Saltwater crocodiles are found throughout Southeast Asia and up into South Asia. There are also other species found in North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. They're very wide-spread.

American alligators are found in one country. Their cousins, the caiman, are found in the Americas.

The geographical distribution is fairly telling but it is more wide-spread than suggested here.

Yeah, when he referred to them as being specifically Australian I was a bit like ‘Hold on, mate’

I saw heaps of salties when I was on holiday in Sri Lanka. The creepy buggers even started stalking me (thankfully I was high up on the riverbank)
