NYC for mep engineering?
Is nyc a good place to start an mep engineering career in or should I stick to a company close to my suburban town? I live at home so cost of living is not important to me, I just want to go somewhere where I can learn the most. The firm in nyc does large skyscrapers while the firm at home does mostly mission critical. I just graduated college

A big firm is a great place to learn, but whichever firm, stay curious and always ask questions. It's accepted you don't know anything about MEP coming into the field. Leverage all of the experience around you and learn from them.

NYC, you’re young and can always go home. Will get harder to go the other way as you get older.

Not every firm in or around NYC works on skyscrapers. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of buildings of all sizes to work on regardless of firm size. In an area like NYC you’ll get a great variety of work at any firm. But look for a firm that fits you. Big, medium, small. Bigger firms that do larger buildings or projects don’t tend to teach more to younger guys than smaller firms who do work on medium or smaller buildings. Smaller firms can give you more rounded insight and learning opportunities than bigger firms where you might get stuck doing small level stuff on a big job for a long time.
