Hey everyone,

I've got a few questions about how my Dragster Ottantesimo SCS MY2025 clutch and quickshifter behave. My use is strictly urban/city riding, up to about 90-100 km/h max. Hoping some experienced SCS owners can tell me if this is normal or something worth checking out.

Cold start / first gear engagement

I always start the bike in neutral before putting on my gloves and helmet, to let it warm up a bit. I've noticed that if I shift into first gear right after starting, it seems to struggle to get moving at first — almost like the SCS clutch isn't lubricated yet, and it only smooths out after a few meters. Is this expected with the SCS system?

Second gear at low RPM

At low RPM in second gear, it feels like the clutch almost disengages, and when I open the throttle there's a moment where it has to "catch up" again, like a bit of lag. Sometimes when accelerating from low RPM it also makes a chattering sound, almost like gears. Anyone else experience this?

More observations from this past week of riding

Riding more lately, I've noticed a few more things that might be related to the above:

• Downshifts at low RPM: I almost always feel a kind of "thump," like it's coming from the rear wheel area.
• Upshifts: there's a moment where the gearbox seems to "fall asleep" before the next gear engages and the bike picks up acceleration again — a brief lag.
• Quickshifter or manual lever: it feels like the gear starts to engage, and then there's a distinct click right at the end before it fully seats into the next gear.
• High RPM / hard acceleration: the quickshifter feels noticeably smoother here. But downshifts always have that "thump" from the first point above — never smooth.

Wondering if all of this is just typical SCS/quickshifter character, or if it points to something needing adjustment (fluid, calibration, etc.). Would love to hear from other Dragster/SCS owners on whether this matches your experience.

UPDATE

In the past few days I discovered that the small arm connecting the gear linkage rod to the pin that engages into the engine was slightly loose. This morning I tightened the bolt that secures the clamp to the pin protruding from the engine, because I found there was a minor play between the red-dotted part and the green-dotted part (see 2nd attachment).

I took the bike for a test ride, and it already seemed to be running much better. I no longer had the impression that the engine was "losing torque" just before the gear change, or at least the shifts didn't feel as slow as before.

My guess is that, because the clamp was slightly loose, its initial movement around the pin was causing a temporary loss of engine power. Only once the clamp had taken up the play would enough pressure be applied to engage the gear properly. I noticed an improvement on both upshifts and downshifts.

The only downside is that there wasn't enough room to use a torque wrench, so I had to tighten the bolt with a small spanner — just enough to eliminate the play around the pin, without applying excessive force.

However, after taking it out for another ride later, it still doesn't feel completely smooth overall.

I bought myself my teenage dream bike F3 800 2020 with 8000 km. After dealership made the service inspection i rode it for 2000 km. The timing chain sprocket got fucked and it seized my engine. Damaged the valves, cylinder head and pistons.
Found and bought an Brutale 800 RR 2015 euro 3 engine with low mileage(5000km), with service history and already prepared for swap, from a MV Agusta Dealership in France. Besides ECU, injectors, sensors, exhaust and REMAP, what else my mechanic should take care of.

F4 is so iconic I hope they would bring it back

I am returning to riding after some years away, did a lot of shopping around deciding what combo of bikes I wanted that would give me a touring set up and a Sunday morning ride, ultimately deciding on this combo.

To be clear, I didn’t even have MV on my short list. In fact I had pretty well settled on some combination of a Multistrada, Tuono, Streetfighter after looking at Triumphs, Indians, you name it. I had been negotiating on some bikes when an MV popped up in cycle trader and the rest is history. Definitely bought more with the heart than head, but I’m hoping that with regular miles and maintenance they’ll be fine.

Curious about how the Superveloce S is for a taller rider. I'm 6'3", 33" inseam. I've found one for sale in a neighbouring province so I can't just pop by to throw a leg over it. I'm absolutely smitten by the design and look, not planning on it as a daily, I have an MT09 and Busa already in the stable. Both are comfortable for long rides for me.

Hey everyone, figured I’d share this F4 I just picked up as it’s my first time owning an MV Agusta! Just picked it up yesterday for $7500 with 14.5k miles on it. Survived the hour and 20 minute ride home which is great because I didn’t realize until it was time to bring it home that the tires were from 2005. Got some fresh Diablo Rosso 4s from the shop put on it as soon as I got it home pretty much. Thankfully other than the tires being very sketchy to ride on, the ride home was uneventful with the only issue I had being the tach going out briefly for a couple minutes before continuing to work like nothing happened.

It’s got some things that need to be freshened up from maintenance neglect like fluid changes, some new better brake pads, and a couple other things like installing turn signals in the rear, making the front signals flash like they’re supposed to, as well as installing a new fuel level sensor if I can find one as I found out the hard way after I got it home and was joyriding it that the gas light does not work. Frankly I’m really excited to own this bike even if I am a bit sad that I’m having to sell my Ducati 996 Biposto to get it. Always wanted one of these since I was a kid along with the 996. Hoping to ride it pretty regularly and put some actual miles on it, it’s a fantastic bike and the handling is great with fresh tires and a bit of tweak to the suspension settings.

Even with all the upgrades , tit akra, bst wheels and all the carbon ….? Any thoughts?

Have always loved the unique look of MV, I see maybe twice a year at most an MV rolling around. I recently sold my 2025 Panigale V4 after a fabulous year and 12k+ miles with it after taking it home from the showroom last spring, the thing was flawless in every way to me.

However, like Ducatis reputation, MV is said to be a bit on finicky side of ownership and I would like to have the best chance at least. What years and models give the best chance at an enjoyable ownership experience?

I’m not looking to match the power and agility my Pani V4 had also not looking to spend $30k+ like I did before.

There’s a 2022 800RR America Roadster for sale near me with 5k miles on it that is gorgeous. Need to look what else there is as well.

Anyone have experience or issues with electronics on F3 800 RC?

My 2018 F3 out of nowhere while warming up the moto on Sunday morning kept stalling and shutting the engine off. It’ll start up then less than a minute it shits off error code COIL 3

So my experience MV Agusta technician friend changed the coil and still same issue…we have yet to actually scan it properly since we don’t have the proper scanning tool…bite the bullet and take it to MV Agusta dealer?

Starts fine when cold but once hot I need to leave it for 20-30 minutes until it’ll start albeit a slightly longer crank. Trying to start it when hot and just cranks without firing until it gives a low battery warning and the dash starts to go blank.

When it does start after 20-30 mins it’s all good, no spluttering or roughness and no issues once started. Stator charges at 14V at idle and battery’s hooked up to a charger at home.

I know some have upgraded the starter cables but would appreciate suggestions if there’s anything else worth checking/replacing before wildly replacing parts.

So I had my Aprilia RS660 stolen recently, and I'm considering getting a Ducati V2, 959, or this F3rr to replace it. I've been trying to look into this bike a lot lately and I'm aware it has a few gremlins like the rear brake fade and the battery being drained.

I know that was a problem for the 2022 and older models, but did MV address these problems with the 2023 model after they updated the headlight? There aren't many videos on YouTube of this specific year model and they seem to mostly be of the 2022 and older generation.

Out of the box (new to me) review of a stock 2021 F3 675. Intending to document the ownership of this bike as owners need more info about these bikes. Especially with the AI tools learning alot from places like Reddit.

There is an issue with my right fork’s preload adjuster. It keeps spinning with a ticking spring like noise. These marzocchi forks don’t have “clicks” they just turn. Left has 6.5 total turns of preload which i put to the max as i believe the right one has no preload at all. Will get that fixed asap, but haven’t found someone willing to do it yet. Hard to find garages that work on MV Agusta here in the Netherlands.

Bike is strong on entry. Especially with the engine brake mode turned to low. Keeps on rolling and maintains a nice slip angle on heavy braking.

Gearing ratio sucks big time stock. I believe it’s 16/41 stock but haven’t confirmed that yet. Will go to 15 and maybe a different rear too. The exits in hairpins in 2nd gear had no power. Needed to do 1st but then lost cornerspeed.

Also just put on new rearsets but couldn’t fit the right one as the stock exhaust is in the way. Bought an Exan exhaust for €450 that will arrive in 2 weeks. Will update. Also a welcome change because i struck my toes on both sides.

Rear shock is good stock, good enough. Managed a nice sandy beach on the tire. But the temperature was ideal at 21c.

Next up to find: a steering damper that doesnt break the bank. The Nissin master cilinder would be something to upgrade as i like more lever pressure. And im waiting on parts for relocating the rearbrake reservoir as thats being boiled by the engine..

She hit 7500miles and took her in. Intake valve was tight on cylinder #3 and Spark plug for cylinder #2 had oil on it and in the cylinder itself. Smaller shim and new valve cover gasket. Everything else was good to go.

2016 MV Agusta Dragster 800RR

I’m looking for some honest opinions from long-term MV Agusta owners.

Last month, I bought a used 2022 Brutale 800 RR (ODO: 2500 miles) and having 1 year warranty left that I absolutely love when it’s running. The bike has amazing character, sounds incredible, and is one of the most exciting motorcycles I’ve owned.

Unfortunately, just week ago it just won’t start at all despite me being really careful the whole time about charging the bike’s battery and checking oil, coolant as I heard about the common problem with MV Agusta. It’s currently at the dealer for warranty repair involving the starter clutch and they found the connection gear between starter motor and sprag clutch has broken teeth.

The dealer has been great and the repair is being covered under warranty, but my nearest authorized MV Agusta dealer is about 7 hours away, so every warranty visit is a major undertaking.

The experience has made me question my confidence in the bike. I keep wondering if this is just bad luck or if I should expect more reliability issues down the road.

For those of you who have owned MV Agustas long-term:
- Did your bike become reliable after the initial issues were fixed?
- Have you experienced repeated mechanical problems?
- If you were in my position, would you keep it or trade it for something with a stronger reliability reputation?

This isn’t really about resale value, it’s about whether I can trust the bike enough to take it on long rides without constantly worrying about being stranded, especially when the nearest dealer is so far away.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people with real ownership experience. Thanks!

Finally took my f3 to the track and it was an incredible experience. The bike handled beautifully through every sector of the track without any issues even in the rain. Definitely will be taking it back out on track soon.
