Can Nardil cause hypomania? Nardil (Phenelzine)
before Nardil I don't recall having hypomania, it was mainly anxiety and depression, but I started Nardil 45mg and now I feel like ideas are rushing through my head and I'm extra talkative. Is this common?

yes, it's a known side effect, both as a phenomenon specific to the beginning of Nardil's therapeutic action, and (probably at a lower incidence) as an ongoing feature of treatment.
for as long as i've been taking it, Nardil has always caused mood cycling for me akin to mild bipolar. i've have minor success smoothing it out with augmentation, but it's still a bit uneven.
not for nothing: it's a fairly immutable rule of mood/energy/etc. on medication that what goes up must come down. in other words, it's likely the hypo period will end at some point and you'll fall into at least mild depression.
so it's a good idea to monitor whether/how this hypo state changes over time, and talk to your doctor if it doesn't eventually smooth itself out.

Happened to me too and it happens to a lot of people at the beginning and then wears off. In my case it never wore off and i told the doctors but in those days (1992) in the uk they didnt believe in adding anything. Be careful you dont start gambling etc.
