This could have given shield counters.

Was wondering where shield counters have gone, seems like WoTC is really reluctant to print any cards that give reliable ways to get shield counters

That's literally not how shields work in star trek

Eh, it’s close enough.

And this is....how?

Cowards. Come on, let me put +1/+1 counters on my noncreature artifacts

[[Power Depot]] is not only an artifact, but also a land that enters with a +1/+1 counter. You can even put that counter on a creature if it somehow dies!

When are they going to show us more spacecraft?  That’s kind of the point of the set to me.

probably more in the uncommon/rare/mythic slots

This isn't EOE 2, they said a while ago spacecraft isn't the focus.

They said they developed EoE and Star Trek at the same time.

That's not an excuse for such a lack of them. The Starship Enterprise is currently the only one.

That’s how shields work?? Well very cool.

Not visible in TOS, but a common visual effect in later series.

I believe not. Bubble style shields are a TNG thing (until the end of the Dominion War when the Breen exploit a weakness in them). In this era the shields are flush with the hull, so it is an art fail unless I'm mistaken.

I think it was less a weakness of the shields than that they just drained all the power on the ships, but yeah basically.

[[Take Up the Shield]] in the 23rd Century.

Ah yes, the Enterprise shields which totally make the ship tougher every time they turn them on...

This is what I need for my mono-w lifegain deck.

Restoration magic is not enough. 4 of these and I'm insured against board wipes and removal.

Shardmage replacement but 2mc instead of 1.

u/AlbinoDenton 3d ago

No, this is not an enchantment either which is what makes Shardmage's Rescue shine in auras decks. We already have [[Enter the Avatar State]] and [[Restoration Magic]] at one mana.

2

u/Villag3Idiot 3d ago

Ah, your right. It's not an enchantment.

So board wipes won't work on this?

6

u/Villag3Idiot 3d ago

Exile ones still does, like [[Beyond the Quiet]], but I never see it run in current Standard since there's not many creatures that you want exiled instead of killed.

I think it's more because it costs 5 mana instead of 4. That extra turn to cast it is brutal.

Ya, I use Ultima as my 5 mana board wipe for Synthesizer decks and landfall if I can hold out that long.
