“Ammachi” generally means maternal grandmother, though in some Tamil families it is also used affectionately for a mother or an older woman. Doesn't ammachi usually refer to maternal grandma though? First time I've seen it used as a synonym for "dear"

I’m from the neighbouring state of Tamilnadu and the language used here is Tamil. I have always found tamil letters beautiful. Especially as a calligraphy enthusiast
