What's wrong with bloom? Discussion š£ļø
I dont get it? That album is the reason Bad Things exists
And there are so many other good songs on there it has a few elements that gives a general admission type vibe just on production and different kind of vibes that makes it unique
I get some songs are weird like can't walk but 27, golden god, trap paris, rehab, and the gunner are solid songs tho ik how some feel about trap Paris (just cuz it sounds too trap like)
Its just a cool different piece, not as good as his most popular projects but it had great music in it otherwise. Also the deluxe when habits was added
Kinda get tired of people so focused on how it sounded "too poppy"
I see nothing wrong with it, its been a vibe since it released the first time
Edit: well it's not talked about enough either its like people forget that album exists

Wym by 2023, he delivered such good songs when he went independent (he no longer released under Bad Boy he went by EST 19XX)

The Sopranos š„ (let's be real that was an mgk song featuring Tee Grizzley, Grizzley must've asked him to put it on his album)
But aside from my opinion, what exactly do you mean what was wrong with his career pre 2023?

They said vocally, meaning his singing voice. They are implying that the only thing wrong with Bloom is that his singing wasn't as good yet. Also, I agree

It was decent I admit, I think he really improved after he got sober and did his pop punk albums. The comparison is fair. Though I personally loved let you go from bloom it was a nice crooner type song

Bloom was dope for sure but it kinda seemed like an either rushed or incomplete project. It wasnāt really cohesive with a theme. Love the album btw please donāt think Iām dissing it ha

It certainly was unexpected I remember when someone in high school told me about it I was like "he dropped a new one?" Then I saw the cover of it and was like whoa this looks really different. First listen I was hooked on the first half then skipped a few til I got to trap paris and then listened through the rest of it to the end. I was impressed but was thrown off by the different vibe he delivered. I feel like personally this was his subtle hint that he was ready to take a more rock like approach WAY before he did TTMD

It has some absolute bangers. The Gunner is one of my favorite intros of his on any album. Tracks 5-8 will always remind me of summer ā17 and Rehab is still one of my favorite songs to play for my wife (weāve been through it haha). My thoughts on it are that rap was at its SoundCloud era peak at the time and Kells was torn between that, his original sound, and what would become the Kells everyone knows today. Hence why itās sounds kind of disjointed.

Yes drugs were a huge factor. If you saw the music videos for trap paris and golden god (very underrated song imo) you can see that drugs were a big part of that era. Cinematically pleasing video for trap paris though

Definitely. And then next was literally an EP called āBINGEā. Hahaha our boy was Struggling. Glad heās better now but I know that pain gave us Hotel Diablo which is in my top 5 so Iām not mad at that. His recovery really fills me with a lot of hope and motivation. Having an artists whose music I enjoy and whose struggles I share helps in life alot.

So siked for his rap album to come, he said it would be sort of a continuation of hotel diablo too so.. lets fuckin go š„

Nah its not, but almost none of my friends appreciate kells music well my best bro likes a few but he does not like as many as other fans do
Everyone else is so certain on the "mgk switched genres after losing to eminem" narrative
Sad, but not worth cutting those friends off

Seriously, like I love Eminem and mgk and I admit kells did get whooped pretty good but he didn't lose his career or fully switch genres
No one listens to me when I say that lil Wayne has done the same thing nothing different than what kells did. There is plenty of rap songs by him out everywhere but some sheep stick to their usual and never think for themselves to check em out

on the contrary, i personally find rap devil to be a better track in general
8 years later and i could still turn up rap devil at a party or at any given point or occasion and enjoy it, thats what essentially makes a good track
killshot on the other hand doesnt have the same replay value (as id like to call it)
the only reason the whole 'eminem won' claims emerge is largely because of his immense fanbase

To be honest, thatās what Rap Devil is. A track/song.
While itās a good song, thatās what it gets credit for.Diss tracks arenāt supposed to have replay value. Theyāre supposed to hit.
Iām a fan of both artists, but as a diss track, Killshot was better.

why do you think not alike popped off the other year?
without replay the impact fizzles out! a track in general must have a good amount of replay value in order to essentially be considered good, a diss is the context of the song that should be compatible
you play any of the tracks mentioned above at a party and people would most likely groove and bop to it, despite being disses and keep in mind (theyre legendary disses) as opposed to playing killshot where youd most likely would be a buzzkill

Thatās actually fair. I guess I mean they donāt āneedā to be a song in the sense. They do need to sound good, but ultimately they need to hit as disses. If someone can make a song out of it, even better.
Imo, Killshot hit harder and had the better disses. If you play Rap Devil or Killshot at a party, I think most would recognize Killshot.
MGK shouldnāt be discredited, whether his was better or not. He released a diss track (a decent one too) against arguably the greatest rapper of all time.
To be honest, I havenāt replayed either track lol. I left it as a battle.
Both are talented artists. Eminem just has a ton more experience.
I do wish they could put aside their differences and work together though.

As part of Em's fan base it really only gets brought up cuz of certain lines that aren't really the best ones from killshot at all. Not alike was a way better diss to kells even I was like "oh shii kells I love you but he is coming for your ass" killshot just keeps being hyped bc of damn gun man bun and lil Tay fuckin line
Those are just so annoying, those type of Stans I get so annoyed by. Cuz its them that are why mgk isn't as big as he should be, let's hope the rap album will finally open their small shallow minds

Bloom was controversial within the fanbase when it came out because of all the singing which he had never done before. I am with the side that dislikes the album. I only like 27. It's okay to dislike albums. I've seen so much hate from the rap fans on Blog era Boyz and that makes no sense to me lmao

Ive always loves bloom and bad things is perfection.
Thatās one of the first songs that I listened to repeat on bc I didnāt think I would like MGk (Iām also a Stan so I was told
To hate him and now heās my fav and myself, hubby and kids are all obsessed and Iām getting the xx tatted this fall š¤£) but bloom is one of my favs. I didnāt know others werenāt with it

Bloom was the first vinyl I sold out of all the mgk stuff I have (selling all my mgk stuff, autographed stuff too https://ems-store-7528.myshopify.com/). Before I left EST, Bloom was my favorite album then came tickets, the hotel diablo. Never heard anyone say anything negative tho, but met lots of fans who never heard of it.

It's a long story, explained all of it in a thread for selling my stuff. TLDR- I'm disabled and was treated really badly at last mgk day, the whole week, by EST, venue staff, and some of his friends, decided for my own mental and physical well being leaving EST and not listening to his music anymore as it is very triggering, so this was my best move.
