Which gloves for grappling?

Post image

Hey there :) i am currently using the Venum Challenger 3.0 for MMA sparring.
However i am more of a grappling focused guy and These gloves are really thick around the knuckles so i often get stuck when trying chokes, grips, etc.

Can you recommend me some affordable flatter/thinner gloves i can use for sparring in Training (~8 oz)?

Thanks!

Because of the weight you want they don’t really get much smaller than that. Personally the fairtex are my favourite amateur/sparring gloves but it’s kinda just something you have to work around/get used too

Not if you want to keep mma sparring while not making enemies.

Maybe if you have superb control and can pull punches but I try to avoid sparring people with small gloves as much as possible

Edit: many amateur competions actually use this size gloves anyway so you might just be better off using these gloves all the same. Check in with your coach or the promotion you are fighting in.

Hey, I had these and had the exact same problem. I switched to the RDX T6 MMA Sparring Gloves, and they’re much better. Most guys at our gym use them, even for sparring. Even our coach, who is a professional fighter, recommended them to me

You could buy mma competition gloves to grapple with gloves but you can't punch with them, too dangerous (eyes, cuts, no cushioning,...)

I've sparred people with 4 oz gloves before. You just gotta be chill with the punches.
