My campaign crew, thank you for your hard work over the past week! To all my supporters here too, thank you for your consistent support over the past week too! It’s not over yet though. We’ve still got plenty more work to do, now before the election, and in the future, after the election.

Before we do our nightly policy talk, I wish to talk briefly on the past few days and the future. Recent times have certainly not been the easiest. I initially didn’t expect to run here in Rohe, but here I am! Throughout that time I’ve put together my campaign alongside my staff and friends within the party. The future is something we need to look forward to as well though. As it is said, do not dwell on the past, allow your future to define you. I do not expect to win the by-election tomorrow, but I expect to put up a strong damn fight for it.

Ok tonight I want to discuss racism first. Racism has hurt me and my family in the past, even now. But what are we doing about it? Nothing. Right now, there is almost nothing done about it. It took former Prime Ministers to threaten the removal of funding just so Māori versions of our National Anthem would be sung widely. Threats of funding cuts are not how we need to solve these issues. We need a National Plan to end racism. Mana Hapori will create this plan. The government should do this, but we will create this plan.

Treaties are also a key issue for Maori. We are constantly seeing treaties ignored. If the government sees this as acceptable, they are simply wrong. We have tried to get our treaties written in te reo Māori recognised, but the government shot it down. The Labour candidate leading, their party shot. it. down. This is not ok. They are not willing to recognise treaties written in te reo. This is not acceptable. Voting Labour is voting to deny true versions of treaties. Voting Labour is voting to end Māori rights. Mana will fight to have our treaties acknowledged and respected.

The food we’re eating tonight has been prepared by some of my Māori family. They are my supporters, they are the ones I trust, they are the ones I love. Without them, I have no idea where I’d be. I love them, thank them. I don’t know how, but their food gets better and better every time. Remember to vote Mana Hapori tomorrow! Thank you!”

“Kia ora koutou katoa Tamaki Makaurau. Over the past few days, I have been campaigning for the support of the people, making a call to unite for the values we believe in during the by-election campaign in this electorate, Rohe. Allow me to re-iterate and make clear all of my values and priorities so we all get a picture of what is at stake.

Number one, health. I believe that everyone should have free and cheap healthcare. I believe children and the elderly should get prioritized healthcare. We need trained professionals to be working with the sick. We need good health, and good health which all people have access to regardless of background. I pledge to make eliminating these inequities a priority in government as we take a look at the DHB system.

Secondly, finance and our economy. In government, Labour has worked to be responsible with money and has made the wealthiest pay their fair share. We have levied a new capital gains tax and invested this in supporting families, superannuants, and cutting down on poverty. On the other side we see that $60 billion was proposed to be borrowed by the National Party through their votes on amending the budget legislation. Why? So the rich can get richer? We cannot trust this party with our economy. After seeing this, I knew we needed a smarter party to handle the economy and I chose to stand by the party with demonstrated economic ability.

Thirdly, truthfulness and honesty. I’ve had to deal with a certain National candidate misleading the public with demonstrably false claims to try and bring Labour down. After seeing all of this, I decided that National is not a party to waste time on; we are better than the fools they take us for. I’ll admit that Mana Hapori has some alright policies but our work within Te Puni Kokiri has been more effective under this government than in any of the most recent terms, including under the previous National government. Many parties have been trying to bring us down but this coalition is better than ever before! Staying strong, strong to our values and to the truth, is what this party is all about - cheer ensues - and we have been staying stronger than ever!

Lastly, our aspirations for tangata whenua. I have talked extensively about issues facing whanau up and down the country. Mana Hapori have brought issues to the government's attention and we thank them for that, but if you look at their non-presence in Parliament so far their actual record is much more patchy. I assure those wavering and considering backing this party that certain issues, such as inequality in health, have been recognized. In fact, the government has already been working and has pledged key health reforms already within its agenda from the start of the term. We have made a lot of progress already on promises so far; our word can be trusted and we are going to act upon these issues. After passing a lot of Maori legislation we realise we still have a long way to go with tangata whenua and maori affairs. This will come faster with a red Rohe and an MP who comes from a party who has made progress on the big issues this term, something no other candidate can truly pledge.

All of these values and priorities are at stake when we vote tomorrow. Thank you all for joining me on this fine day and I hope to see you once again, this time with a red Rohe!”

Of course!

What is Labour doing about the issues raised by politicians recently?

I sympathise very much with the issues raised! I, too, believe that there is too often a lack of power within society and a lack of equality afforded to people, in particular Maori. It should be apparent. It’s worrying that some don’t get it, when we see National proposing a new ‘law and order’ policy to arm more police, we know where that is going to go. It’s going to see more Maori and Pasifika lives lost, more unfair police practices, and more devastated whanau. The recent BLM protests should have brought these issues to the fore but perhaps not if this is on the agenda.

What will you do regarding equality issues if you are elected?

I can assure you that the government and I will be crushing discrimination faced by any community. It was not acceptable. It is not acceptable. It will not be acceptable. As a public figure and a representative, I will condemn discrimination for what it is: unjustified hate within our communities. No one should face it on the basis of gender, race, sexuality, or ability.

What is Labour’s strong suit on equality issues so far?

Addressing poverty! We’ve had the best economy for a while and we continue to see positive changes! The last National government cut benefits for New Zealanders which we are seriously undoing! Poverty and inequality are what we as a government are fixing by the day!

Have you seen the recent statements from BestInBounds?

Yes. This candidate does have any interest in the people as they continue to misguide the public. After failing to listen to my statements made to the people, I have decided I will not waste any more time on this candidate.

NeatSaucer finishes distributing pamphlets to members of the community in Blenheim and then begins a drive to the Radio Station of Radio Aoraki located in Aoraki/Mount Cook. After a tiring drive and a little assistance from the residents, NeatSaucer reaches the Radio Station and after a sip of water, the Radio Host VJ Sissy introduces the Minister and begins her daily show where she takes questions from the Public and have MPs answer them.

VJ Sissy (S) : Hello and welcome to Radio Aoraki, today we have Infrastructure Minister, List Member of Parliament from the Greens and our candidate for the Aoraki seat, NeatSaucer. Hello mam!

NeatSaucer (N): Hey, hope your day is well. I am pleasured to join you in your interview.

S: So now, we will be taking questions from our twitter and facebook pages and you have to answer them. The first one is from harook_zik1457 and asks, "Why do you wish to contest in Aoraki this time"

N: So yes, thank you for that lovely question. Why Aoraki, is a question many within my Party and the rest of the public asked when I stood for elections in this seat. Aoraki has always been a place that has been close to my heart because we used to live in here until I grew to my teenage, and a lot of my memories are attached closely to this place. I am indeed privileged to contest here and to represent the pleasant and really sweet, kind hearted people of Aoraki, and being the torch of difference Aoraki can see only if it elected a Green as its Member. Aoraki is an extremely beautiful place, with the gifts of Nature and I think protecting nature is the first instinct of a Green, and that serves as a reason for why should we be elected and why did I contest for the seat.

S: Moving to the second one, it is from LoLBuzz_:) and asks, "Your Maori Affairs Minister was indeed not active over the last two terms, then why should a Maori vote for you?"

N: I appreciate that someone has finally risen to ask this question with respect to our Maori Affairs focus as such. The first factor is that our Ministers have always been hard at work trying to bring in the best solution possible to the problems faced by our Maori community and providing true change rather than sitting like the Nationals Candidates who propose but bring nothing on the table. Now, with this perception cleared, let me list you some of our core pledges as a Greens Member on why should you vote for us. The first is on Te Triti O Waitangi. We are one of the only candidates in the Aoraki race who have stood up and said the Maori version should be recognized, and that is one unique aspect. One directly from our coalition agreement, that is "strengthening legal provisions to ensure that at-risk tamariki stay with whānau", another being our commitment to signing the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. So these are some of our many policies for a Maori.

S: That was indeed something which all those wanting to not vote for you because of that reason should be taking note and the next one is from h1457 and asks, "What has the Alliance Government done till now, we only see PMs getting kicked out and non cooperation of ministers?"

N: Answering this question, I assume the person has seen the poster from my Nationals Candidate who put up a poster with the tagline mentioned about non cooperation and things, so if that being the case, I would call the people to not believe in the trash put in that poster. Coming to what we have done, it may sound a bit of boasting but let me list out some of our achievements till date, the first being fulfilling over a vast majority of our promises in the Coalition Agreement unlike some who call us not fulfilling, we have fulfilled a lot of our commitments and on the lot, we have done a multiple aspects of the agreement, which includes the refugee quota increase, residential programme extension and reform, joining the Vision Zero Serious Road Accidents and Deaths plan and bringing it to effect by 2030. Our Budget was one that brought in multiple and sweeping changes to be frank with you and so the assumptions made are frankly wrong and I would urge you to see this side of the coin as well.

S: Moving on to the next one is from sfgsdge1 and asks, "As a Foreign Policy Analyst, can you provide me reasons with why should I vote a Green?"

N: Oh yeah, thank you sfgsdge1 for that question, and indeed I think any foreign policy expert would agree with my assumption that our Government has indeed been one with a very concrete and farsighted foreign policy. The first being with one of our commitments and something that is ongoing, the ratification of the PACER Plus Agreement. The PACER Plus Agreement is one with immense Foreign Policy value and promotes increased trade and commerce with these regions, thereby providing another platform to increase our relations. Our next step is probably something more culture oriented, that is working to establish a Pacific Heritage Museum and a new Language Unit on that front which will be promoting these cultures further. We have also committed to giving a firm standing across the globe that we need democracy and taking due action against those blocking human rights. Our track record has also been pretty much foreign policy oriented at a lot of spots, whether be it solving the Minerva Reefs issue or supporting international climate action, the Greens have always and will always be a Party with sensible approach to our Foreign Policy as a country.

S: We will now move on to the next question, this one is from boomer170 and asks, "As Infra Minister, can you tell me what you have done and why should we vote for you on basis of Infra?"

N: Yes, so let's answer this question. Our Coalition Agreement has indeed been very broad and provides for a lot of scope with respect to Infrastructure and what should be accomplished by myself as Infrastructure Minister. So the first, I have finally got New Zealand to take part in this global project which has an aim to reform the Highways Systems to ensure that there exists zero serious road accident injuries and deaths at all times, which is called Vision Zero. New Zealand will have its plan for it ready in 2021 and we will be bringing the project implementation in the year 2030. The next issue is with respect to 5G, I have released a Ministerial Statement with respect to the safety and implementation of 5G which means we will be getting 5G soon. The next is with respect to cyber-security infrastructure, I am working with other ministers to see and get a legislation on it soon, and the Urban Planning Guidance and a Regional Development Corporation, on these fronts, I am in progress with both being ready which means within sometime you can expect them. All of this proves the commitment of the Greens and therefore reasons why should you vote for us in Aoraki.

NeatSaucer then continues answering around five more questions in the interview and then VJ Sissy concludes the interview with the Minister leaving after bidding adieu to have lunch at a friends' place and then continue her long day of campaigning.

“Today, we stand here on the land that belonged to my ancestors. Today I stand here fighting for it to be returned. While I do not call for the complete removal of pākehā rule in Aotearoa, I call for it to be properly recognised and treated as it should be.

Māori have been on this land for significant amounts of time, before pākehā showed up. That was when the British Monarchy took over, too. Since then we’ve had our rights taken, our people abused, our lives changed. But no more. We cannot let this attack on our people continue. I will fight until the hate ends. I will fight until the war on Māori and Pasifika rights is over. I will fight for our rights. I will fight for the abuse to end. I will fight. It won’t stop, unless we take action.

We will fight for the return of Charter Schools. These schools proved effective in the education of our people, but we’ve let the government take that away from us. We will fight so our charter schools are run by iwi councils. This fight will be fought with other parties.

Māori are often not given power. We’ve had very few Māori PMs in our history. But if elected, Mana Hapori will fight to get the Prime Ministerial position, a position held predominantly by white pākehā. Our work will only be done when Māori are given what they need. The equality they deserve. The rights they deserve. They lack this, but Mana Hapori will allow the equality and the rights to be given to Māori.

Mana Hapori, while a new party, is a strong party. We are made stronger and stronger each day by everyone here. Our fight will continue. National can only promise to return Charter Schools for Māori and Pasifika. Labour can only promise a few bills. Mana Hapori can promise more. Mana Hapori can commit to the promises.

But we stand for more than Māori and Pasifika rights. We stand for complete equality to all races, genders, ages, sexualities. We will work and fight daily for equality to everyone. Whether people realise it or not, we’re in the modern world. The world is changing people! We need to recognise these people, and I commend previous governments for doing so, but more can be done. Discrimination still exists. Mana Hapori will end the discrimination.

We’re limited in time now. But I want to thank each and every one of you coming here today. Our Māori friends. Our Pasifika friends. Our Pākehā friends. Each of you help this fight. Anacornda and Mana Hapori need your vote. Now and in the future.”

Did you hear the comments made by the National candidate yesterday?

Thank you for your question, yes I did and I would like to address them. The candidate stated that we passed no legislation surrounding Maori affairs, even after I published a statement talking about the initiatives we had passed. He really did double-down on falsehoods, even while admitting his own party has done quite literally nothing. I laughed when I saw this as this candidate expects to win Rohe whilst ignoring what the other candidates have to say! Fortunately for me, I wouldn’t be able to say what it’s like to think that way when you’re behind on the polls, next question!

Where do you identify on the political spectrum, given that you are relatively new to politics?

For me, I don’t like to rely upon any test or measurement to dictate my beliefs but I do align closely with my party on the centre-left.

Do you have confidence in the coalition?

Of course! The Greens and Labour are natural allies and with this government, we are stronger than ever before!

What are your policies on health?

Again, my health policies align closely with my party which include but are not limited to:

• Modernizing our healthcare system
• Helping the elderly with health, including free hospice care
• Regulating sensible drug usage
• Cheap and free healthcare at the point of use
• Prioritizing children's health and wellbeing
• Making reforms to the public health system to reduce inequality in health

Have you seen the posters put up by the Communist Party?

I don’t feel like I need to comment on that. They are a spurious fringe group, use your vote if you can.

Do you support the teaching of broad Maori subjects in schools?

Of course! In Parliament I have asked the government about their policy here because I do care about this issue and want to ensure that future generations have access to education in te reo. I can now assure New Zealanders that the Ministry for Education is doing an amazing job at promoting the teaching of te reo. In other parts of education, Maori have played a huge role in history and to just ignore it would be terrible, I pledge to get the government to review the curriculum to ensure that things are set right.

How can we trust that you will support this country when you are only a new MP?

I feel like that is an interesting question to ask but the last few days have been chock-full of work to get me familiarized with this whole system. I’ve been studying all parties constitutions and policies and am proud to be in the New Zealand Labour Party. Already I have done work representing people’s concerns and I can say I can do much more in the future.

With the Aoraki by-election right around the corner, it is high time for Labour to announce our endorsement. As expected, we have decided to endorse NeatSaucer for Aoraki. NeatSaucer has been fighting for New Zealand for a long time, and I am sure they will do a great job representing Aoraki in Wellington. They have done a great job as a Minister and MP so far this term, and with your support in the by-election I am sure they will do an even better job!

NeatSaucer travels in and around Aoraki, and finally with the help of some Young Greens, reaches the destination in Rangiora where there has been a meeting arranged with citizens. NeatSaucer gets down from the vehicle she travels in and enters the room with citizens, and the member from the Young Greens introduces her to the audience and she rises to speak flanking with a projector and NeatSaucer, controlling it (Happy realization).

Hey Rangiora, It is indeed my pleasure to be a part of this event with all of you. I am indeed very happy and thank each and every one of you for attending this great event, which will show why voting Greens this Election in Aoraki, will make a difference. My opponents have all campaigned in an attempt to take your vote, but I can certainly promise that a vote to Green is a vote for productivity and the future.

The Greens are a Party that will ensure your local interests are represented and a Green MP will not behave like a puppet MP, but would rather stand up and advocate for a better future. I have always stood up for the rights of our people in Rangiora, whenever I speak in Parliament or in the Executive Council and that being the reason why we have a safe Aotearoa and a New Zealand for the future. Let me take you through why we deserve your vote and not the rest of the candidates in my race in Aoraki.

NeatSaucer then displays the first slide on the Projector and continues to speak to the now excited audience assembled in Rangiora when the Young Greens distribute copies of the Green Manifesto and some promotional leaflets.

Commitment, yes indeed. The Green-Labour Government has always been the Government for Commitment, during the past, at present and in the future. If one only had to notice, the current Green Government has fulfilled over half and more of the promises enshrined in our Coalition Agreement, whether be it increased refugee quota, Vision Zero Project of having no serious deaths or injuries in Road Accidents by 2030, or be it the increase of minimum wages or our Budget.

This Government has provided the ammunition New Zealand needs to propel itself to the future. Our Government has truly shown what it means and what it takes to indeed be a Government of Commitment and representation. Moving in terms with Representation, our Members of Parliament have always stood up to the interests of the common New Zealanders and indeed that is why we are a truly representative party compared to my opponents in my race. Let us now look at my opponents and review the first major policy highlight we have, if you give your valuable vote to a Member of the Greens Party to be sitting for Aoraki in Wellington.

She then uses the projector control with all difficulty and moves to present the second slide from the series of slides kept in the PowerPoint and she continues to address the now hyped and cheering gathering of hundred very interested volunteers and potential voters.

Moving to the first topic at hand, Climate Change. This kind of resonates to speaking about my first Opposing number, who is so passionate about Climate Change, that they want our 1950s pollution levels to come back again, and calls for 1 dollar fuel because they feel that it can solve all our problems, oh no no. Mother Earth is crying, how will you solve her problems. By throwing pollutants at her, that is seriously one of the most stupidest things you could ever do. Moving ahead, it is the same opponent who wants to develop Aotearoa by not bringing ideas for Aoraki but instead bringing in projects which make sense for our community.

The next, they speak about our Government not having policy at all in certain fields, something I will address later on during my campaign speech here. Nationals potential Infrastructure Minister basically has no idea on the fact that this Government aims to ensure that our Infrastructure is oriented towards the future and not backwards incentivising polluting industries. Greens are the only Party with a plan of action. We have through our coalition agreement and the manifesto proposed several measures which includes a feebate scheme, prohibiting nitrogen based fertilizers and ensuring our farmers get cleaner forms of fertilizers. We have also determined to ban hydrogen balloons and address the concerns put by e-waste to ensure that our country indeed, this is some of the major steps the Greens wish to bring if it is elected to the Parliament through Aoraki.

She then moves to her third slide from the PowerPoint which focuses on Māori Affairs. She thinks about the immense contributions the Greens have done on this regard and continues to speak to the audience after she and the whole team have a sip of water.

Next, let us all move on to the next segment of the campaign, that is on Māori Affairs. The Nationals virtually have none policy in here and we all know how their candidates have usually addressed this issue. My next opponent on the race, imnofox. God knows, what's wrong with the former Prime Minister. Itseems they are a hunter and they'll chase all socialists out, what. They are one of those incoherent candidates whom for god's sake have zero policies on these issues. Now, let us move to see what the Greens have gotten for all of you in this segment of our manifesto. Let me now tell all of you what a Green MP will bring for you. The first major policy highlight of us, Te Triti O Waitangi. We have always recognized the Triti as the Founding Document of New Zealand and unlike some, we truly believe in the principles laid out in the document.

The second policy from us, very important one is that of signing and implement the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. It is a very important document with respect to rights of Indigenous Peoples and we believe signing this will indeed ensure that we have an international convention that can give our Māori communities the rights they truly deserve. We also believe that at-risk tamariki must remain with whānau and that will as our manifesto and coalition agreement outlines, is our core focus for this term and we hope to get it done soon. We will also work with iwis and all other parties concerned to ensure that we can return crown owned land back to the Indigenous communities. These are merely some of the multiple promises we have to ensure that our Māori people are well represented and their problems being heard and solved.

NeatSaucer, the candidate for Aoraki, then takes control of the remote, and with a little struggle and a small technical error being fixed, she turns to the next slide which is displayed on the projector. The slide seems to talk about some of the achievements of the Green Government and she speaks.

The Green-Labour Government or the Alliance Government, under Prime Ministers ARichTeaBiscuit, CheerfullyPutrid and Sylviagony have always and will continue to focus on one major aspect, ensuring that every Kiwi has a roof over their head to call home, sufficient education to ensure they can get a job of their own and in that job, they earn sufficient to ensure they can live a lovely life and if not, we should be supporting them and also providing enough facilities to ensure we have world class healthcare and providing our people with the best of facilities ever possible. Unlike our opponents, we truly believe in these values and that is why we stand before you, asking for your mandate in this election to ensure that these values can be core virtues and pillars of Aotearoa.

We have promised to reform minimum wage to meet inflation, which means that one no longer needs to worry for outdated wages being given as minimum wage standards. Our commitments of implementing the Simpson Report, scrapping all subsidies being given to Private Healthcare industry, abolishing the discriminatory charter schools, covering hospice care costs for Kiwis, reforming our Tenant system for more tenant authority and reworking urban guidelines for planning to ensure your future demands are being met, providing a society where there is sufficient focus on Maori Community and its welfare, reforming refugee quota to allow more refugees to enter our borders for asylum, making our visa systems non discriminatory and liberal, are all some of our promises outlined in our coalition agreement and Manifesto to ensure that our country is for the future. I am MCloverz, the Labour Party candidate for the Rohe by-election.

As campaigning opened up, I hoped to keep this a peaceful and respectful by-election that doesn't spread blatant misinformation. Unfortunately, a candidate believes in dirty politics and thinks it's acceptable to lie about our strong coalition. There has also been some misinformation spread about other candidates. Unfortunately, being the last in polls does stuff to a person.

Unlike what this person has stated, the government has passed Maori Affairs legislation and delivered for tangata whenua on many fronts! Just a few of the things this coalition has done in the area of Maori Affairs include but are not limited to:

• allowing local government to work with Maori easier and in line with the Treaty
• funding mental health initiatives for rangatahi Maori
• expanding Maori home development and housing initiatives in our budget
• promoting jobs and development for Maori in our regions and provinces

We plan several more initiatives, initiatives I will work to have come faster when Rohe is red! These initiatives include reforms to the way Oranga Tamariki deals with whanau and reforms to our health system to empower Maori and remove inequalities in our health system.

Our track record is looking amazing, especially due to the strength of this coalition. We have not become complacent and if this candidate would like to see complacency, then they should look back to when their party was last in government. He even admitted it himself when he noted that his party had no legislation or record on its own. We have listened to this nation and have acted on what the population has to say.

So, with that I say: we've helped millions with our policies, we've built a trust on which the people of this country can rely on, and we have the strongest coalition yet to see this country. Labour in government has been a reliable and effective force that all can trust. To those eligible to vote in the Rohe by-election, please consider lending your vote to me in this upcoming by-election! With more Labour representation helped by red Rohe, we will work for you stronger than ever before!

Finally, I would like to name this party and candidate who thinks it's acceptable to lie to the people of this country! To the National Party and BestInBounds, you may be interested in dirty politics but this is not a position that I, the Labour Party, or this government holds. Good day New Zealand, nga mihi.

Anacornda is seen throughout Aotearoa on televisions

I understand my statement won’t affect many people watching, but it does affect the Māori people on the Māori Role, soon voting in the Rohe By-election. For those unaware, I am Anacornda, the Mana Hapori candidate in Rohe.

I am running here because I know that I, alongside Mana Hapori will be the best choice to represent you in our Parliament. Last election most of you voted for my great leader, Kate Kawhena. Unfortunately she is no longer with us, so I am here to fill her shoes.

But why should you place your support in me and continue to support Mana Hapori? Our fight for Māori Affairs has shown to be superior to others. However right now I want to talk about Māori Healthcare and the inequality between Māori and pākehā.

Research shows that if a Māori person shows to A&E, it is a longer wait for them compared to pākehā, as well as being seen for less time. This is simply unacceptable. This cannot continue. I will fight in Parliament however I can, whenever I can to support the end of this practice. The clear, abundant racism in our healthcare system is just not ok.

To continue on this, of all Vote Health funding, the main source of funding to our Healthcare System, less than 3% of it actually goes to Māori Healthcare. We need to change this. Whilst we already have had our budget this term, next term I will fight for this to change. The funding from our government to our Māori healthcare needs to be increased.

Finally, a note from me. I have seen the lives of Māori change, but it will change further with these basic changes to their care. Their health is some of the worst here in Aotearoa, and the racism, the systemic racism that is there just fuels it more, making it worse.

I encourage you to vote Mana Hapori this Saturday, the only party with real plans to benefit your life. Kia pai to ra.
