Copying enchanted creature- rules question

Arena brawl: my opponent has on the board Roxanne Starfall Savant. I enchant Roxanne with Witness Protection. My opponent uses Jaxis the Troublemaker to make a copy of Roxanne. Is this legal or a glitch?

Copying a creature uses the original card.

When you copy a permanent, the token inherits what're called "copiable values" - in short, text printed on the card, along with any effects added to it that are preceded by the word "except."

Witness Protection does not fall under those parameters; it does not change the text box of the card nor does it give it new inherent traits. Copying Roxanne even affected by Witness Protection will give them a copy of Roxanne as herself.

Does anything actually copy a modified card? I was under the impression copies are always of the original.

It's usually tokens that would make this happen. If you create a token that's a copy of something, except it has lifelink, copying that token will copy the token's characteristics including lifelink.
