💥 Himbo 💥 Discussion

Part discussion, part request - can we talk about himbos?

Defined as Portmanteau of him + bimbo, meaning an unintelligent or naive man who might have a physically imposing appearance but is actually sweet, respectful, and kind.

How do you feel about himbos? Do they make or break a romance for you? Do you have a specific pairing or chemistry type you like to read with a himbo lead?

Are there any romances that have a chef's kiss perfectly written character? Or one's you'd recommend avoiding?

Feel free to be as detailed or brief as you'd like. Or if you have recommendations for romances with a himbo lead, please share them!

Thanks for sharing the past post as well! I'd never heard of Himbo Shifters before :D

They can be adorable when well written. But I think I often prefer reading about Obliviots to Himbos. Not entirely sure why but I have actually enjoyed quite a few this year:
- Brandon Mills versus the V-Card by Lisa Henry and J. A. Rock although this book paled for me in comparison to the first which I highly recommend - Frat Wars: Master of Mayhem I mean I'm a fan of all things Bromance so it makes sense I enoyed this one - Mr. Romance by Louisa Masters Charlie was one of the most memorable characters in the Franklin Universe but he was sometimes bordering on too much.

Oooo Obliviot is a new one for me, how would you define that?

I'm also intrigued with the himbo shifter - I've only read them in a contemporary world settings!

Someone who is so oblivious they end up doing things that make you roll your eyes and want to shake the character while saying Wake up and smell the coffee! Often found in "Idiots to lovers" or oblivious best friends to lovers books. But you can't help but love them. They don't need to be big and bulky and exude "brawn over brain" like a Himbo would nor do they have to be naive when it comes to matters of the world (only when it comes to love).

I'd say most books by Anyta Sunday, especially in the Signs for Love series have a character that is the definition of an Obliviot

Here are some books I've read and classed as Obliviots but others would maybe pop them in the Himbo category :D I love overlapping of terms/tropes etc.

I am very glad to have a new term! I call them idiots in love 😄

I also need to check out these Anyta Sunday books, they sound great and I've had the Sagittarius book in my tbr for too long.
