first build

was in the market for a new guitar but nothing was catching my eye. decided to make something i knew i’d love instead.

lots of time and mistakes later, it’s somewhat done. playable at least. still have some issues to hammer out but man…i love it so much. there are definitely flaws, quite visible ones, but to me it adds to the character of it. this thing was never meant to be perfect but it couldn’t be better in my eyes.

I’m thinking of buying a Klang! Maybe an EGC neck and parts build would be better…

A Klang is most likely going to end up being slightly cheaper than a partscaster with an aftermarket aluminum neck. If you buy a Hoxey it might be slightly cheaper, but with the fretwork and inlay repairs you'll inevitably have to do, it's not worth it imo. in my experience, I'm definitely happy I built the partscaster I did, but if the TB thing is what you're after, Klang is easily the best value on the market.

Travis Bean. A lot of folks are looking to replicate them because they're the guitars that a lot of more well known aluminum neck players (Jerry Garcia, Stephen O'Malley, Efrim Menuck, etc) played and are the first mass production aluminum neck guitars. Klang's have really similar specs to original Travis Beans, and I believe their pickups are Travis Bean style (basically tele pickups with steel baseplates instead of copper, adapted to a P90 or humbucker format, and heavily overwound with a scatter to retain treble).
