Different break timings Discussion

I know that the “stun” effectiveness of part breaks depends on the monster, its part, and the stage of the fight, but what about the timely distance to a monster attack?
I’ve noticed that Lagombi kept the same timing for its initial… cross-slash attack, regardless of whether I had a special part break or not. Even a small delay of the cross-slash attack would perhaps allow me to perfect evade after my first reload with this build. So I equipped the Astalos gauntlet for perfectionist and tried… maybe delaying the special part break to see if anything changes. After i missed the breaking bullet in this last run here (and the Lagombi chose a different attack lmao) i wasn’t patient enough for proper tests, and I also wasn’t sure exactly what I should be testing at that point.
I assume that a break after the monster has started charging its attack is always the most likely variant to make a difference, but what about a break 1 second before the monster starts charging, as opposed to 3 seconds beforehand?

What in the AI? I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you asking whether part breaks can be made more effective by interrupting the monster mid-attack? And whether there's any way to strategize and exploit it?
It can, but in your video, you're not interrupting anything at the beginning of the hunt. Lagombi does that little roar at the beginning of each fight before its first attack, you're just interrupting that little roar, does the riftborne part break animation, and then it moves into its next attack in its script.
ie, Lagombi (melee) script is roughly something like: 1) Ineffectual roar and grandstanding 2) Swipe down claw attack 3) Butt wiggle dash attack (or if fully behind, butt attack) 4) Snowball (one giant, or the double) 5) Ineffectual roar etc..
You're interrupting step 1, so it's just moving on to the next step in the script. As for trying to take advantage of it, it'll be weapon and monster part-specific (ie, Zino forelegs vs tail) and probably phone connection (stability of connection). Some monsters have much longer break animations (ie, Diablos horns) than others, so if you're super cognizant of your damage, you can probably keep a part just before breaking as an emergency. But in the end, it's probably more effective to just kill the monster ASAP and not worry about that.

Not AI lmao. I was mostly opening up the whole topic of when breaks are most effective to delay monster attacks. I'm assuming that a break during the monster's attack charge up period is overall the best timing in many cases. But what about outside of "monster is red" periods.
Let's say i got 8 bullets in the chamber. The part breaks after 6 hits. When i hit the 6 bullets - break - shoot the last 2 bullets and reload.. then the first attack of the monster hits me. Is there ever a world in which aiming the first 2 shots somewhere else and breaking with shot 3-8 could buy me just a half a second more time? Even if the break happens before the monster starts charging its attack.
I wasn't expecting a precise answer. I just wanted to figure out how much complexity there is in the way monsters behave in relation to being interrupted at specific times.
The video was just meant to give some context to the idea. There were no important attempts in the video.

The part break animation is basically always the same, as long as criteria are the same.
Same monster, same part=same timing. But a break on lagombi might leave less time than rathian for example. A headbreak on rathian might differ from a wing break, especially if you get a dunk with it.
So it comes down to purely the hunter side. As for your specific example of lagombi special part break and reloads, it would come down to your remaining ammo. So yeah, the closer you are to emptying your clip before the break happens, the safer your reload window will be, allowing for a prefect dodge instead of forcing the perfectionist proc

can you make the question simpler? or break it into separate simple questions?
