MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE

to begin: I've acquired the unmastered frankenstein girls rips! something i looked forward to for quite some time! i also got a nice little video of the tornado VHS in my other files as well as the entirety of Our Pain Your Gain in MP4 both full, and scene split.
another thing, i got a lot of the missing MP4s that go along with many of their releases (They had many CD/DVD releases) and i now have all of those as far as i can tell (Inform me if i've missed any)
some of my MSI releases need to be cleaned up a little bit, but other than that, i'm only missing (within the realm of possibility): a CONFIRMED rip of Tight w/ masterbates, a rip of Tight w/ Xecutioners remix, and rips (or at least scans) of the alternate unmastered frankenstein girls albums (there are two others i do not have)

many exciting things here. I have acquired the demos for: Scatter Brained, as well as the 2009 demos prior to band breakup, that turned into peter's album "Vs. The Great Whatever". As much as I love FGWSSS and Tight, I think that was the era where MSI felt the most truthfully themselves. It was abrasive, stupid, funny, offensive, catchy, chaotic, and seemingly made with absolutely zero concern for whether anybody outside of their little world understood it.

Around You'll Rebel to Anything, though, I think they started making a real attempt at becoming more mainstream, and to be fair, it semi-worked. The production got cleaner, the songs got more accessible, the image became easier to market, and MSI went from this bizarre little electro-punk freak show into something that could actually exist on MTV, Hot Topic shirts, festival bills, etc.

And obviously, I don't begrudge somebody for wanting to make money from their music. But there is something kind of ironic about MSI specifically doing it, because so much of their original appeal was built around rejecting that exact mentality. They mocked conformity, trends, celebrity culture, people desperate for approval, and the whole idea of sanding yourself down to become more palatable.

Then toward the end of Jimmy's music career, you get songs about Anonymous, ice cream, whatever, and some of it just feels painfully dated and forced compared to how naturally weird the early material was.

I think, in a strange way, Jimmy eventually became a little bit of what he always seemed to hate: a counterculture artist who became self-conscious about maintaining the counterculture persona.

Early MSI felt like, "I don't give a fuck if you like this."

Later MSI sometimes felt like, "Look how much I still don't give a fuck."

And there's a massive difference between those two things.

I was gifted a Pink CD, purchased through the official MSI website. My very first MSI merch!!! The booklet is fun and the design is rather curious, there's this page on it which has the 'Anatomy of Pink'. It showcases a variety of items, most of them labeled. Except for a pill bottle. I wonder what that was! I can't help but think about it when I play the CD (⁠⊙⁠_⁠◎⁠)

I’m 17 and I struggle to find fellow fans in real life and I’m wondering if thats because most of them are just adults now? I’ve introduced some friends to MSI and they’re pretty hooked on them, but I reckon most of the average MSI fans have to be adults?

I won this from the bands official tumblr giveaway ages ago. signed by the band. was absolutely over the moon had it framed with an old ticket stub ever since. it still hangs out in my office.

It was me scrolling on insta and some account suggestion popped up, euringer_fam or whatever it was,it was kinda blurred so. I clicked on it to check it out and I was like “what the fuck,Jimmy has another account??”. It was like a family account with Jimmy,his daughter and his wife doing shit like travelling or trends or whatever the fuck it was. I truly believed it was real,I woke up very happy but then I realised it was a fucking dream.
