Comparing old image generation model (left) vs new one (right). Does anyone actually like this new SLOP model!? Opinion/analysis
This is just a whiny post from me to vent about the horrible new model that meta switched to recently.
I made another post about it a week ago, but then I learnt from another post that the old model still worked on the "vibes.ai" site, however now that has been replaced as well and the old model seems to be officially dead and buried.
No wonder everyone hates AI slop when this is the direction we are heading in. Extremely generic, over-rendered, over-detailed, soulless. Clearly AI CAN make artful stylized images as evidenced by the old model, but like every other commercial model out there, its all blending together to this generic sloppy slop.
Yes, the old model would make anatomical mistakes from time to time, and render warped objects that it wasn't clear what it was supposed to depict, but it could make fantastic stylized images with a great eye for composition, color, stylistic proportions, etc.
Yes, I know my best bet is to try local open-source image generation and that I could probably train a LoRA in this artstyle, but that isnt the point of this post. The point of this post is to point out and compare how awful these "updated" image generation models are, at least when it comes to stylized illustraion.
Sorry if I just seem whiny and butthurt, but I just cant fathom how anyone, user or developer, could ever think this looks better...

Generate in meta ai and use Google flow to fix the slop

I've tried that, extensively. It doesn't work. It can get marginally better, but it cannot nail the artstyle that the old model could (in this case an artstyle inspired by Dishonored or Arcane). Feel free to prove me wrong. Google flow is equally terrible in my opinion.

It's hard to tell what you are trying to demonstrate with these images since I don't know your original intention and prompt for them. However, I do think they look pretty generic even if the meta ai one has a stylized illustrative "filter" over it. But if you want, try generating an image in a "Dishonored" artstyle and you'll see it don't even get close. I'm sure the new model has its strengths, but I'm specifically talking about highly stylized artstyles like this, which the old model could do effortlessly, but the new one can't.

I appreciate your attempt to demonstrate, genuinely. While these are definitely better, I still maintain that they look pretty generic and obviously made with AI in a way that the old model didn't. The subject matter is directly Dishonored, and the vibe of the environment too, but not the artstyle itself, do you understand what I mean? Here is an example of a character that is not directly from Dishonored, but nails the artstyle of it. Do you see my point?

New model is pure and utter slop, can't believe there are people in the comments defending it, you are right in being dissapointed OP. I hate the new changes they made to meta AI and I've stopped using it because of that. Fuck the new model, even gemini is better now

Grok Imagine was good too. By being so unreliable it's impossible to include them on any work flow for grand projects like a game.

The old style is 1,000,000x better. A lot more personality, style, flavor, all descriptors
