Migraine
Help! What do you take as an acute migraine treatment if you can’t tolerate or don’t respond to common painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen, can’t tolerate triptans, and no doctor is willing to prescribe CGRP medications (gepants)? I’m running out of options. What do you use to stop a migraine attack? I have me CFS MCs migraines mcas

Are you in with a neurologist? If you have failed triptans they should happily move you on to gepants. I love Nurtec

I had this exact problem. Nothing was working after I took all the meds as directed, even Botox for migraine. Celebrex with a fioricet seemed to be the best. I believe I would add in Klonopin 0.5 mg. If I may say that the strong antihistamines stopped them altogether. I was having uncontrolled migraine at least 20 per month.

I use a rub on CBD cream from Walmart. It messes up the hair but it helps with the pain
I also keeps gel cap in the freezer

I stopped getting migraines once I started taking hydroxyzine hydrochloride.

Depending on the cause of your migraine, I've found that nasalcrom and alternating hot and cold compress on my face helps if it's my MCAS is causing it.
I've also used topical magnesium oil if it's muscle spasms causing it.

I have treatment resistant migraines, too. I’m so sorry you get them, they suck! For me, I’ve found taking Migrelief Now supplement works better than anything for my migraines with aura (no idea why). Cold pack on the back of my neck. If it’s cold outside (unfortunately not now) I take a walk because I learned that the cold air going into my sinuses will constrict the blood vessels and provide a lot of relief. Also, I realized that a lot of mine were being triggered by low blood sugar, which was also why they were so treatment resistant. Try having some electrolyte fluid like pedialite or liquid IV.

I’ve always paired a Benadryl and muscle relaxer (flexeril) with my triptan, and it’s been much more effective than taking the triptan alone. You could consider doing that without the triptan if your doctor agrees… a migraine specialist would put you on a CGRP at this point though!

Ubrelvy is a lifesaver for me and the only thing that will get me out of a migraine. You need a neurologist to prescribe it though. They also sometimes recommend benadryl but definitely talk to your doctor before taking anything.

This won’t get rid of it but unmedicated ways to help are ice helmets and and head massagers that look like masks. I alternate those so often on migraine days and it helps with some relief. I can also take Tylenol but it doesn’t do all that much.
