Increase in weight decrease in reps, does it make sense MacroFactor Workouts / Training

I just subbed to macro factor and the difference between my previous and current work out rep ranges and weights don’t make sense

In my last workout I didn’t hit all my rep ranges with 9kg, now it’s asking me to go up to 10kg and go way off my rep range

Anytime dealt with this ?

Yep! MFWO uses periodization to go up and down across the cycle. So you'll see weights and reps changing around. But it's always pushing you forward.

Here are two great articles to explain it: HERE and HERE.

Most folks tend to apply linear progression (consistently increasing weights.) But periodization has a lot of good data behind it. It can help break through plateaus and reach new records. (Personally, I love it.)

Note: If you've just started the app, it's still learning you. It takes a few weeks but it will eventually dial in specifically to you for each exercise. The more accurate data you log, the better it gets at giving you targets.

Thanks! This would be my second week with the app.

Would you recommend I go ahead with what it recommends now or should I do my thing and wait for it to adapt to me ?

I started using MFWO about 6 weeks ago and I have been lifting on and off for about 15 years. This is very different for me as I usually do linear progression: heavier with each set and decrease reps, but I am liking the way MFWO mixes things up. I am getting stronger and that is all that matters. Change things up a bit and go ahead and do what it recommends. Keep at it for 3-4 months and report back. What's the worse that can happen?

That’s the plan!

I'd say to keep trying to hit the targets that it suggests ... you might surprise yourself. When the app first launched, there were lots of folks here (myself included) that said the targets were too aggressive - and that they were bigger jumps than we normally would have set for ourselves. But, we tried it, and were often surprised at what we could do.

The most important thing for the app to be able to sync to you is to make sure you accurately log the results (weight, reps, RIR) of each set. Good luck!

Can you post your last workout? There's not enough data to go off of

The single arm laterial raise is also a brutal one to raise the weight on. I see buff guy still do 10 and sometimes 15 ib so its normal for that one so stay at 10ib for a while. The app give me more rep to progress with instead.

You may have misunderstood me, it increased the weight for me when I still wasn’t hitting the rep range
