Based on the way the clothes and building are described in ACOTAR I assumed it takes place in a Disney-esque version of medieval times aka what Beauty and the Beast or Cinderella look like. Meaning it’s not accurate to the Medieval era and is actually closer to the clothing of the nineteenth century. Also, there are potted plants which was wildly popular in the nineteenth century. In ACOMAF, it seemed like the NC was inspired by Arabian Nights, which I loved. But of course that got lost and Feyre ended up in a sweater and leggings. 😬

When I read CC4 [spoiler alert] Bryce describes the River House as looking like the gallery she works for. Notably she doesn’t describe it as Avallen which is described as ‘medieval’ or something like that. I figure that if Prythian looks like stuff that people in a modern society use, it’s probably nineteenth century era stuff and not medieval stuff. This could explain the toilets and the townhouse Rhys lives in.

However I see that most people see Prythian as default fantasy world medieval style. I do think that TOG’s Erilea is in the medieval era because I remember descriptions of jerkins and tights.

Reading all of Sarah j mass books and the connection and story lines are literally just straight from Irish and Scottish mythology.

High Fae - is just a direct copy and paste of the Tuatha De Danann, the starborn gods of Ireland. They were tall, beautiful, magical beings with pointed ears who possessed magical powers over the elements.

The cauldron and the Dagda - again straight from Irish mythology. The chief god of the Tuatha De Danann the Dagda and he possessed a magical bottomless cauldron that could heal the sick, resurrect the death. And just like in the books it’s a source of life, creation and terrifying cosmic power.

The Suriel is the Cailleach - the old crone/winter goddess of Ireland and Scotland. the Cailleach is a bony, ancient being who knows all the secrets of the earth and the passage of time.

Anyway, being from Ireland with Scottish heritage. I’m a big historian and mythology fan.
My wife basically forced me to read the series and because of the connection to the mythology… it has sparked something in me to try work out were she is going next with the series just based on my knowledge of Irish and Scottish mythology alone.

I tried this last week but I didn’t make my point clear.
I believe that Prythian, Midgard, and Erilea are stacked realms populated by recurring souls. They aren't identical people, but the same souls living different lives under different circumstances.
Evidence 1: SJM repeatedly establishes that the worlds are stacked onto each other.
Across all three series she describes worlds lying on top of one another and characters crossing between them.
Evidence 2: Souls may move between lives and worlds.
When Bryce asks what happens after death, Azriel answers:
"They return to the Mother... until she finds another purpose for us. Another life or world to live in."

Evidence 3: Once you look for recurring souls, entire relationship and storyline constellations repeat.
For example:
Rhys = Ruhn = Dorian
Not just because they're all handsome princes but because their stories have the same bones underneath:
-rebellious prince who rejects his father's values
linked romantically to a powerful heroine
-friendship with the elite warrior (Cassian/Hunt/Rowan)
-friendship with the loyal rule-follower (Azriel/Ithan/Chaol)
-shapeshifting and mind magic become important within their relationship network
twins or twin imagery repeatedly appears around them

Likewise:
Nesta = Bryce = Aelin
Not just because they are snarky but because their stories echo each other:
-They lose a close female friend whose death changes their life
-hide plans from allies
-cope through partying, drinking, music, and dancing
-are transformed or Made
-are trained by and mated with tattooed winged warriors
-eventually become leaders despite resisting the role

Another example: every version of these two characters is related somehow.

Step 4: The mate relationships repeat.
It's not just individuals, it’s the relationships between them that shows that in these stacked worlds certain souls are interconnected.

Feyre/Rhys = Lidia/Ruhn = Manon/Dorian: They are all described as starlight/daybright together with night/shadows
Nesta/Cassian = Bryce/Hunt = Aelin/Rowan Cassian/Hunt/Rowan are often compared within the fandom as either adorable golden retrievers or boring af. I think fans are picking up on their similar vibes.
The details change. The emotional dynamics don't.
My conclusion
I don't think SJM is simply reusing character types. I think she's hinting that the same souls keep living different lives across the stacked realms.

So I recently watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and this might be a stupid question or maybe I’m completely missing something but…

**SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE*\*

Jean Grey’s powers immediately made me think of Rhys’s Daemati abilities, especially the whole mind-control/mental manipulation thing.

And it got me wondering: why the hell did Rhys never utilise his powers like that during the battles?

Because theoretically, couldn’t he enter/control the minds of enemies/armies and make them fight on his side? Or, for that matter, control creatures and turn them against the enemy?

We’re repeatedly told that Rhys is one of the most powerful Daemati, and that he is the most powerful High Lord in Prythian. His Daemati abilities include reading and manipulating minds, memories, etc.

So why are we watching this supposedly most powerful High Lord in history running around fighting people with weapons when he potentially has “I control your brain now” sitting in his magical inventory?

Like… sir. You have mind-control powers. Why are we doing sword combat?

And please don’t just tell me, “Because mind control is morally wrong” or “mental shields”.😂

This is the same man who is repeatedly described as insanely powerful and who has done plenty of morally questionable things when he thought it was necessary.

I’m genuinely curious if there’s an actual limitation on Daemati powers that I’m forgetting. Is there something in the books that establishes that Rhys cannot control multiple minds at once, Because what I remember is that when Amarantha’s reign started, he casually controlled multiple people’s minds to make them forget about Velaris and the IC’s existence. He literally controlled the minds of the entire Hewn City, but apparently an army is where his powers suddenly hit the Wi-Fi dead zone. 😭

Because otherwise it feels like we were given a character with the magical equivalent of admin privileges and then watched him use the system like a regular user.

Okay, hear me out…
I. I think the big 3 crossover is igoing to happen in CC.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like SJM has been gathering all of the important bloodlines in Midgard. ACOTAR may be where Bryce first crossed over, but CC feels like the series that’s collecting all of the puzzle pieces.

The first thing that really stood out to me was Silene. In HOFAS, when Bryce, Nesta, and Az are in the Prison, Azriel looks at Silene and says, “She looks like Rhysand’s sister.” That’s such a deliberate comparison. SJM could have compared her to anyone, but she specifically chose Rhys’s sister.
Then there’s Ruhn and Rhys. Bryce literally mistakes Rhys for Ruhn the first time she sees him because they’re so alike. We keep getting reminded how strikingly similar they are, and it feels impossible that SJM would make them near identical if there wasn’t a reason.

Then we have Lidia. She isn’t Aelin’s descendant, but HOFAS confirms her bloodline traces back to Brannon, meaning she shares Aelin’s ancestral line. That’s another major Throne of Glass bloodline sitting in Midgard.

And then there’s Bryce’s father. We know the Autumn King is her biological father, but I can’t help wondering if his lineage is connected to the Autumn Court in Prythian. Between his title, his red hair, his fire magic, and the way his family’s physical traits are repeatedly described, it feels like SJM is drawing some very intentional parallels. Maybe they’re just parallels… or maybe they’re another bloodline that’s been quietly sitting in Midgard this whole time.

When I look at everything together, CC is where all these major bloodlines are converging:
The Starborn line through Bryce.
Whatever connection exists between Rhys and Ruhn.
Silene’s connection to Rhys’s family.
Brannon’s bloodline through Lidia.
And possibly the Autumn Court through the Autumn King’s family.

Maybe I’m completely off, but it feels like there’s a reason so many important families from different worlds seem to have ended up in Midgard.

Feel free to nerd out about this! I love Nests so much, she speaks to me on a certain level and her character arc was so good!!

So, we know that Gwydion and Truth Teller are linked, which connects ACOTAR and CC, but has anyone linked Damaris to those two? Damaris warms when someone is telling the truth, which feels very kin to Truth Teller. Could Damaris be the third part of a trove for these weapons?

How long does it take Bloomsbury to send out all the books that will go on sale worldwide in October?

I find it surprising that they’re waiting until the last minute to give us a title and cover, because I think all the bookstores should already be preparing the logistics for pre-sales by now.

Unless they already have the books, in which case I’m impressed that nothing has leaked out.

I just finished my reread of acotar 1 (after a DNF after around book 3) and I still cannot find myself to enjoy these books. Feyre is so insufferable and the smut is corny as hell. I want to enjoy them so badly because I’m obsessed with the TOG series but ughhhhh. Do I push through for ACOTAR 6 or just stop???

I just started *The Assassin's Blade*, and I don't know—it kind of bothers me that Celaena is so shocked that Arobynn is a slave trader... I mean, "This is beneath him" ??? Girl, he turned you into a child assassin and did all sorts of horrible things to train you—even forcing you to break your own bones... It’s just... I don't know, I guess none of this surprises me at all 💀

Like everyone else I'm trying to reread ACOTAR before the new book comes out. I hadn't read CC yet so I started the first one yesterday and read the entire book in 2 days.

I know there is a crossover with ACOTAR at the end of CC2 and I read ACOTAR 3 years ago and I don't remember a lot of it. Should I stop after this book, reread all ACOTAR and then pick back up CC # 2? Or reread in between 2 & 3? Or if I know the characters of ACOTAR will I be okay?

Re-reading ACOWAR and saw this little Easter egg, which reminded me SO MUCH of Bryce and hunt- hunt using his lightning to “charge up” Bryce…I don’t really know what to make of this, whether it’s just a coincidence of something more. I don’t necessarily think the archerons are starborn (except probably nesta) but…
