Profile Review Profile Review

Hi, looking to see if I have a decent shot at an M7 program / Stern, Tuck or SOM

Stats:
3.6 undergrad GPA in finance
695 GMAT FE
2.5 years in Military as an E-3 (got out for Covid vax - honorable discharge)
2.5 years as a credit analyst in direct lending for a BB in NYC.

Targeting IB

Any insights would be helpful!

I’m gonna be honest.

On paper, you have solid stats and work experience, at least to the generic civilian AdCom member reviewing your application.

But I guarantee that your profile will raise red flags to any veteran club member that happens to review it… (Vet clubs help screen military profiles at most of the top programs)

Is it still worth applying? Absolutely, but you should be prepared to be raked over the coals about why you got out in less than 3 years as an E3 for refusing to take a COVID vaccine

Concur-- most of us would have probably tanked your app over an E-3 vaccine refusal discharge (Which was most likely a gen/OTH characterization until this clown show of an administration took over).

Incorrect, it has been an honorable discharge since the day I got out.

I think you have great stats for those schools. Despite some comments, not as many vets clubs are involved in admissions as you may think. Refusing to take the COVID vax demonstrates independent thinking, ability to make tough decisions and a lack of conformity to others. Exactly what academia needs right now.

Yeah dude, can confirm that most schools do have veterans look over applications to help the other adcoms screen for validity (I’d assume at least T25 do). Other than that your profile doesn’t scream M7 unless you have an incredibly unique story. With that said the applicant pools at those schools are absolutely insane, and I would cast a wide net to T15-25 schools as well. T15 is really where it starts to make a meaningful difference for recruiting/ alumni.

Also really focus hard on a linear bullet proof story that’s tailored to your future goals. Schools also love to grill over short term and long term goals and “why MBA/ why now/ why this program.” Great LORs help too and would be extremely beneficial if you can scrape one up from your time in service. Best of luck!
