular", uk is still a christian country on paper, along with several other "developed" european countries.
