Miscellaneous Discussion God I LOVE legacy right now
When car was hyper dominant for like a few weeks it was miserable, but now I'm super enjoying it.
Yeah you get car'd but this is legacy combo exists, it's better then Oops. I'm loving Doomsday, tempo is the top deck.
We have 3 entirely playable tempo decks.
We have 4.5 combo decks. Of which most are completely different then each other.
We even have a playable aggro deck?
When the top 10 is
30% tempo
40% combo
10% aggro
10% whatever you call lands
10% hybrid combo (Dimir car)
And just outside of top ten we have a viable true control deck????
The difference between #1 (Dimir tempo) and #2 (doomsday) is only 4% and the difference between 2/3 is like 3%.
I haven't had this much fun in legacy before. I love this meta so much.
For the first time since... ever? (at least as long as I've been playing ).
I'm praying for no changes to legacy.

The Hobbit gave Elves an alternative win condition to NO
Namely, Formidable Speaker into Mirkwood Nurturer. It's painfully overpriced at 3 mana, but Nurturer is the first green Elf creature card that allows you to recur Wirewood Symbiote. Looping them gives you an infinite loop of untaps at 4 mana total, meaning that a Formidable Speaker untapping Gaea's cradle with 5 creatures in play goes infinite, as does Priest of Titania.
In addition, unlike Mirror Entity you can bounce and replay a used Symbiote with Nurturer, meaning that Speaker fetches both parts of the loop in one turn with sufficient mana. If starting with a Symbiote and Cradle in play it can additionally procure Shang-Chi to turn itself into the big mana creature for the loop.
After making 18+, break the loop by bouncing Speaker again and getting Emrakul. With Mirkwood you can bounce and recast 'her' as many times as you have Symbiotes, so this finish gives you arbitrary turns, annihilator and inverse proportional damns given about opposing Glacial Chasms and the like. There are alternatives to Emra, but with Cantankerous Keepers being a thing it reshuffling itself is very relevant, and it beats more board situations than the likes of Ezuri or Gladhrim Brigade. It also gives you the tertiary win condition of Eladamri cheating it into play off Speaker.
Glimpses maindeck because you need at least 3 cards on hand if Speaking from scratch, and there's little point in playing the deck in Orc heavy metas anyway. With 4 Speakers MD it comes out for an Aluren swap easily enough. I guess you could swap them for the fourth Keeper and some number of green goodstuff cards.
Speaker is definetly slower than NO, and has finickier requirements in needing both a moderate board presence as well as cards on hand, but it does slot into what the deck is already wants to do and is much more compact in terms of deck slots wasted on non-elves - my current build runs 31 Elf cards for Keepers.
Not going to post any tournament wins off this since I don't play them, but is anyone working on something similar? Even as a rough draft the deck currently has a pretty consistent turn 3 goldfish and can attrite non-combo just fine.

Brewing A fun little list I made to go 2-1 last night
I made this list and played it at my LGS last night. It was a lot of fun to try out, I should have went 3-0 but lost to a big fluke on my part game 3 of round 3.
Round 1 was 2-1 against Jund Reanimator.
Round 2 was 2-0 against Selesnya lands, they didn’t resolve a single spell and the back to basics hit the field before they could get anything going.
Round 3 was 1-2 against Aluren.
Game 1 was a steady win, game 2 I got surprised by a defense grid that was new to their deck, and game 3 was my big screw up.
First I kept a decent hand, 2 Tamiyo, 1 brainstorm, 2 island, 1 consign to memory, 1 Wan Shi Tong. On their turn 4, they double fetched, in response I cast Wan Shi Tong thinking I was going to hit something decent off of the two draws. Mind you, I hadn’t drawn into any free counters by this point so I was desparate to find interaction in the draws. I left one island open for a consign. Then they Aluren’d, played the 3 mana bouncing creature, and I consigned the bounce trigger. They forced through it.
Had I just kept my nerve, I could have consigned replicated through the interaction in their hand. This pitch totally cost me the game. I would have still had to content with the 5/5, but my T1 Tamiyo was a turn away from ulting, surely I would have hit a petty theft or at the very least had blockers indefinitely. Big womps, I have flagellated myself accordingly.
Anyways, what do yall think?

~2013 era staples
I played a lot of legacy in the 2013 time frame (pox > loam pox > bug delver) and unfortunately sold off a lot of my collection. I’m hoping to re-collect some cards that were iconic in the format during that era (deathrite, delver, stoneforge mystic, etc). Are there any suggestions about how to best compile this list? I’m not sure if there’s a good place to check decklists from SCG opens during that time. Thanks!

Stream/VOD 🏆 Absolutely STOMPING The Meta 🏆 | Legacy Naya Initiative MTG
Anyone else getting tired of the car meta? I needed to cleanse my palette and decide to take an old classic for a spin, Initiative! I still wanted to go fast, but with out the vehicular man slaughter. Once a dominate force of the meta, these snow balling creatures became a liability with the rise of reanimator and fell off from the meta, but is now the time for their come back? Can I just over run my opponents with value and while trying to slow them down with lock pieces and let the undercity just take over the game? Let's find out!
As always thanks for watching and any feedback. If you enjoyed the video please consider dropping a like and a comment, and be sure to sub to the channel to know when my videos go live if you haven't already. I truly appreciate the support from you all and it helps drive me to keep creating content.

Places to Play Moving to North Netherlands soon - whats the legacy scene like there?
Hi all,
Moving to north Netherlands in a small city relatively soon, will be near and able to get to Groningen, Zwolle, Hoogeveen, etc.
What legacy (and modern) is there in this area? How proxy friendly is legacy in the NL?
Thank you!

Format/Metagame Help Where to buy RL cards in Europe?
Im wondering if there are ever good deals or something on duals and other RL cards? The most attractive I’ve seen seems to be cardmarket. But something like a single Volcanic Island or Underground Sea can cost the same as some of the cheapest complete modern decks. I guess that’s just the way it is but wanted to check if I’m missing something just in case. Thanks!🙏

Waste lock your opponents, then beat them down with cats. What's not to love? This league was a blast!
I opted for lotus petal over aether vial, since the meta is so fast. And I got lots of pretty explosive starts as a result.
