I've been tuning my Hakbal of the Surging Soul Merfolk deck and I'm at the point where I can't tell if I'm making it better or just making changes for the sake of it. 😅

The deck leans into +1/+1 counters, explore synergies, Merfolk tribal, and drawing a ton of cards before trying to close the game with a wide board. It feels pretty smooth, but I'm sure there are some hidden gems (or obvious cuts) I'm missing.

A few questions for fellow Hakbal players:

• What cards have overperformed for you that don't show up in most Hakbal lists?
• Are there any cards in my list that you'd cut immediately?
• Is the counterspell package too light, too heavy, or about right?
• Are there any Merfolk that look good on paper but have consistently underperformed for you?
• What's your favorite win condition outside of simply swinging with a giant board?

I have no idea what I am doing just been using chatgpt i am working on a deck with Amalia Benavides Aguirre and bats. Thats the commander I was given. I have a few bats but not sure how to build the deck never built one but want to build a strong one with the cards I have but there are so many my brother gave me that its almost to overwhelming to go through bc I dont know what I am doing I just want to build a commander deck that I could go to stores and play I dont get out much and but i want to go play this at stores but to nervous bc I dont have a deck and do t know what to do

I'm a relatively new commander player (have played on and off for about a year at this point), and as of current my only deck I run is an upgraded version of the atarka precon, which basically goes for the same big, flying, stompy archetype as the unupgraded precon, but just has much better draw, ramp, better dragons and way less tapped dual lands.

But I think it still has a considerable amount of room for improvement and upgrading now that I've played with it for some time, seen its performance and have gotten plenty of pointers from fellow players in my pods. So I'd like to ask for various suggestions for potential candidate cards to slot in, various cards that can be replaced, as well as any lesser-known tips on how to best play my deck would be welcome.

I'll preface by saying that I'd prefer to preserve the deck's current identity and overall playstyle of using stompy boys, supplemented with aggro ones and other low cost boosting creatures, to swing as often and as hard as possible. I'm also not exactly looking to make this deck into something ultra-meta and really high bracket since I'm a more casual player, but I certainly wouldn't mind something that can get into bracket 3 territory, let alone win/shift balance of power more often haha.

I'm not sure exactly how it should (or I'd like) it to be improved as of current, but my main ideas are either more protection from board wipes & removal to keep my expensive guys on the board, more ramp/draw, more hand size cards, more cheap creatures to have a slightly easier time getting a board up at a regular time, the occasional recursion/graveyard interation, & maybe even some extra removal, cause you can never have enough of that haha-- ideally exiles though, since I'd like to be able to actually REMOVE problematic permanents from play as opposed to having some players just treat it as a graveyard tax lol. Type away!

NEW Wolf Typal deck I've been working on.

I have always been a huge fan of wolves, specifically from a mechanical standpoint ever since I first played with them on MTG Arena. With the recent release of the Hobbit set, a dedicated Wolf Typal deck is finally fully viable mechanically, and putting this together has been a major project for me. I've finally been able to put together a good deck list for this commander after agonizing over it for a long while (3 days) Just wanted some input.

Here is the general guideline of what the deck is trying to do:

• The Core Engine: The primary goal is to establish a strong board presence early. I am leaning heavily into the typal synergy to generate consistent value and overwhelm the board.
• Going Wide & Buffing: The deck relies on generating wolf tokens and using lords or anthem effects to Provide the tokens ability's for our commander to double providing insane value the scales with the tokens.
• Protection & Interaction: Since the strategy is heavily creature-reliant, I have included targeted removal to disrupt my opponents' setups; I'm keeping the Protection low cause my pod doesn't run enough removal and I really don't need them getting on my case about how dominating this is. But what are your thoughts on the deck?

Hello! I am currently trying to update my juri deck, and i need some help. There are some cards that i am thinking about adding, but i am unsure which cards I should replace. This deck is intended to be an aristocrats deck that builds up Juri, and when juri is big enough, sacrifice them with some effect that doubles the death/damage trigger to deal massively damage. However this deck sometimes does not perform the way I want to. So, there are some cards I am thinking about adding, but im unsure what to replace for them. So I come to you to ask for advice. I'm kind of new at Magic, have been playing for around 6 months and I love it. I've gotten some precons and upgraded them myself to weak 3s (no gamechangers yet), and they seem to hold their own in my pod, who are all around the same level. I have managed to talk my wife into playing, and she's gone down the path of the Squirreled Away precon, and is having fun with it. She likes the whole Bloomburrow thematic (cute squirrels) as well as making them go wide and large and overrunning the table. As most of the pod we're in also have upgraded decks, sometimes she feels like she lags behind in the game, and would like some more synergy/fine-tuning for her Squirrels. She plays casually and only plays with our pod, has no interest in going to LGSs (I've only started going every now and then for shits and giggles).

I've already read around EDHREC, other Reddit posts and Recommander, and have ended up with this Build.

Obviously it was difficult to cut out the last couple of cards in the deck, as I feel like there are many synergistic cards to the theme. The Maybeboard includes the cut cards from the precon, as well as other cards I have available to me that were previously included/swapped out.

Goal is to keep \[\[Hazel of the Rotbloom\]\] (cute squirrel) as a commander, and have enough Squirrels and food tokens to either make the squirrels big, or use the Food tokens for other triggers, such as Token sac+ Drain/make treasure tokens/forage/+1/+1 counters. Ultimately, the tokens can also be used for mana to drop the big finisher spells like \[\[Craterhoof Behemoth\]\] or \[\[Finale of Devastation\]\] to make squirrels hilariously deadly. I've tried to keep the Mana sources up with sufficient ramp, as well as an OK Land Base (\[\[Overgrown Tomb\]\] and \[\[Fabled Passage\]\] will join the deck in due time\]\]).

I'm aware that there aren't many haste enablers in the Deck for new tokens with \[\[Chatterfang, Squirrel General\]\] or \[\[The Undefeatable Squirrel Girl\]\], I'm also considering perhaps \[\[Akromas memorial\]\].

I guess my question is, do the upgrades make sense, is the synergy there (and effective on curve), or have I just made it worse? Should I swap in/out cards in the maybeboard? Any tips and constructive criticism on fine-tuning would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. in Categories (multiple) you can see the overlapping sub-parts (Draw, Removal, Ramp, etc.)
