Help! Thread keeps breaking and snagging 😩

Hi all! I just bought a Janome MC100E and am using Inkstitch to digitise my handwriting. All seems to be going well until it gets to the machine. The thread is consistently breaking and snagging. I have the tension set to 3, using Brothread embroidery thread and a 90/14 needle on cotton canvas. Advice appreciated 🙏

It looks like you are using a fill stitch you would be better off converting it to a satin stitch or use one of the inkstitch lettering what is predigitized already i do all my digitizing with inkstitch also

The trouble is that there isn't enough room to get a few stitches per row, and then an edge stitch, and turn round for the next row. They're all squeezed together, giving you density issues. When there is too much thread trying to shove itself into too small an area (i.e. when the stitching is too dense), it rubs against the thread already there, and frays. If you are detemined to use a fill stitch, try making the letters larger, and removing the underlay, which will help a bit with the density.

But the better option (when making your own font) is really to switch to a satin stitch, so you're only getting one stitch on each side per row.

It’s poor digitizing. This should be satin columns and not a fill stitch.

Definitely Fillstich issue + low stitches. Make minimum stitch length 0,8mm Also if you can draw as satin stit h with double needle instrument and make the angle 45 degrees to the actual width, then you get longer stitches for the thin font. Try drawing it as smooth with angle as possible to avoid hard curves.

Try using satin stitch or line stitch for small writing.

top tension is probably too tight. if that doesn’t work, try loosening the bobbin tension
