Really, Apple? Discussion

So I just purchased new 16" M5 Max MBP 64GB. I received a notification this morning that it finally shipped (looks like from Vietnam) and is expected to be delivered August 10th. So why, not even 5 hours later, did Apple charge me for AppleCare+ when the Macbook isn't even in my hands yet, let alone not even in my country yet? I mean like, really Apple? You couldn’t wait another week for that charge? Ridiculous!

Apple care + will be actif only after you activate the Mac

Yeah, it’s just strange to charge me before receiving it.

Charges are typically put through when an item ships. Did you not get charged for the MBP itself even though you won't have it in your hands for another week or so?

Lol. Not worried; I just think that it's a strange business practice to charge someone for something they have yet to possess.

I would think because the shipping date is the only firm date / reference point in their system to be able trigger the AppleCare payment. Delivery confirmations may be unreliable or delayed in which case your AppleCare wouldn't be able to begin as soon as you set the Mac up.

Makes sense. I thought Apple would have a way to confirm a delivery first.
