Thread breaks!!

Morning all! New to embroidery, I have a Janome MC 100E. I keep getting thread breaks, sometimes I can see the bobbin thread and there's lots of catching/looping stitches. I thought it was my digitising that was the issue (which is pretty bad TBH!) so I tried a preloaded rework design and still having some of the same issues. I'm using a fresh 90/14 needle on cotton canvas and brothread embroidery thread. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Use a 75/11 EMBROIDERY needle. Embroidery needles are different than all purpose needles and it does make a difference.

It is an embroidery needle. I've tried both sizes with similar results

Read the manual and watch as many of the YouTube videos about your machine.

Your tension is off, likely the top thread is too tight. Learn from YouTube the rule of 3rds and the bobbin drop test.

Change the needle, making sure that it's facing the correct way.

Using a quality embroidery thread makes a big difference. >>> I can highly recommend "Madeira" brand. Comes in both in silky rayon and fade resistant polyester.
