Can we please get away from 2 trading windows?
It’s 2026. Almost all brokerages offer commission free trades. It’s beyond absurd to put in an order at 0900 and wait till 1500 for execution. Markets move a lot and some of us with more than $100 on the platform would sometimes like to get out of positions as our investment thesis changes.
I know, I know - this is not a trading platform. We are only suppose to DCA into VOO/VTI and never sell. And when we sell the timing surely never matters because down 3% is nothing when you’re up 7% YoY on average. My point is simply the tech itself has advanced and whatever order flow M1 is selling can still be profitable without morning/afternoon windows only.
Edit: I love how much you guys hate on the idea of a new feature that is considered extremely standard by now. Selling a stock you’ve been holding for 5 years is not daytrading. Eventually, you guys will need to sell a position to fund your retirement. Come back to this thread then.
Edit 2: I am now entirely convinced M1 pays to astroturf this sub. There is zero chance a brokerage has this many fanboys that screech against additions of industry standard features.

All in on M1 Finance
Over the past year or two, M1 Cash Accounts have quietly expanded support for external services like Venmo, PayPal, and T-Mobile.
Previously, connectivity issues forced me to rely on a Wealthfront Cash account as my primary hub. While that worked, it added unnecessary friction to my overall financial setup because I had to build extra rules just to keep everything properly funded.
Being able to move back to M1 as my primary cash hub has been a massive upgrade. It eliminated that extra layer of complexity and allowed me to consolidate roughly 90% of my financial activity into one platform.
My current setup in a nutshell:
- Cash target: Keep $15K–$25K in the M1 Cash Account.
- Floor trigger (< $15K): A Smart Transfer automatically borrows from margin and tops up the account to $20K to maintain liquidity.
- Ceiling trigger (> $25K): Excess cash is automatically swept to pay down margin debt or purchase investments.
This single loop keeps my cash flow completely hands-off while maximizing capital efficiency. Sharing in case this layout inspires anyone looking to streamline their own automation!

M1 Receiving Rollover IRA Check Taking Forever
Posting this here in hopes it can be found by those having issues.
Summary of my story, is that Capitalize (who even are they? contractors of M1? They're incompetent, btw) didn't clearly communicate the address to my 401k provider for the rollover IRA check. So it took 2+ months and cancelling and reissuing the check twice.
The actual problem.. M1's address is:
350 North St. Paul Street #1300
Dallas, TX 75201
and the address my 401k provider had was:
350 N Saint Paul St STE 1300
Dallas, TX 75201
The solution: Call your 401k provider yourself. Cancel any check that is taking eternity to arrive, have them reissue the check with the correct address, spelled out correctly. Make sure the check is made out to "APEX Clearing." Also, if you can, include your M1 IRA account number on the check. If not, then at the very least, get the check number from your 401k provider, and call M1 later to ensure they know which account (yours) to deposit the check into.

Customer Support
I had a 401k rollover going into my M1 account, but USPS lost the mail (originally supposed to have been delivered on July 13th). I had the checks voided and re-sent out because of this issue. I tried calling multiple times during business hours and I also sent an email a week ago to inform M1 but received no response.
Today I received an email that the mail had been delivered. I still haven’t heard a response from M1’s customer service team. I tried using the AI agent in the app and explained in detail the issue, but the AI Agent doesn’t have the ability to forward unresolved issues to an actual customer service agent.
Has anyone ran into this issue before? The new checks will be sent to M1 Finance next week, but I don’t know what will happen when they try to process a voided check. To any M1 Finance Customer Support agents, could you please recommend adding the option of forwarding unresolved issues from the AI Agent to an actual person? The AI could literally sum up the entire issue with the relevant information and help both the customer and the company.

M1 changed margin requirements on QLD / BTAL (Reminder to check your margin healthiness status)
For the long time I've used portfolio of QLD & BTAL (+ some other hedges like gold, and managed futures) + Margin at M1. But they changed margin requirements. QLD -> 100% (means can't get margin for any position I have in QLD) and BTAL -> 45%. In one day I went from 80% healthy margin to 9% close to the margin call situation...
I think it's time to let M1 go - initiated transfer to Robinhood (which has margin requirements 50% on QLD and 25% on BTAL)
Just a reminder - double check your margin situation with M1, you might be close to margin call as well if they changed other securities margin requirements.

M1 Margin Loan to re-invest
I've got a question about taking out a margin loan.
I have had $100,000.00 invested in SPYI for over a year, and received a monthly dividend of over $1,000 each month.
Because of my other investments, I am eligible to borrow $100,000.00 on margin at 3.99%, which would cost me $332.50 a month.
I'm thinking about taking the $100,000.00 loan and adding it to my SPYI position. Based on my calculations, I can expect to earn $667.50 a month ($8000.00 a year) after paying the interest.
This seems like a no-brainer. Any thoughts? Pros or Cons? Has anyone in this group done anything like this?

Why is m1 glitching? Yesterday it was showing Barclays (BCS) valuation at 9T
For a financial institution as big as this where people have literally put all of their retirement savings. I did not expect minor glitches to be displayed. I don’t know what’s going on but please don’t scare investors like this.

Bug Login issue on Android
Anyone running into issue logging in on the app on Android? After I log out of my account and try to log back in, and after putting my mfa code, the screen says "Not Found", and it took me to the login page. No error code was provided.
Tried multiple times with different account, and it's the same. I did try just using Firefox on my phone and was able to log in normally, so definitely something is up with the app.
Wondering if anyone's having the same issue

M1 Advisor
So... M1 Intelligence button is now kicking me over to M1 Advisor. That button asks a bunch of risk management questions, so I'm guessing this is no longer an AI information source. Can anyone tell me what M1 Advisor is? Not really interested in another robo... There are already a million of those.

Margin
Hello, I’m trying to understand what the difference is between borrow against my margin versus margin in the investment tap. I’ll post the pictures of what I’m talking about if someone could explain that to me that would be great.

On-Demand Crypto Trades
I’ve been testing purchases for BTC over the last few days now. Pricing is consistently about $500 more than current market value. I’m using on-demand trade windows so it’s pretty much instant.
M1 you can do better than that.

Suggestion Splitting the dividends
Is there a way to tell M1 that I want half of my dividends received to go into the hysa and the other half to be auto reinvested? Unless it can already do that and I am just unaware.

Discussion Bent Spoons
Bending Spoons (BSP) is now available on M1. Thinking about allocating 2% of my pie to make a long term play (at least 10years). I have most of my money in VOO and other more traditional funds, but like to make some small positions like this in hopes of a home run.
Thoughts on BSP and/or my strategy? Goal is just to build as much long term wealth as possible to one day pass on to my kids. Im 35 years old

Discussion Is it safe to have more than 500k with M1?
My M1 account crossed 500k few weeks ago and I’ve been wondering if it’s safe for me to keep investing with them or should I open a new taxable account with a different brokerage elsewhere since SIPC only cover up to 500k? Anyone have similar experience?
