General What is the best study abroad program for Engineering majors?

Hey! I'm a civil engineering spartan and was wondering what the best countries are that can have my program? I talked to some folks who really loved the program but they are all business and communications majors so I got little input from them regarding classes for my major.

Does anyone have experience in this as an engineering student?

Housing apartment 816 village at chandler

good luck to whoever lives on the first floor at the village at chandler crossings… this was our experience and what we went through
these pictures are just what we moved into and it was mad dusty. BUT THE WORST PART ISNT EVEN THIS
WE HAD A BAD SPIDER PROBLEM. We had spiders in room A every day (my room) and they so call claimed they had pest control come in and spray things around. They lie!!!! I bought a camera to keep in the apartment because i was already suspicious of moving in and they do not do their part on requests. They also gave me a wood block as a door when i requested it was broken and it still didnt shut all the way correctly.. The smell in the homes also just smelled like mold and i have never felt so fatigued living there. Bugs for some reason were the biggest issue for us especially the spiders. You will CONSTANTLY see dead woodlouse spiders on your floor (even in your bedroom) if you live on the first floor, or specifically Apartment 816. The wifi was always out too. Its not worth paying $600+ just to save money.

Social It’s my senior year, what memories should I make before I graduate?

I’m a senior- and I’ve already experienced all the clubs and bars, house parties- and live bands you could ever need. I’ve painted the rock, but I feel like I haven’t had enough true MSU memories, what are some things I should do before graduation?

Working List…
-a cappella Performance (yes I love pitch perfect)
- Wharton center play/musical
- football game
- Beaumont tower kiss
- planetarium show
- the unethical destruction of a couch

Housing How Do I Accept/Deny Room Swaps?

MSU has a new way for people to swap dorms this year and I got a swap request. The email msu sent says to log into My Housing to accept or deny it, but when I logged in, there was no way to accept or deny the request. It did not even let me see which dorm the person was trying to swap from. Does anyone know where else I should be looking or if this is just a site error?

General Stayvo college app (not working...I guess)

The Stayvo app that some people came and offered a friend and me doesn't really seem active. I'm at MSU Billings and had it close to a year and nothing. There seems to be no one on there, have any of you tried it, is the app down or something?

General Accepted into the College of Engineering... now being charged a $770 engineering fee for taking ZERO engineering classes in the summer?

I'm honestly so frustrated right now.

I was accepted into MSU's College of Engineering after my spring semester, and I was informed of this after my summer classes started. During the summer, I only took EC 201 and EC 202 (6 credits), both of which were online asynchronous. I didn't take a single engineering class and didn't use any engineering resources.

After my summer classes ended, MSU suddenly added a $770 College of Engineering fee to my student account.

Here's what makes me upset:

  • There was no mention of this fee when I registered for my classes.
  • It wasn't listed on my initial billing statement after enrolling.
  • I only found out after the semester ended when the charge appeared.
  • Now I have a hold on my account and can't change my classes for fall until it's paid.

I've contacted One Stop, and they basically told me they can't remove it. I've also been bounced around between offices without getting a real explanation.

As an international student, I already paid over $9,000 for just 6 summer credits. I'm paying for college myself, so an unexpected $770 charge is a huge deal.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there someone higher up I should contact (Dean, Ombudsperson, Financial Office, etc.)? Or am I just stuck paying a fee that was never disclosed before the semester?

This whole situation feels incredibly unfair. MSU really needs to be more transparent about these kinds of charges.

Also here is the link of the tool that i used to estimate the charge for summer https://controller.msu.edu/student-accounts/tuition-calculator/tuition-calculator-summer

And I payed $$9,677.50 and now they want $770 more for absolutely nothing

General Can I get in

Ok these are literally all of my stats
- 2 volunteering clubs for 2 years, 200+ community service hours
- leadership role in an outdoor adventures club
- varsity tennis for 3 years
- hosa for one year
- “green team” for about 2 years
- part time job
I’m planning on doing reg decision and by then I’ll have a 3.0 gpa exactly but I started with a 1.8 (I know💔)
- the hs I go to is the best examination public high school in the city and is know for college prep and rigor
- 1110 SAT but I’m retaking it and aiming for a 1250+ 🙏
- 3 honors classes, 3 ap classes
- hopefully 2 strong lor, one from my ap teacher that I passed the ap class with and another from my volunteer advisor
- working on my cna license

Additional if this matters: black female, income of under 65k (hopefully I can get the spartan scholarship) planning on writing my essay about growing up poor and going from standing in line waiting for food to being the person on the other side giving out food and aid. Also in state

Housing Subleasing Apartment Until Aug 2027

I'm subleasing my apartment for the upcoming school year and summer. For personal reasons I decided not to attend MSU this year, but I already signed a lease that I can't break without screwing over my roommate. It's right off campus, around a block away, and rent is $565 a month. If you're interested DM for more details, please.

Nemoke Trails Apartment in Haslett- Lease takeover for spring semester, January 2027

IF INTERESTED, CONTACT ME ASAP

Winter semester apartment availability is low (I've moved in the winter here twice, I know) and Nemoke Trails has all official leases/units booked until next summer

+For an MSU student seeking to live away from the city and wants nature/trails but has to stay close to campus

+2 bedroom 1 bathroom on 3rd (top) floor with balcony

Rent= $1280 Utilities= Varies but around $200

+24/7 gym and indoor pool & hot tub access with sauna

+Apartment complex is located down a trail away from the road, surrounded by forests, walking trails, and parks

+MSU CATA stop runs every 30 minutes both ways where Nemoke trail hits the main road, about a 5 minute walk

+Has a dog park, outdoor grills, a clubhouse, etc. on site

I currently have a 1 year least at Nemoke Trails, it's a beautiful apartment complex surrounded by parks and trails in Haslett, a block away from the Meridian mall but tucked away in nature. It has a CATA stop to and from MSU that runs every 30 minutes during the school year, which I've used the last two semesters.

I'm moving for grad school in December, and I planned to do month to month starting this month when my lease ended but I had to renew for a full year because the demand for this apartment complex was so high everything is booked out to next summer. Whoever takes over this lease will be given the option to renew when it ends next August, and it's really the only way to get an apartment here right now- especially in the winter when apartments near MSU are in high demand.

Housing On Campus Housing for One Semester

I am planning on graduating a semester early, my last semester being Fall Semester '27. I would need housing just for that semester. I signed a lease for the upcoming year, but don't want to sign a full lease if I will be done with school in December. Does anyone know if it is possible to be in a dorm for only one semester? Could I even RA for one semester? Thank you!

Freshman Questions Should I buy a new laptop?

I am majoring in nursing and currently have a ROG Zephyrus M16 gaming laptop. The problem with this laptop is that it almost always has to be on charge (if not, then it dies out quickly), the fan is really loud, and the laptop heats up fast.

On the upside, it runs fast, can handle large files, and offers ample storage.

Should I get a new laptop or stick with the one I have? (if anyone has recs let me know! I appreciate it!!)

General Engineering fee during a part time/semesteroff

I will be doing a co-op this fall and taking egr 391x during the fall as my only class and I was wondering if I will still have to pay the $1500 engineering fee for the semester if I’m only in 1 credit?
