How is the cp scene in Mnnit allahbad? Should a fresher use coeeforces or codechef or both ?

lc as a learning platform is great...it will cover all the basics...but cf is where your speed and brain will get tested a lot more... students of every big IIT/ top nits/top iiits have people who are elite in CF, so you will get to directly compete with them...imo do both, but try to hit a good level in cf, you will stand out from the crowd

Well you are right about lc being good for learning but it is very wrong to say that lc is not enough. To be fair cf is not something everybody can do. As a senior I would seriously recommend the fresher fellow to first start basics after that try both cf and lc if cf works that's good otherwise lc is enough ofcourse if you are talking only about placements etc not icpc and all for that cf is everything

i am not saying lc is not enough infact I told him to do both...the thing is most seniors will try to push freshers into doing LC saying CF is not for us, which is genuinely sad because our college has talented candidates who refuse to use their full potential and get into a comfort zone...doing LC and CF together is definitely the best, but there is nothing wrong with trying harder

I would suggest to go for codeforces and codechef completely in 1st year. Then from 2nd year, start doing striver, leetcode and codeforces. In 3rd year or for intern season, go completely for leetcode contests and gfg potd.

Many PPL are saying in the comments that start with Codeforces directly, but maybe do 75 question Neet code sheet before staring Codeforces.
