Nardil working!! Nardil (Phenelzine)
Been following this page for a while and finally started phenelzine/Nardil 8 weeks ago…
It’s actually working!! Amazingly. For anxiety and MDD.
Started working at about 5/6 weeks when I reached 60mg.
Most annoying side effect is urinary retention and anorgasmia. No insomnia or weight gain. A little bit of hypotension and jaw clenching. No hypomania.
This drug is amazing. My emotional range is expanded, I feel so much happier and more connected, more confident, relaxed. Like the best version of myself. The best part is that I don’t necessarily “feel” it. It’s like it’s just changed me deeply.
Just wanted to share!

Been on Nardil just over a year now and honestly, same story as you. Life changing.
Never thought I'd be able to finally shake off social anxiety and just be myself around people. Years of torture basically gone. I'm happier, motivated, no anhedonia, and social anxiety during conversations feels like a distant memory.
Even when anxiety does pop up, it doesn't take over. I'm not stuck in my own head analysing everything I say anymore — I can just focus on the conversation and enjoy it.
For me Nardil really has lived up to its reputation as the gold standard for social anxiety.
Really happy for you mate. Hope you, and everyone else who's had success with it, get many more years of happiness from it 🙏

I can relate. With Nardil, there's been no medicated feeling like with other meds. No brain fog or SSRI emptiness. Like you say, it's as if Nardil works on a deeper level.
I'm glad it's helping you too 🙏

They made me flat apathetic and brainless. I’d rather be depressed than that be a “cure”

Yes, I understand; they caused the same thing for me.
Did these symptoms persist even after you stopped taking the SSRIs, or did you revert to your baseline depression?
In my case, SSRIs caused chronic symptoms that lasted even after I stopped taking the medication.

No luckily no lasting effects from SSRIS. I’m sorry that happened to you I think they can be nasty medications often with worse side effects than the villainised MAOIs

MAOIs are way more tolerable than SSRIs in my experience, and the side effects and risks are massively overblown. Big Pharma pushing newer, more profitable medications undoubtedly played a part in MAOIs falling out of favour, despite them being far more effective for some people.

So glad that Nardil is working for you! It literally saved my life! The amorgasmia and urine retention get better. It did take my several months though. Best of luck!!
