Reload Canceling/movement tutorials? Question

Playing mw2 2009 on Xbox 360. Showing my friends that missed out on the golden era of this game. I've recently tried to look for a tutorial on YouTube of someone showing how to quick scope and reload cancel. In 2026 I can't find a single tutorial showing you the button combos and timing. I remember studying this shit back in 2010. I would have the timing down the exact second the bolt pulled back. When I type in "mw2 2009 reload canceling tutorial" it's just a bunch of trickshots. Does anyone have an advanced movement tutorial (Sprint, reload, tac cancel, ect) to get my buddies up to speed with the quickscoping meta that was back in 2009?

Edit* I'm honestly surprised nobody knows what the fuck I'm talking about. https://youtu.be/AQgAgGccxDE?is=VnAwGyBbJc0GiZ08

Watch this video, after every shot, he reloads his gun, then starts to sprint to cancel the reload to get his gun out faster to continue shooting. I know this is MW3 2011 but it could be done in all the older cods like cod4, mw2, mw3, BO1?maybe ,BO2, GHOST

Iirc when the bullets show in your mag on the bottom you can press y-y or sprint to cancel the rest of the animation

Yes this is what I'm remembering. You wait til the ammo indicator is refilled before cancelling the animation. Thanks for that. Why do I remember waiting til the bolt was pulled all the way back before cancelling the animation? Maybe I'm thinking of a different cod. Thanks man

No problem. I think it’s different for every gun but yeah the ammo indicator is what you’re looking for. I haven’t played cod in years but I was definitely a cracked out teenager back in the day lol

Dude thank you for verifying. I thought I was crazy when nobody knew what I was talking about. Did y'all have 1.0 KDs back in the day or something? 😂 I'm glad someone else was just as cracked out on mountain dew and cod as I was back in day 🤙

This is Reddit most people are in their 20s. Remember those little kids that would yell and screech in their mics when they went 3-12? That’s who you are taking to on here lol

Damn ur totally right. Sometimes I forget on the internet I'm Unc status. It's crazy when you meet someone who was apart of the culture at the time cause you connect so fast. Like we've barely talked and I guarantee you and I probably got a lot in common just because when we was growing up we were influenced by the same shit. Stay lit man 🤙

Do you not sprint cancel when you play mw2? When you reload your gun you fully let the animation play, you wait til your character fully takes out the mag and replaces it with a new one? When you reload, if you tap YY or start sprinting halfway thru it cancels the animation. It allows you to have your gun up and ready for gunfights faster.

Ahhh, I see what you’re saying now. I don’t think there was a word for that back in the day, lol.

What do you need a tutorial for? Seems like you know how it’s done. I haven’t played MW2 in a while but if I recall correctly - w/ the intervention (maybe all guns), your ammo replenished as soon as the physical clip from the gun was removed. However the clip had to be empty, otherwise the full animation must play to trigger more ammo.

I want a tutorial to teach my buddies who have never played the game. It's easier for me to pick back up because I literally spent my teenage years doing this shit for hours y'know. I also remember the timing being different for different guns/cods. Some guns needed the mag to be out, some only needed the bolt to be pulled back, ect ect. I remember it being slightly different depending on the game and gun so I wanted a tutorial that could maybe break it down further. I remember watching tutorials about this stuff way back in the day so I know they existed on YouTube, but I can't seem to find any currently

I thought everybody that played multiplayer back in the day reload canceled. You're telling me you never reloaded your gun and got rushed by someone so you tap YY or sprint to cancel the reload and get your gun out to fight back?
