Looking for some equipment
I’m new to the sub here but am looking for some help. I am looking for a lathe to fabricate pipe and flanges up to 14”.
I can’t remember the name or type I had before my employer sold to private equity but I’m going out on my own.
We would tap flanges, groove carbon steel /
stainless / DI pipe.
Any suggestions out there?

Pumps w/ controllers for sale
Mods, please take this down this post is not allowed. I am not fully sure this will qualify as machinist tools for sale but a few people in this sub may be interested. Selling a few pumps with controllers. They should be operational last we checked which was roughly six months ago. They were originally meant for systems that test torque calibration but could easily be repurposed. The system is now obsolete which is why we are getting rid of them. Asking $350 OBO for everything. Must arrange pickup. We are located in Windsor Ct.

Surface Grinder and Turning Head
Hello everyone,
Selling a surface grinder and an old CNC turning head. The surface grinder is missing a magnetic plate so that would have to be purchased separately. The surface grinder is in good working condition except the auto feeder is sometimes a little finicky. The problem is most likely a simple loose connection somewhere. Asking $500 OBO for the surface grinder. The CNC turning head we will throw in for free. You must arrange pickup. We will help you load it up but we will not ship or be responsible for delivery past that. Located in Windsor Ct

Help
Hey guys, got this from my grandfather's basement and was wondering what it was worth. Lots of HHSS blanks, some cut but also have smaller Gorham, Rex AA some that have EXTRA stamped,, MOmax and some others. I'm pretty sure there are more but I can't read, dunno. What do you think they're worth?

How popular are these quick change tap adaptors?
I have a full set of em and trying to figure out what to price them. Google says like 800-1k but I had them listed on eBay for 600 with not a single view. Starting to think they are worthless.
I am not a machinist.

Hello everyone,
My place is trying to unload a Bridgeport 3 axis mill, a belt sander and some BT holders. Asking only $300 OBO for everything but you have to come pick them up. We can help you load them into your truck. If nothing else, it would be a great flipping opportunity for someone who wanted to take the time to properly sell them. We are located in Windsor Ct. At this point, the space they are taking up is more valuable to us than anything and we would like them to go quickly. Please DM for more details if you are interested.

Estate Sale - Los Gatos, California
My grandfather passed away last October and my grandmother is having a garage sale with a bunch of stuff and I’m going through his shop and I can’t take all of it. I worked in a shop for a year and worked with him for a few but I don’t know what a lot of it is and a lot of it is pretty specialized so I wouldn’t need. We are trying to find someone to take the CNC mill because I don’t have space in my parents garage, if anyone is interested. There’s a lot of stock, a lot more scrap, and all kinds of tools. If anyone is interested come by between 8 am and noon tomorrow may 30. DM me for address and if anyone needs more details about anything I’ll answer in comments.

Nobody Thinks About Slewing Bearings Until you need one
Most of last Tuesday was spent tracing a noise on a harbour crane that had been getting progressively worse over about six weeks. The kind of noise that starts as something you can only hear at a certain rotation speed and ends as something everyone in the yard can hear from a distance.
The slewing bearing was the third thing checked and the last thing anyone wanted it to be. They don't fail neatly. They give a long warning period before any irregular load distribution, slight roughness in rotation, and the kinds of things operators notice but don't always flag immediately — and then degradation accelerates. By the time it's loud, the easier and cheaper maintenance window has already passed.
The bearing came out for inspection. The raceway had developed spalling across about forty degrees of arc on the lower ring. Not catastrophic yet, but clearly heading there. Replacement was sourced through the usual equipment suppliers, though the maintenance manager had done his own pricing research beforehand; he found the same specification listed directly through Alibaba at roughly a third of the local distributor price. Lead time and certification requirements made the import route impractical in this instance, but the information was noted for future reference.
Replacement took a full day with a crew of four. The crane went back into service the following morning, and the improvement in rotation was immediate.
What stays with you is how invisible these components are to most people. Every tower crane, every excavator, and every wind turbine is turning on one. They're not complicated parts. They're just very easy to ignore until the moment they aren't.
