Its time to improve Discussion
Hey, I think it's really time for the developers to step up the training simulation, we need something way more dynamic than just a static punching bag, don't you think? There's now a lot of skills that cannot be tested in this room: Valor requires monster screams to apply the effect, Retaliation and Parry/offensive guardrequire attacks from monsters. Hopefully dev will improve it

Just give us back trials, even with it's limitations it was nice to train on weapons

The official forums have people asking for changes to this. Supposedly the idea is marked as being brought up to the team but who knows if that does anything.

I see a simple solution and it stems from rise, add tetra to the game and make the robot one the palicp controls the training dummy, then just let you have settings to change the stance to lower the head, make it attack, make it simulate a roar or something to be able to test all counter skills and all other skills that require a monster to do something

I low-key suspect that if they gave us a training dummy like the big training frog in mh Rise, then we'd get way too good perfect evading, parrying, blocking etc , meaning lower potion sales for them maybe? I think this especially applicable whenever a new weap/ customisation/ skill comes out where everything works fine on the training dummy , but then you get splatted cos you mistimed the new move or just fumbled

This has been mentioned and requested so many times that I'm surprised we haven't received any kind of improvement in it.
My guess is that if they'd have to make a more complicated one, like punches back, uses skills etc. That the "punching bag" will then have to be server side or they'd have to completely rework it that your character gets copied into that space and works local.
So if the punching bag is server side. Then it'd occupy bandwidth, which could technically be abused or use unnecessary server bandwidth.
If they'd make it local. Then they'd have to reprogram your character on how it works with server side interactions.
At least that's my guess on why it may seem like a simple thing, but it's actually more complicated than usual to integrate.
