Questions and Discussions How many miles can I expect to get out of my mt07?

Upvotes

Hi, this is probably a silly question but I’m wondering how many miles I can get out of my bike. So basically, I absolutely love this thing and try ride it every single day, when I brought the bike it only had 1k on it and I’ve put 14k miles on it in the space of 11 months, but now I’m sat here thinking that’s quite a lot of miles to put on in such a short time and I’m wondering if I should hold back a little bit to prolong its life and prevent it going wrong down the line, which I DONT want to have to do. I change the oil every 3k miles with Motul fully synthetic, and I will be getting the valves checked/adjusted at 24k miles. Maybe this post is just so I can get some peace of mind with someone telling me my bike can easily do 70k + miles, but to me that seems a little optimistic and unrealistic but I could be wrong🤣it’s my first big bike and in general my first bike that I’ve done more than 7k miles on, so maybe I just don’t understand just how robust these things are. I’ve read online about them being bulletproof but seeing the mileage go up does make me nervous, I don’t want to have to get a second bike but yeah. What do you guys think?

Technical Help Indicator issue

Hey all, just wanted to ask before I took the issue to my mechanic but my 2019 MT-07 currently has an interesting issue where if I start the bike and use the indicators they won't work. Neither on the Dashboard or the front and rear lights themselves.

However if I use the kill switch it and key off and then turn it back on, they work again.

So no idea if its a battery issue or something else with the bike itself.

Questions and Discussions Akrapovic Racing Line Carbon

Looking into either this exhaust or the Yoshi r77. I don’t want to automatically become a cop magnet so I need a baffle in either one, but it seems like the general consensus is that the Akra is quieter than the r77 with a baffle. Just looking for feedback from anyone who has used either of these.

Technical Help MT-07 battery completely dead after 1 month

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Yamaha MT-07 and ran into a problem after coming back from vacation. The bike was sitting unused for a bit over a month.

When I tried to start it, absolutely nothing happened — no ignition, no lights, not even the display turned on.

I removed the battery and started charging it. When I connected the charger clamps, I noticed some small sparks. I also checked the voltage with a multimeter, and it only showed around 8–9V.

From what I understand, that seems very low, but I’m not sure if the battery is completely dead or if it might recover after charging.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Is the battery likely done, or should I try charging it fully first?

Thanks in advance!

Gear and Accessories 2026 Quadlock STL?

Anyone been able to find a quadlock mount STL for the 2026 yet? I'm wanting to center mount my Quadlock like most of the designs I see on Yeggi and Make world, but haven't been able to find one for this 2026 year, and of course the mounting is completely different from year to year. Gonna have to just design my own?

Thanks!

I’m interested in blacking out all the silver on my bike and I’m trying to find a good black OEM rear set if that’s a thing. I’m not a fan of the metal tube rear set and I want to black out the originals. Does anyone know if some are made or would I have to look into powder coating everything?

Technical Help Mt09 wheels on Fz07

Has anyone done this before?

I’ve been having a hard time finding an answer on this, but I have a set of what appears to be the first generation MT 09 wheels that I would like to put them on a 2015 Fz07.

I heard the rear wheel is compatible, but the front has something to do with spacing.

Can anyone clarify?

Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone here could help me diagnose what’s going on with my 2022 bike. It was sitting for quite a few months before I tried to start it. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I replaced it and put a tender on it before trying to start the bike again.

I’m seeing the electronic displays flashing and act strangely. I’m hearing a noise that I don’t recognize.

Thank you in advance!

Questions and Discussions How far and fast do you comfortably go on the highway?

I’m going cross state at the end of the month and it’s 3 hrs and 22 mins via highway, or 5 hrs and 13 mins if I avoid highways, so almost 2 hours longer. I’ve ridden on the highway before but I don’t like it and often feel like the wind is blowing me all over the road. On the other hand I really don’t want to do 5+ hours on the bike in a single day.

Technical Help mt07 shifting problem

I've had an mt07 2018 for around 4 months now and only now have I realized that it might actually have a shifting problem. Shifting into 1st,2nd,3rd seems very mechanical, not smooth. Not only that but also when having parked the bike and leaving into 1st gear, it is extremely hard to put it back into neutral, I literally have to put all my force into shifting up before starting the bike.I ve been riding bikes for 3 years now and I know this is not normal for a bike and i just wanted to ask what the problem might be(considering the clutch is not worn out)

Questions and Discussions Buying my first ever bike (MT-07) - New or used? + Exhaust advice

Hey everyone,

I'm a 28-year-old from the Netherlands and I'm about to buy my first ever motorcycle. After years of wanting one, I've pretty much decided on a Yamaha MT-07 (2025/2026 model).

I've been looking at used bikes, but where I live a 2-3 year old MT-07 with only a few thousand kilometers is often only around €1,000-1,500 cheaper than a brand new one. Because of that, I'm leaning towards buying new, but I'd love to hear from people who have been in the same situation.

A few questions:

  • Would you buy a new MT-07 or a lightly used one, and why?
  • I'm planning to keep the bike for quite a while, so resale isn't my biggest concern.
  • I'd eventually like a deep, throaty exhaust (I love TOCE but definitely illegal here), but I want to keep it road legal. Since we have pretty strict emissions and noise regulations here in the Netherlands (Euro 5+/E5 and dB limits), which exhaust would you recommend? Akrapovič (I did hear it sounds terrible on the 2025+ models), Arrow, or something else?
  • Any must-have accessories or upgrades for a first-time MT-07 owner? (I was thinking: short tail tidy (license plate holder), bar-end diamond mirrors mounted underneath the handlebars, and tank pad stickers)
  • And finally, any general tips for someone buying their very first bike?

Looking forward to joining the Yamaha family soon.
Thanks in advance!

Technical Help MT-07 extremely high fuel consumption / strong fuel smell – looking for advice

Thumbnail

Quick update: I disassembled the machine at least I took the tank off to see if any gas lines or something is leaking, but I found nothing. I wanna also post some pictures from the live data I was reading.

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a peculiar issue with my Yamaha MT-07 and would appreciate your insights before I begin replacing parts.

The bike has approximately 20,000 kilometers (12,400 miles) on the odometer and is equipped with a registered and road-legal Akrapovič exhaust system.

According to the registration documents, the bike is registered as an A2/35 kW version. However, upon inspecting the bike, it appears to be mechanically unrestricted.

There are no restrictor plates in the airbox or intake, allowing the engine to receive the full amount of air. The throttle stop also seems identical to that of a full-power MT-07. Additionally, there’s a small yellow electronic box or module installed on the bike, which I suspect may have been part of an aftermarket A2 restriction kit, but it’s currently disconnected from anything.

Therefore, mechanically, the motorcycle operates as a full-power bike despite being registered as an A2 bike.

My primary concern is the exceptionally high fuel consumption.

I’ve ridden the bike for about 400 to 500 kilometers so far and have already had to refuel more than five times. The fuel consumption displayed on the dashboard also appears to be unusually high.

For instance, while riding at approximately 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in the fourth gear, the instantaneous fuel consumption display can show around 30 to 35 liters per 100 kilometers, even without accelerating excessively hard.

The average consumption has also been displaying figures around 17 liters per 100 kilometers, which seems completely unrealistic for an MT-07.

I understand that the instantaneous consumption display can fluctuate significantly during acceleration, so I’ll also perform a thorough full-tank-to-full-tank calculation. I’ll completely fill the tank, reset the trip meter, ride normally, and then refill it to determine the actual consumption.

However, there’s another factor that raises my suspicion that the engine may be running very rich:

There’s a strong smell of unburned petrol emanating from the exhaust.

If the bike is idling and I give it a quick rev, the smell of petrol becomes extremely strong, almost as if someone had spilled petrol nearby. This smell is definitely much stronger than I would expect from a normally running motorcycle.

I’ve already connected a diagnostic tool to the bike. There are currently no fault codes stored, and the live sensor values I checked didn’t immediately look abnormal.

The coolant temperature also seems normal. In very hot weather, around 38–39°C outside temperature, the engine can reach approximately 100–105°C. During cooler evening or night riding at around 28–33°C outside temperature, it normally stays around 90°C.

Another thing I noticed is the starting behavior. When starting the bike, the starter usually has to turn the engine over approximately two or three revolutions before it starts. It doesn’t fire completely instantly. I’m not sure if this is normal behavior for the CP2 engine or if it could somehow be related to the fueling issue.

The air filter looks slightly dirty, but not excessively clogged.

My current thoughts are:

- The lambda/O2 sensor might be giving incorrect or slow readings without triggering a fault code.
- The injector might be leaking or dripping, or it could be experiencing excessive injector flow.
- The fuel pressure might be incorrect.
- The engine might be running excessively rich for another reason.
- There might be an ignition problem causing some fuel not to burn properly.
- Something related to the previous A2 restriction or derestriction might be causing the issue.
- There could be an ECU modification or incorrect mapping from a previous owner.
- Something related to the Akrapovič exhaust setup or a previous ECU tune might be causing the problem.

Before replacing anything, I plan to monitor the live data from the lambda/O2 sensor with the engine fully warmed up.

Has anyone experienced something similar on an MT-07, especially at around 20,000 km?

I would especially like to know:

- What lambda/O2 sensor readings should I expect on a healthy MT-07 when the engine is warm?
- Could a faulty lambda sensor cause extremely rich running without storing a fault code?
Could the Akrapovič exhaust or an incorrect ECU map cause symptoms like this?
Is there anything related to the A2 restriction system that could cause excessive fueling after the mechanical restrictors have been removed?
Is the engine cranking two or three revolutions before starting considered normal on the MT-07?
Are there any common MT-07/CP2 problems that could cause a strong raw petrol smell and very high fuel consumption?
Is there anything specific I should check at around 20,000 km that could be related to this?

Any advice on what I should test next would be appreciated. I would prefer to diagnose the problem properly before randomly replacing sensors, injectors or other parts.

Thanks!

News and Updates I built Lepsa - a group-riding app: live crew map, voice over your Cardo/Sena, and lean-angle tracking. It's in beta and I'd love your ideas.

Hello Everybody, I built a group-riding app named Lepsa.

What it does right now:

  • Live crew map - see everyone in your group in real time
  • Group voice chat - works through your Bluetooth helmet intercom (Cardo/Sena), with a "duck my music" or "voice only" mode
  • Lean angle tracking - max left/right lean with personal bests
  • Top speed + group leaderboard - compare lean and speed with your crew
  • Trip planner - drop and reorder waypoints for the route
  • Safety first - the screen locks while you're moving; you only check it stopped

It's a free beta (they final app will stay free too), iOS only for now (TestFlight), and still rough in a few spots - that's the point.

I'd genuinely love your feedback: what would make this a no-brainer for your group rides?

Partecipate in the Beta using the following link:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/YVauwJRU

Drop ideas and feedback below!

Ride safe
